Correct me if I'm wrong, rothdigga, but I imagine the new 808 is supposed to be an improvement on the original design. I do not think it would be a good direction for New Balance to start producing 'light' versions of existing models.

The 1010 is the best shoe ever in my humble opinion. Ive been skating them and the 808s only for the last 3 years.

The main reason I love the 1010 is the impact protection. They are very kind of my old knees.

But I would like to try other models, for example the 480s I have.

Ive never used custom insoles before but is there any insoles I can buy that replicate the experience with the 1010s?

I know a couple people that swear by them but they don’t work for my feet at all. I’ve tried twice and lasted less than 10 minutes total just walking in my house with them on. Right now the 440v2’s are my jam but I’m about to grab some 508’s because I never skated the first pair I had years ago.

I wish the 440s worked for me, I really love how they look and they feel good and skate good for me but only for the first few sessions. My feet and knees kill me in those shoes after like 3 to 4 times skating them. V2s were a little better with having switched to abzorb foam in the heel but not having it full length puts a strain on my body.

I think the 808L is going to be great, my only complaint about the 808 was how god dam stiff and heavy they were. They skated so good tho so if these improve on the flexibility and weight they should be dope. If the 808L can match the 1010 in comfort I would be hyped cuz the 808 is just a beautiful shoe

Consider me very interested. I have a bunch of colorways of the 808s and the 600s. I regularly choose to skate the 600s because of the lighter weight and more flexible outsole.

I really like the 808L. Glad they got rid of the leather patch on the tongue. Curious how the fit was updated since the 808 were known to be pretty narrow.

Length too, the original 808 seems a 1/2 size or so smaller than the 1010 for example. Would be great if that was updated because I agree, love the look of it.

I RECENTLY TRIED NB# 440 V2 HI AND I LOVE IT

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

MY DREAM SHOE IS A 440 (or possibly even slimmer shoe) WITH A 1010 SOLE (flexible with gel/foam/cushioning from heel to toe)

WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THIS HAPPENING AND/OR HAS IT ALREADY HAPPENED AND I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT SHOE TO BUY?

INFORMATION APPRECIATED

I still have dreams of seeing a 306 upper on a cupsole, like either the 480 or even the 1010 sole. I don’t design shoes, but it seems like it would be rad. In the meantime, there’s no shortage of nb#’s that I absolutely love though.

Really hyped on the Reynolds (just like the rest of the world).

To whom it may concern. I had the 868 years ago and hated it, passed it on after 3 sessions. It looked great but something was way off with my ollies which I never experienced before.

It looks exactly the same to me except for the thinner tongue and they removed the lace protectors which doesn’t make any sense to me. It looks just as bulky as it did before.

Would love a shoe like that. Like the 306, 272 or 417 on a cup would be amazing.

I had to pull up images of the original 808 and switch between browser tabs to see any differences between it and the 808L. Head scratcher of a decision.

It’s not supposed to be a completely different shoe. It’s a finessed version of the previous one. That’s why it’s 808L and not 707 or wtvr.
I guess they use a less dense foam, which makes it more flexible/less heavy, and removing the lace loops in the front, which in my opinion are a bit over engineered, allows them to drop the price (I think I recall @rothdigga saying those are less expensive than the regular 808).

808L looks great. More cohesive. Took the negatives and fixed em. How could you be upset over the revision is beyond me. Looks simplified a bit too which I like.

Agreed. They've probably wanted to edit the shoe for a while. That there was an entire discourse around sizing inconsistencies is a reason to alone.

I’m a huge 808 fan, they’re by far my favourite shoe of recent times.

I always worry when they alter something that isn’t really broken. However reading the updates everything I’d adjust it seems like improved 🤞 looking forward to seeing it in person
