Here we go, my full-size fingerboard

Antihero Horse Pill (BBS)
Slappy Inverted 10 inch with Krux kingpins
Swiss 6
Bones 97x Rollersurfer 54mm
Powell rails

Does the tail feel too short?

I haven’t taken it out yet, but when I do I’ll report back

Thanks!

i know you didnt ask me but...

i have been riding this board for about 3 weeks now
i can do all my tricks on it really good. my flat ground feels really good on here. i have gotten some really dope clips on it.
the tail doesnt feel short to me

i ride this with 8.75" Ace AF1 60 because that is the biggest trucks I have

It would probably be better with wider trucks... but this feels fine to me. I personally don't like 10" trucks either and didn't want to buy them just for this. I would have liked to try something over 9" for this though.

I use "small" 52mm classic full f4, and used 3 washers on each truck to push the wheels out as much as I could to avoid the wheel bite. It is in a really good spot now because the wheels are worn down too. it would have been cool to try this combo on the wider truck to see how much you could get the wheelbite down. the wheel size hasn't felt too slow to me either.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated!

I’m hoping my local has a sale this weekend so I can afford to pick one up.

AW YEAH 🛹
We gotta join em man..they are out there having fun without us..also @plan9customs I followed the instructions, done and done.

i do wanna try a horsepill now cause of you guys, but yeah biggest trucks i got are 66classics. wider than yours but still..
i prefer a magic carpet tho. but this one time i set up a board where it was so bad that if a landed to much on the side it would tip over and hit me in the shin. you dont have this? or you just more coordinated than me?

to be fair i'm still not skating for another 2 months. so maybe this temptation is long gone by then.

I’ve always been on the fence about period correct stickers/ brands on reissue boards

I mean, it’s cool to feel that Time Machine feeling looking down… but it’s also cool to just set up a reissue and skate it like you would anything else right?

Anyone skated the 9.1 GFB shape from generator and have thoughts on it?

I searched GFB both here and in the Setups thread and a few boards came up.  Even some more in the main Shoes and Gear search too - Egg thread and others had a few but not any more info.

The green one is mine. My third one. I love this shape. I mostly use it with smallish wheels at my local curb spot. Unfortunately, BBS Skate Samples won't sell to individuals anymore... I have one more in my stash...

I got the Horse Pill a while back and have been dialing in the setup over the past few weeks. I think it’s finally feeling right.

I was going for something that can handle a good bit of cruising and bruising but is also fun at the park or the occasional street spot.

Parts/mods:

Stage 4 baseplates on the 215s. Venom HPF 85A bushings, 0.6” barrel on the bottom, 0.5” cone with 1-1.5mm shaved off the thick end on top. 58mm Sapphires with generic metal shield 608s that are surprisingly nice.

Debated throwing a riser on this but the wheelbite situation is reasonable after I did the bushing surgery. Nose and tail feel short/stubby, but part of that is undoubtedly the wicked proportion of the 10 x 31.8 shape.

I originally had normal short cone bushings in the top and it was super loose and twitchy, oddly satisfying how easily you could steer it from the center rail with  just a an ankle flip, but running the bigger bushings is a lot more functional for the streets around here. Got some light flatground skating on it the other night. Kinda like skating on a saddle.

Liking these wheels the more I ride them like this, but definitely stick to the 58s and 60s.

I’ve been skating the Lucero graphic of that shape for a couple weeks now. Super fun

I wonder if drilling a 15" wheelbase would ruin it. 'cause seems super nice and fun but i need 14.75 and up to feel comfy

Been messing with wheelbases a lot recently and although some work really well, most of the good boards are pressed on molds that accommodate the specific wheelbases, so lengthening it out might make the trucks sit out into the kicks.

If you don't use the nose as much, then it might not be a worry just extending the wheelbase to the front of the board, but if you were to take both ends out some, then you might have kicks that are very short and feel very heavy to lift and pop.

Often easier to take wheelbases in, more so than out, but I know some people have done it with success on some boards, especially if they were shorter to medium wheelbases and pressed on longer molds that do accommodate bigger boards in general.

A total length of 32.125 is pretty short considering some boards are at least 32.5 up to 32.8 or even 33+ with the longer wheelbase options.

As far as the other offerings from Black Label, there are some pretty good bigger and longer boards that might work better for the 14.75 and up.

Not sure what the kick lengths are on this one, but I guess there are some others out there with similar dimensions.

9.25″ x 32.25″ 14.75″ Wheelbase

* Seeing maybe only very limited options of the old 9 x 33 with 15 wb now that most are the shorter 9 x 32.6 with 14.5 size, but this one is in stock too, same as the AH orange eagle dimensions.

Black Label Super Mex Deck 9.5 x 32.125

Features:
"Tugboat" Shape
Width - 9.5"
Length - 32.125"
Wheelbase - 14.5"
Traditional 7-ply construction

I don't have one but it is very tempting. Anyone skate this shape or something similar? It looks fun.

Thanks for explaining it so well and for the thoughtful response!!!

I keep looking at silly huge boards online and am really close to pulling the trigger on either a Heroin Pickle or Life 13" Twin. Can't tell if it's a stupid idea on not. I'll need to get wide trucks for it too and don't really feel like dropping $150+ on something I'm only going to skate a few times. Any thoughts? I know it won't be my main setup or anything but it really looks like fun, especially for just cruising around and some transition.

its as ridiculous as you think
how silly are you feelin?
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

 I'm feelin pretty silly.

The 14.25 WB on the Heroin Pickle kind of scares me though. It just seems like it should be longer for such a wide board. I'm probably overthinking it.

Life is short man. Have some fun.

I have multiple sets of indy 215s because I wasn't willing to wait to set up different silly boards.
