Bought a tactic board on the go skate day sale. This one was a painted color rather than a exposed stain like some. But it did have this this even better 3 color stain under.

Also got some bones 99s

[close]

That looks pretty cool.

What was the graphic and top?

Is it Clutch wood (stamped letter and number between the front bolts?

* Also put it in the woodshop thread, as a reference.

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=116070.msg3592922#msg3592922

It was the tactic icon shop deck. In lavander. Some are clearly exposed stain at the the bottom. This one was not. I thought it was generally accepted that tactics uses bbs for shop boards. I know this stain colorway was in the clutch catalog way back, but I also know woodshops can get their veneers from the same place ore died.

Theres no identifying marks other than the notch.

Sorry giant pic

Mason deck isn't new, it's been on ice, thunders in pic are old (might use some 144 indy ti tho, haven't decided).

The new shit is, Bone V5 99as and med bushings+
Nike NBD grip on top
Black Magic Ablack5 on bottom

The Nike grip feels pretty grippy to my hands, it's chunky and it feels like there is more space between the grit compared to say, the blackmagic which is small grit and tightly packed. The Nike grip is also light as fuck even on the paper compare to any grip I've felt before, it's also pretty floopy/easily rolled (but not ripped). Yes, it really looks that salt and peppery. Going to set it up tonight.

Note: FWIW and seems odd to me, but the bones bottoms are the same fucking height as thunder bottoms...I've always thought they were shorter...I know that 'someone at DLX' 8 million years ago said the two aren't compatible but I'm going to give them another go...

Now you got me nostalgic for Black Magic griptape. I give guys at the park disapproving looks when they fork out extra for graphic / Shake Junt / Grizzly griptape, but I used to spend $7 extra per deck just to get Black Magic when I was a teenager. Makes me wonder if their griptape quality matches the modern Mob / Jessup.

I got the blackmagic as back up if the nikejessup sucks. Just from application my fingertips are chewed up the usual amount. The grit on the black magic feels waaaaaay better than regular jessup, the grit density feels more like Mob M80 (of which I'm a fan but doesn't seem to be making the rounds anymore). It feels very sharp and gritty. One thing o fnote, it doesn't have that blue hue to it like it a did a few years back also, nothing printed on the back paper.

found out the local's doing their shop decks on PS so I grabbed one. Turns out it's the same shape as quasi short WB 8.5"/gx1000 8.5", so I guess I'm gonna be on this shape for a while.

Just bought a quasi butterfly deck in 8.25. Been skating more tapered and regular popsicle shapes on bbs so I wanted to shake things up. I've been missing quasi shapes.

Yeah, the slip cups are thinner. Look at the insole on the vans - it's no wonder.

FYI this grip sucks. I've tried to give it some time but it just feels soft which makes your feet feel unsecure; it's got some grip but not a 'gritty' grip more like a soft grip (like rubber would feel). It's much easier to move/wiggle/slide your feet around than anything I have on hand; It also looks dumb and I swear it has a 'deadening' sound effect to the board.
