question for you guys in here:
i got me the white 480 highs and love them, pretty tts. also the first white leather/ gum sole 600s.
i don't slip around in the 480s one bit but the 600s seem a lil short in my usual size. or to better say my foot travels forward after a while and i stub my toes. plus they are still pretty solid due to the upper i guess. kinda weird thing since they still do fit.

so will a different insole help? different socks? hw does the leather break in?

Any help's appreciated since i love the look and wanna skate them
600 need to be laced all the way up
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

Hello @rothdigga please tell me that the 600 won't get discontinued ever. I think I finally found THE shoe. Lurking the NB website and contemplating if I should order a few more colorways..
[close]
very minor tweaks on the 1010
[close]

may i pry?

About a year or so ago, they slightly changed the heel pods to help with heel slipping that was happening for some people.  Again, minor tweaks just to continually make tweaks where needed.  We did similar things to the 508 to secure the fit and it really seems to have helped.
[close]

Is there a way to tell which ones are the improved version of the 1010? Do I just look for a MFG date on the tongue thats 2023 or newer?
[close]

it's pretty easy to figure out based on colorway releases but that's just me

Anyone have good experience switching to Tiago 808s after only skating vulcs and notice less pain in the knees?
[close]
I used to skate the thinnest vulcs, now skate 808s and can confirm less pain everywhere. I transitioned over time from Emerica indicators to wino g6 vulc to g6 cup, NB 1010 then 808. No regrets.

Skated by 808s for the first session ever this evening and i must say me and my knees greatly appreciate these shoes. After only skating vulc hightops the past 9 yeas straight, this was my first time skaing cupsoles and lowtops in a very long time. At first it felt pretty wild, then within 20 min i started to feel really comfortable on the board and all my usual knee pain didnt exist during the session and hopefully wont feel as bad the day after. So hyped i finally gave these a try and i think im hooked for a while now. About to order another pair to have on ice. Cant wait for more sessions in them! If you are like me and are curious about the 808, give them a try!!!

808 gets the points from me as well. Even though I skate 440s more often, I find 808s to be better for my body overall. The shoe gets better the more I wear it. It feels a tad heavy and is pretty sturdy and tight at first but that goes away after some days and was worth the wait at least for me.

To those of you who have or tried all of these shoes, I would need a suggestion for the sizing.

The 600 fits damn near perfect for me and 306 fit fine in a US 7.5 and I am interested in the 574 Vulc shoe. Weartested wrote the 574 runs a bit large. I once tried the 272 in a US 7.5 and it was way too long. Since the 272 and the 574 look very similar I am not sure which size I should try?

They have the same sole, I'd go for 7 in your case for what you said.

My Achiles on my pushing foot started to hurt. Only time this happened to me before was with Alexis Cons, now I'm with 600. This ever happened to anybody?

This is going to be a long text with a few questions and some ranting. It is finally summer here in Berlin and I have some covid shit going on and am slightly pissed.

@moonordie I had that too in some Joslins a few weeks ago, it was also in my pushing foot. I am not 100% sure what caused this. Maybe the insoles were a bit too high around the heel. Maybe I simply skated a bit too much. We were on a lil skate tour and I skated 4 days in a row. The last time I skated a few days in a row was 10 years ago. Usually I skate 2 days a week for 3 hours or more. Anyway, I removed the insoles from the shoes and walked around a whole day without insoles and did a few achilles stretches. Then the pain got better and finally went away. My theory was, that some ligaments in my calf or achilles area got a bit too tight. Removing the insoles brought my heel lower to the ground, which felt like the whole area around my heel got stretched a lil bit more during walking and crouching down. I am no sports doctor, so take that all with a grain of salt but maybe it can help you mate.

Btw the 600. The spot on the shoe where your big toes are, it is really sturdy there with the Fantom Fit and the leather and mesh on top. Does that area get a bit softer and stretch out a bit for you guys? And are you guys skate the 600 with the stock insoles?

Oh and another thing since we are here. I am wearing these damn orthotic insoles for 6 months now. Every fucking day. Why does my plantar fasciitis still hurt when I stand for a longer period of time? I slowly begin to think those stiff insoles can't be that good for the soft tissue in your feet. That's why some people swear on these super flexy and unsupportive barefoot shoes and they don't seem to be in that much pain. The older orthopedist said wear your damn insoles. The physiotherapist wears barefoot shoes and rides a longboard, he said strenghtening the feet is more useful as some insoles. What are your guys thoughts about that?

Thx for the reply. I have my 600 with some FP gamechangers, maybe going back to the og ortholite will help, still a great ezcise to try some other shoes (I'm between 480 and 440v2) that I have in my closet. Regarding your leather question: It gets softer but not that much at all.

With regards to the 600: initially I was skating stock insoles in them, but after they started to be a bit worn down, I tried on some FP Gamechangers insoles and they made a difference in support. The worn shoes with the stock insoles started to feel kinda... unsupportive. Not a huge issue, mind you, but the supportive insoles did prolong shoe life for yours truly with the 600s.

Wrong thread i guess but i suffer from insertional achilles tendonitis.
Same shit Ben Degros made a Video about.
It started in my pushing foot several years ago and i ignored it for too long.
Now several shockwave therapys later its somewhat okay-ish.

New Balance shoes dont work for me, cause their insole is too flat. If the tendon is already shortened from the inflammation you need a higher heel to toe drop.
Not even a 1010 works for that shit with that thin insole at the heel.

My take is strengthening is only useful in early stages. When its already bad you need both strengthening for long term healing and insoles for activities in the healing process.
I cant skate for long in the "wrong" shoes without insoles that work for me.
My achilles flares up instantly in a 600 on a bad landing for example.

Edit: Tried Gamechangers also and they made it so much worse for me...

600 need to be laced all the way up

oh that is the answer i was NOT hoping for  ;D

usually lace one from the top but felt myself slipping forward a lot. might just bite it and lace all the way since i don't wanna not use the 600s.

somebody find a difference between leather and suede colorways?

Not sure how true it is or not, but i heard from a friend that NB is supposedly updating the sole on the 808 Fall of 2025 to make it a bit more flexible and softer.

Very interesting. The stiffness of the sole has been the biggest complaint for that model, I feel.

If true, NB# must plan on having that shoe in the lineup for the next couple years if they’re going to do a whole new sole for it.

I think the only improvement the sole needs is the grip. The stiffness is part of the 808 charm imo.

I would argue that the stiffness is why you’re saying the grip needs to be proved. If the sole it more flexible, it would flex better to your foot and touch more of the board. Just my opinion. I’ve never skated the 808. I’ve only tried them on, and they are stiff and thick. For me personally, that leads to a lot of break in time, and feeling like I don’t have a lot of grip in the beginning of skating a shoe

Ok

Not sure how true it is or not, but i heard from a friend that NB is supposedly updating the sole on the 808 Fall of 2025 to make it a bit more flexible and softer.

I really hope not, the fact it is kind of a brick for a short amount of time is why it ends up lasting forever and being comfortable the whole time.

I would argue that … I’ve never skated the 808
Slap in a nutshell: hypothetical subjective arguments about product we’ve never skated.

this is how the 440v2 rumors rolled in, claims of making adjustments to the sole. next thing we knew the whole upper was retooled instead. 808v2 with an even larger side logo otw  :o

or could just be subtle unannounced changes made to it like they did to the 1010

Speaking of 440v2, I skated (briefly) mine today and I loved them.

Saw the new Franky lows at the local.   Look good and love the fatter laces.  But at the same time I wish NB would chill out and slow down hah.   Want to try that white gum 480, brick Knox’s, and now these!

Some wear marks on the 480s. A lil review. I think I started skating them on the 20th. Also new board with pepper galaxy grip. Pretty much skated everyday until this photo was taken yesterday. Went on a week trip around florida. Skated twice a day, morning sesh and night sesh. Lot 11 in the backround. Such a good park. But back on topic, the shoes! My favorite shoe out right now. You got to lace these up tight on the first couple days of skating. The sole is stiff at first but really breaks in good. Boardfeel also gets better over time as you break it in. Along with time the upper will start to get floppy and loosen up. But not around the heel. Heel upper stays structured and keeps your heel in check. The flick is not as grabby as a vulc but its flick is better than a dunk and similar to the 440. If I could fix anything is try and work around whatever you call that dip on the vamp. Like a stress release cut to make the forefoot more flexible. Such a good shoe. Keep pumping good shoes! And shoutout @rothdigga JRothmeyer for blessing me and the boys with some shoes. We shredded them up.
We rode 7.5's" and didn't complain.

Just wondering what the 480 highs fit like and if they're comparable to 440 V1s? I'm not able to try on the 480s, as buying online, but have a couple of pairs of high and low 440 V1s which fit perfectly in US 11.5 and was hoping the 480s are comparable fit.
