Yeasss. Ive been wanting to ride one of these forever and it just hasn’t happened for one reason or another.

I got one of these a few months back, just because I wanted a cruiser / modern shaped deck. First 10 min on it was little weird (coming off an 8.25 popsicle), and then suddenly I was like, “GAWDAMMIT! This thing is STUPID fun!!!” If you’re on the fence, get off it, and get one.

Also, noticed Krooked has not put out that 9.81 in a few drops. That seemed like a staple…until it wasn’t.

Yeah the Black Label "Street Thing" shape is a good one!

Always some in various graphics on the site too.

https://www.blacklabelskates.com/

Then talking about the Krooked "Sweatpants" shape, at least that is the most common name and the graphic I have of that board, even though the Sweatpants has been put on the Drehobl shape and other options in the last couple of drops.

I hadn't really noticed, but now you mention it, yes, last one of the 9.81 shape is still around here at least, but was from:

Shellraiser Wideboy 10.75
Mutator 13
New Swampy Bog Log 10.75

I run 215 on each board and love it

This is a great quiver because there’s no 8.5 sitting in the lineup to demonstrate how giant those boards actually are. Just looks like 3 standard setups.

I had a 9.5 egg and was riding 9"-9.25" shaped decks for a while but have been back on popsicles. A homie at the skatepark this morning had a 13" Heroin Mutator with 11" Slappys and I rode it for maybe 5 minutes. It was so much fun! I don't need a new setup or a new way to blow a bunch of money but I've looked at some really wide boards like three times already today. I don't know how much I'd ride it but man, it was just so much fun and now I want one.

Black Label Super Mex Deck 9.5 x 32.125

Features:
"Tugboat" Shape
Width - 9.5"
Length - 32.125"
Wheelbase - 14.5"
Traditional 7-ply construction
[close]

I don't have one but it is very tempting. Anyone skate this shape or something similar? It looks fun.
[close]
I’ve been skating the Lucero graphic of that shape for a couple weeks now. Super fun

The BLKLBL "Spider Egg" looks interesting, too. It's like a slightly smaller Tug Boat.

For those who are wanting something similar to the street thing/man van & sweatpants shapes. Mortuary (psd wood) had a shape that is a great combo of those 2 shapes(looks like Gurneys taken a hiatus for a bit though) and they aren’t showing up on the site.
Donovan Rice has a shape that’s pretty rad as well through ATM Click(bbs wood).

It is actually kind of funny looking through the shaped boards list and thinking so many of those boards sort of fall into the same category of shape, medium length, squared off tail with a pointy sort of nose and widest point at the shoulder.

I guess that was very much the late 80s early 1990s shape transition anyway, just before things got really weird, but I still think some of those boards were more fun than anything else.

Searching back through here, there are a few of the Rice boards, as well as others like Sweatpants, Dane 1, Black Label and I don't know how many others right this minute.

That Rice board would be a good one - never seen them here in AU, but the fact that it has a longer than average tail has me interested.

Ok, I want to take the plunge. After riding the 13" mutator again, I want a silly wide board to fuck around on. I currently only have one setup and I guess I could call this my cruiser but really, I'll probably only ride it at the skatepark.

There's some sales going on right now and I can get a Swampys Bog Hog 10.75" with grip and 10" Slappys for $100. I could also get a 13" mutator with 11" Slappy hollows for $150. I loved the 13" I rode but would love to save $50. will the 10.75" give me that same insane, like nothing I've ever skated feeling as the 13" or will it just feel like a larger version of a regular deck? If it matters I'm mostly riding 8,625 now.

As someone who regularly rides 9.5s, a ten-inches feels massive.
But there’s a saying in Japanese, “If you’re going to eat poisoned food, you nights as well lick the plate”, which means you might as well go full-hog on the board if you’re doing it anyways.

Heroin 10.0 Popsicle
Ace AF1 77
60mm 93a Dragons
Swiss 6
Mob
Hard bushings, hollow hardware, 2x risers all Ace
AJ1 with an insole swap

Rode a friend's horse pill and liked it except that its pretty short for me. The Heroin is a little bit longer (32.25 vs 31.85) and "symmetrical" (7" N vs 7.12 T). So far I've just cruised around and had a little flat ground sesh but it's definitely a fun set up.

Thats so sick! I have been torn between that and the horsepill. So I just went with another egg. A couple of my buddies on here that love the horsepill, but I love symmetrical boards. What's a man to do?  ;D

The new “Jumbotron”.

Lucero knows my G-spot better than I do

The funny thing is almost any board with that length and wb could work - just add in a little extra width for spice.

Jumbotron Shape
10” x 32.25“ 14.325" wheelbase

I guess with so many bigger boards now, Black Label (or should I say John Lucero) has always been right up there with shapes and trends.

Also wonder if BBS is now doing a lot more business in the bigger board department, as I seem to recall at one point they were either going to put a significantly higher price on anything over 8.8 in width, or just couldn't source enough wider veneer options, but that might have also been with the 2020 shortages and other issues.

This one should make a bit more sense than the Horse Pill anyway.

i know you didnt ask me but...

i have been riding this board for about 3 weeks now
i can do all my tricks on it really good. my flat ground feels really good on here. i have gotten some really dope clips on it.
the tail doesnt feel short to me

i ride this with 8.75" Ace AF1 60 because that is the biggest trucks I have

It would probably be better with wider trucks... but this feels fine to me. I personally don't like 10" trucks either and didn't want to buy them just for this. I would have liked to try something over 9" for this though.

I use "small" 52mm classic full f4, and used 3 washers on each truck to push the wheels out as much as I could to avoid the wheel bite. It is in a really good spot now because the wheels are worn down too. it would have been cool to try this combo on the wider truck to see how much you could get the wheelbite down. the wheel size hasn't felt too slow to me either.

Yes. There’s the Yellow Eagle AH Horsepill which — like all AH Eagles — are made by BBS Generator.

Then there’s the Grimple Stix Horsepill which uses the DLX’s China woodshop (forgot which one) which has steeper concave than the AH Eagle model.

Yeah that was me being maybe a little paranoid, or at least I am very used to BBS concaves and the other one is not.

At least in USA you only get the BBS versions, so it wouldn't matter if it was the yellow eagle or the Grimple stix board, they are all on the same wood, but elsewhere in the world, the cheaper China made boards are becoming way more common and the more expensive BBS made boards are really only being used for the eagles and some other specific boards, at least for the ones we are getting here in AU.  Most likely a similar story for EU, Asia, or other non US countries.

Just look for the "Made in" sticker or ask and they should be able to tell you if it says "Made in Mexico" which is BBS or "Made in China".

Also note, this is really only an issue for one or two of the bigger or more weird shapes from DLX, as the majority of the boards from China are made using the same molds as BBS so they are really quite good, but the 10" board is made using a generic mold, so while it is still well made and works fine for some people, it is not a BBS mold and that was the problem for me.

i know you didnt ask me but...

i have been riding this board for about 3 weeks now
i can do all my tricks on it really good. my flat ground feels really good on here. i have gotten some really dope clips on it.
the tail doesnt feel short to me

i ride this with 8.75" Ace AF1 60 because that is the biggest trucks I have

It would probably be better with wider trucks... but this feels fine to me. I personally don't like 10" trucks either and didn't want to buy them just for this. I would have liked to try something over 9" for this though.

I use "small" 52mm classic full f4, and used 3 washers on each truck to push the wheels out as much as I could to avoid the wheel bite. It is in a really good spot now because the wheels are worn down too. it would have been cool to try this combo on the wider truck to see how much you could get the wheelbite down. the wheel size hasn't felt too slow to me either.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated!

I’m hoping my local has a sale this weekend so I can afford to pick one up.
