I was the last poster in here? Sounding like a broken record.

Anyway, also considering the new Lucas vulc shoes, or the Lakai Welsh Telford lows. If anyone has any input on how they skate, I'd appreciate it.
[close]

I've commented this here before but the Telford lows are currently my favorite shoe. Amazing board feel right out of the box, and seem to hold up pretty well. That being said they are not a shoe I'd ever want to jump down something in. I mainly skate ledges so I really only care about board feel. But if impact protection is at all important to you I'd probably replace the insoles, or wait until the new ones with the Atlantic sole some out. The sole is thin and great for board feel and flick, but it certainly isn't for everyone. New ones with the Atlantic sole coming out look promising though. I just got the new Moroccan blue ones and they do look really nice.

Thanks, gnarred. I'm gonna go check them out at the skateshop today.

I really want some DC metrics. They're everything I enjoy in a skate shoe on paper: laces are hidden so you don't have to fuck around with that, thinner cupsole, focus on durability and skateability, has a good shape that's pointy in the toe but not too pointy, looks padded but not chunky, etc.

I dig a lot of the colors I've seen so far

Go half a size up. I had/have them, but they’re too small. I skated them for a day and they were amazing until my toes started hurting

chems wheelbase tool, gonna just focus on shapes and redrill
forgot the pro but i heard they just got 9.0+ modded to their liking
think it was kader back in the day….but chico obviously
makes more sense than waiting for my specific dims to pop up
$40 will be a good value for the amount of usage
but any cheaper alternatives? looking to consistently get +/- 0.25

as for boards i have three in my cart, looking to drill to 14.125
polar 9/32.25/14.375
enjoi 9/32.1/14.375
couch 9.25/32/13.875

Do you take in the nose or the tail, or for the Couch, take out the nose?

I can see some boards would work well taking in the tail, but others might end up a bit too light at the back end.

If you were still on Ventures, you could even try drilling in the baseplate so you wouldn't have to keep redrilling boards, but that is a different version of madness.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

pushing the bolts closer to the nose, not fucking with the tail
ive done it before and just cant recommend messing with it
you dont see double drillers with second tail holes for a reason
kinda like people: two nostrils? yes. two assholes? no.

still in bed with forged 6.1s but redrilling the baseplate…
more for people who are looking for a different feel/turn?
not sure honestly. might make sense if you skate 14.5 and up
the wheelbase extension allows me to skate shorter wb boards
and comfortably too, no other truck is doing that
screwing with baseplates is a rabbit hole i wont venture down

had a couch before but 13.875 is shackle tier. yes it flipped easy
but i was never more scared to land tricks than on that board
with my high center of gravity, 7/10 landings = banana peel
was good for a laugh until i realized how slow i was going
should be perfect at 14.125

The 8.38 Real "true fit" mold whenever I see one. I've never ridden anything above 8.25 and the 14" WB and sub-32 length is really tempting.

I need to stop buying gear…but..
I really feel like I need to try a westgate-esque setup.

8 or 8.1 mellow deck (maybe a baker or girl), venture 5.2lo hollow light, some old 50mm or smaller f4’s I have.

I’m more so just looking to scratch the itch of an old school 90’s/early 2000’s setup with venture lo’s. Never ridden low trucks and I’m just dying to know how they skate. Fuck me I don’t need more gear/another setup but…

Can anyone give me some feedback or convince me to buy/not to buy this?

I did kinda same last year, mellow 8” board 50mm f4’s and ace 03’s. In my head if I get similar setup as in my prime years I’d be nollie heelflipping into slides in no time. NOT. I fucking hated that setup, everything felt weird trucks didn’t turn, pop was way too quick and I felt there was no room for sketchy landings ( how I land most my tricks these days ) so I got rid of that after few months… I wouldn’t waste my money if you’re already comfortable with your regular setup.

I tried on the brsb’s yesterday, I’d say the fit true to size
I wear 10 in 440s and the 10 in brsb fit good, maybe just a hair more snug.
Haven’t tried on 1010s in a min, but I’m sure they fit similar to 440s

NB# 272

In the 440 I wear a 7.5 with a bit of room in the toes. 508 and 306 had too much room in the toes for me in a 7 and 7.5

Lakai Atlantic I wear a 7.5 too
Emerica Gamma I need a 7
Vans can be everywhere from 7 to 8

I also wear ankle braces

Help.

Thinking about setting up a spring/fall/winter board for shitty conditions here in Alaska.

Powell flight deck 8.25 shape 243
Vicious or Powell hardcore coarse longboard griptape
Af1 55's
Mini logo bearings no shields
F4 conical full 97a 54mm

Vs.

Same deck
Jessup
Af1 55's
Bones swiss
F4 classic 99a 54mm

I have that deck and love it, but it's a mellow tail and I would struggle with it using AF1s.  I rode it for quite a while with Indy Ti 149s, but am now on Thunder Ti 149s and am getting better pop than with the Indy.  I feel like I'd get nothing with the AF1s (that are now sitting here abandoned under my desk).

Went from forged indys to the Af1s last year. All I skate are flight decks cause it saves me so much $$, I dig the mellow tails but the concave is almost too steep but I'm used to it

I dig the aces, I used to skate bakers with thunders and 51mm wheels so I'm kinda used to the low/quick pop. Spanly skates mellow kicks, aces and 51's and doesn't seem to have a problem with pop. I like the short wheelbase and the turn for sure.

I've skated cast indys with 56's, forged indys with risers and 58's, cast indys with more risers and 64's, stage 7 146's, thunder lows, thunder highs, venture lows with 44's, etc

Best skating of my life was on thunders but I was also 18

Looking forward to trying venture highs

Just wanna winterize my current setup basically without changing anything

After two years of COVID skating I've somehow replaced all my cute clothes with skate clothes and now I need an entire off the skateboard female wardrobe reboot. I just turned into a complete skate rat and look like shit or a 12 year old boy 24/7. Disheartening.

.

That's what I skated at FGO back then. Pop wasn't great, but I could low altitude most flip tricks and do a billion manuals on that box. We didn't really turn much and it sucked skating to and from places, but it was really responsive and so easy to pinch and balance grinds on.

Really trying not to buy those cast v-hollow ventures. I don’t skate ventured I usually go between Indy and thunder. I have some 5.6 ventures I just set up on an 8.5 deck to try and curve me wanting 5.8 cast v-hollows. The 5.6 feel super squirrelly to me and I don’t feel the stability people talk about. But damn the pop was nice.

You will never want another wheel after trying f4.
