I miss the original G028 31.3 X 8.125 14” that was the old Guy and MJ shape.

The new G028 dimensions are just ok.

I skated many of those. I still have a Marc Johnson G028 on ice. The new version isn't even close but neither are any of the other Crail shapes since they switched molds/ wood shops.
How much for an order of ribs?

I feel like Guy Mariano boards are cheat codes. I skated so well on all of mine. It started my madness because I’d only skate those boards.

A couple years ago I skated a krooked Bobby Worrest with those dimensions and it’s the best deck I’ve ever skated. DLX puts out at least one board with that shape every season but the recently used the wheelbase to 14.25.

This brought to mind a Guy Mariano Jaws deck I had in like 09-10 which was the last Girl deck I bought. The shape was just so perfect looking, I got comments on it and still think about it occasionally.

Seems like the Go28 is same dimensions You refferin to the new mold as in concaves and kicks angles?

Feels like the old ones were flater and mellower if I remember correctly. Back then I skated ZY so can't exactly say. But now crail is my go to. GO27 probably the overall best shape out there though now I am mainly on crail 7.75

What don't you like on current crailtap boards??

Noticed the Crail shape guide has been updated with all the newer shapes. The twin-tails and Carl's shape are up now. I think I have a problem due to how often I look at the. shape guide. Its just so nice, wish more companies did this. Still want to try Carl's shape.

Anyone know how long the G059 has been around? It's an 8.4 and apparently Stevie Perez's shape. specs loook pretty good.

G059 is new I don’t know if there’s even a board with that shape out? The Carl shape looks almost football ish. Slight taper.

G057 8.5 x 31.95 x 14.5 WB by Carlisle Aikens.
Tail feels steep and somewhat long and Nose is full/round but slightly shorter. Paired w/ Venture 5.8’s but makes the wheelbase feel like a regular 14.25/14.38.

g039 stats cant be right, hope they update them
funny how they did all that and yonnies name is still up there
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Goddamn that looks nice. The dimensions are really similar to the griffin shape I’m skating, and that one works really well, the Carl looks even better.

@off yeah the Cory shape, g039, has at least one error in it (nose), but I also don’t see how it can have that total length with such a long wb…really interesting that he skates such a long wb, not a tall guy.

This could be in any ‘shape’ thread I suppose. Chose this one because I like checking out the crail shape tool. Very good.
Question is this: what are the attributes and consequences of different board shapes/geometries? What is the advantage of longer noses and tails? Longer wb would be more stability, correct? A shorter tail would be good for what? I could go on with similar queries. The genesis for this is me skating a g053, and really liking it, even tho it’s not really a size I would ordinarily grab. Shit I’m not even sure if I skate it that well, some stuff is a fucking struggle as the board is longer, and wider than what I usually use. In cycling, and I’m sure other activities like golf etc, there is a bunch of talk on what a certain head tube angle will do for a bicycles steering…Professor can be helpful, but he pivots so quickly, that listening to him I find myself possibly more confused.
None of this is all that important, obviously. Board is a board. I like this crail shape, and Carl’s new shape also has long wb, which I guess is surprising to me (fairly tech riding longer boards).
If anyone has a board that they like that is 8.5x32 I’d love to hear it

Idk

Long wb helps with a good kick flip. Jahmal Williams said that in his Bob shirt interview.

Short wb for fs flips for me. I think a longer wb would help it feel a bit more natural but when you flick and catch a proper fs on a 14 wb it just sounds really good.

I like to stay under 7 inches for both nose and tail. I used to skate the 917 8.25 that had a big nose and tail but I realized I love tech skateboarding and want to challenge myself on that. Ishod rules but I don’t see him doing what PJ does on a ledge and they obviously ride different set ups with Ishod having the more current 2022 one and PJ still having a bit more early 2000s set up (under 8 venture lows 50 mm). But both guys could probably ride the other ones board and shred.

Ok

Gonna have to look for that jahmal interview. The longer wb helps me skate a little faster, I skate sinfully slow. The shorter nose and tail require more concentrated effort, imo. I wonder if longer ‘kicks’ are better with bigger wheels? I have always hated skating boards over 32”, but now I’m questioning it all

Thanks for response

That explains why my kick flips feel good on a Huffer but fall apart when I skate smaller WB boards.

Yeah that is true for kickflips but not for heelflips. At least not for me.

149s or 159s for a Loveseat?

My loveseat has venture 5.8s (8.5 truck) and I really enjoy it. 149s would work great on it and keep it nice and nimble. 159s would also work but I’ve never skated them on the loveseat

This probably isn't news, but I was skating a crob twin and I thought the kicks seemed different than I remember girl boards being. I thought it was just me being older and fatter but then compared it to a 2019 g052 I had and it has 2 fingers of flat on nose and tail vs 3 on the 2019 g052. Same kick angle, but the nose/tail were a little higher by .1-.25". I just picked up a recent g027 and crail loveseat, same mold as the twin.

I am guessing this is just a result of switching from PGI to whatever they are now. Not better or worse, just a little different. I'm used to skating old world/girl and chapman boards so moving the pocket really throws me off.

I rode 149s on mine, but am thinking about 147s which would magic carpet but tip n flip very easily.

Set up a Crail board for the first time in almost 2 decades, Skidul shape. First board with tapered rails, wasn't sure what trucks to put on and 149s are the answer. Skated it twice, loving it. No problems with tail/noseslides unlike somebody mentioned.

I enjoy my Loveseat and it's 14" wheelbase, so I was thinking of trying a Skidul shape while CCS has them cheap. It's been a month and some days - how's that deck working out?

Oh to be clear, I have both 149s and 159s kicking around. I ended up with the 149s and it’s a great combination. The Loveseat is the best deck I’ve ridden in a while. My kickflips are actually back.
