Really good looking setups, the Gonz and Chico. Not sure if I like the shape of the Chico though, looks a bit like the cardinal football that is ways off.

I am riding this ugly bastard at the moment:

Polar 92 (Had the hjalte graphic with snake and cross that was ugly as hell)
Ace 66
1/8 diamond risers (cut to fit)
Spitfire f4 classics 54
Super reds
Jessup and iron horse mix.

I rode the same 92 polar on 159 and 169 and just did not like it. Always felt weird, heavy and unbalanced.
Wanted to give it another chance before painting it and I actually enjoy it a lot on the aces.

Yeah the polar hjlate beast mode 2 was a 1991 shape, both the 1991 and 1992 are 9.25 but the 91 has a more round nose and a longer wb.

Thoughts on Thunder 161 9.125" axles with this? I'm wanting the wider/stable width..

Real The TG 9.2"

tapers in the rear but wondering if overhang will be too much

you'd be hot rodin out the back on 161's, i'd do 151's or 159's because of the taper.

Yeah I would not bump up to the 9 or bigger truck unless the back end is at least 8.8 around the wheels.

I had that board and I used 149s on it and it worked well. Prob best with 159s/ 151s as 161s might be overkill with the taper- like others have said above...

I’ll jump in just to say it’s definitely worth checking out a truck that fits the wider part of your shaped board rather than the skinnier part...

It takes a little getting used to but once I switched to a larger truck that “hot rods” a little bit I found it actually improved my skating overall and definitely helped me lock into grinds easier and longer

I really liked it. nice short wheelbase at 14". i personally think 55s would be too wide on it.

that’s kinda cool to hear actually, looks like a fun shape and now I’m wondering if I should keep my Chico board for a wall hanger instead ? Seems like a waste to skate it but also a waste not to skate it 😓

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

Try the TG. Hang the Chico, enjoy it on the wall for awhile. You can always skate it at a later date.

skate all the boards! you can still hang it skated and value the sentimental value of a chico board.
keeping decks unskated just pays up if you want to resell them "mint condition" (but then don't even set them up)
or if the graphics are super good and imho the chico graphic is random and not one i would admire on my wall.

@thread: i had a few sessions on ace 66 now and they don't turn too well, i have to say.
how is the break in period of the bushings?

Been trying this setup with various truck/wheel/riser combos over the past couple weeks and it always felt off. On a whim I decided to try it with 159s, 1/8" risers, and 60mm wheels and I am super into it (didn't think I even liked wheels this big). Slappies are amazing on it.

Sausage 9.18 (reminds me a lot of the Cardiel football but very flat)
Independent 159 w/ bones hards
F4 99 60mm classics

Thanks, some of your setups made me realize that a football with big wheels doesn't look too bad.

Truly shocking but I haven't been getting any wheelbite even with the 60s. It also flips better than when I had 51s or 55s on it.

51s (worn to about 48mm, posted a pic in the egg shaped board thread) and 55s (worn to about 52/53mm). .I think how flat and pointy it is balances well with the height/width/weight.

That’s why I had to buy two! If I had only been able to get one though I’d probably save it to hang.

I like seeing all the Polar decks on here! Polar and Creature are what I like. I’ve got an 8.8 32.2 with a 14.5wb Creature Partanen I’m turning into a cruiser/freeride board. I’ve got some Indy 159 hollows already on it. I ordered some 1/4 risers longer hardware Bones roughriders and race reds coming Friday. I’ll post some pics when I get it put together.

The polar I have is the 8.623 Klez (sp?) brain blower. Standard 159 stage 11 Indy’s on that one and 54mm bones 100’s. It’s been my street/park board.

do you know what the rear tapered to? Truck width? Seems like 44 would be narrow and 55’s preferred but maybe it tapers more than I thought.
