ceramic super reds or swiss 6... looking to get a pair for a winter/spring board. are they similar in speed and longevity. i hear bones swiss or bust but idk... i’ve read a lotta good things about ceramic bearings though. they wouldn’t be going in the rain, and would be cleaned a couple times / year.

anyone wanna help a pal out?

+2 for the rowan’s. skated great and are now chillers. good boardfeel. think i got 2 or 2.5 months before the sole was barely holding on.

Considering the recent Adidas snafu with the shops, Rowans by default.
However, if you like/prefer cupsoles then these may be a 50/50 for you. I can't do Van's vulcs for skating anymore so i can't comment on performance but I'd trust the others above.

that etnies sale has me tempted to drop $100 on two pairs of maranas, but god knows i already have enough shoes

sitting in my house i have a pair of very lightly skated dc kalis s, unskated nb 913 (might return because they're a tad big), nb440 that still have a couple weeks left... All of them failed experiments to stop skating maranas but no matter what i seem to always go back. Basically haven't skated any other shoe for a year they just feel like home now.

Classics look cool but I wasn't a fan of how mine skated. I've heard the same thing from other people as well. I'm sure there's people that like them, but they just felt like a generic cheap cupsole to me.

Saw these online. Thinking about grabbing a pair of standard black blazer mids as well.

I wanted to try some Rowans because I heard the soles were a bit thicker but Vans are so thin and lacking support in the ball and forefoot that I'm assuming they'll feel heavy and hurty. I'd probably only wear half cab pros if they would just improve the sole/midsole. I'm an old curmudgeon.

Sorry to give conflicting info, but I skated a 5boro within the past year (the 8.38 VHS Jeremy Murray). I absolutely loved it. I wouldn’t describe it as mellow at all. Mid to steep kicks and concave if anything. It is South Central wood, so it is very stiff and a bit heavier than BBS or PS stick wood. Hope this helps.

I currently skate 5boro rn (8.125 Shinya Nohara) and its amazing.  Agree on kinda heavy but the pops nice and ive had it for awhile and its held up pretty good.

Need new shoes.

Was thinking of doing the slip on pros again, or some cheap adidas slips.

Might do old skool pros or sk8-lows.

Anyone skate the lows? I wouldn't mind chillin in them but I think the ridge near ollie area would fuck with me.

I want those last resorts but I have a hard time justifying skating in 80 dollar shoes. Might get them but not to skate. Just because I'm filling a void with retail purchases.

Planning on getting a pair of Lakais, need input if they are TTS.

And which models give durability and board feel, preferably a vulc:
Cambridge?

STANDARD - 1.88” - 47.75mm
FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI
STANDARD - 2.09” - 53.09mm
FORGED - 2.04” - 51.82m

I haven’t skated a lakai vulc in recent times, if ever.

I thought the proto was real decent, but needed to have a half size larger, as the toe box narrows. The quality was better than most lakais I’ve had. Slim cupsole, good heel lock.
