I am a popsicle guy, but recently set this up. Heavy '80s energy / vibes. Might be the coolest looking set-up I've ever owned. Lucero sure knows how to make great-looking decks.

That one is the 9.88 street thing shape right? Looks like a lot of fun, Black Label consistently puts out good graphics.

Just out of curiosity, are those NOT 53 classics?! And NOT forged hollows?! Sorry I am also an enjoyer of the aforementioned.
Setup looks great and kudos on the grip.

Picked up an 9.5 Black Label egg in the shop yesterday. Now that is a sick looking wide boy. I didn't need a board but it looked so good. Anyone ride one? What trucks?

Pals anyone know a cheap source for 9x33.25 15wb decks ASIDE from skate samples? Was told they aren't going to be offering that one anymore. I'm SCREWED.

Prefer blank but graphic doesnt matter because I paint my own decks. But it's gotta be that 33.25 or 33 (depends how you measure) with the 15wb. Same as the anti hero classic orange.

edit: Found one option at 35th ave

303 shop decks are BBS and I *think* LBskate are as well. Their 9" shop decks might be the same dims as the orange eagle and they go on sale all the time. Might be worth an email/call.

Heated Wheel grasshoppers are my go-to cheap board but the 9' dims aren't right, 32.75 w/ 14.5 WB so no help there

You can also try Scram with the 9” popsicle it should tick all the boxes(not 100% if it’s 33 or 33 1/4 though but should be the same dims as the 35th decks).

blackmarketskates.com has some shop boards that are 9”. Last time I skated one was right after I skated a 9” antihero and it felt the same. I was too young to measure my boards but worth a call to see if they are the right dims

Can anyone recommend some big boards that have mellow concave and kicks? A lot of 8.75+ decks I’ve had can be real steep, even a 9” psstix blank I got from a local shop ended up being steeper than I wanted. Prefer a popsicle but any shape that isn’t too wacky is fine with me.

Palace Ville 9” decks have been pretty mellow. Not sure on the most recent drops though but worth checking out.

What brands have you had before, as a sample selection of helping to define "steep" but is that also in the angle of the kicks or in the side to side concave, or both?

Most boards are roughly between 22 and 25 degrees in the kicks, with the side to side concave being about 10 degrees on average.  The digital angle finder is a fun little thing to have on hand to measure this, but not essential, or might even create more problems for you if you take it into a store and start checking every board they have in the shop.

A lot of the milti board per press woodshops will end up with some steeper and some not so steep, which is all good and well for most, but finding the mellow board in that lot can be a struggle sometimes.

Some woodshops also use shape or size specific molds so a bigger, longer or wider board is more often pressed in the big / mellow mold to allow for more width without it getting ridiculous in the side to side concave.  Other woodshops have the same molds for everything, so if a board goes over a certain length or size, then the dimensions will create a weird board to ride, especially if the wheelbase is too long for the mold.

Anyway, back to something a little more simple, without too many crazy things going on.  If you can find a place you can go into with a fair range of stock, it would help a lot, especially if you are allowed to stand on the boards, but if not, then at least seeing what you had before, might help with what could be the best recommendation for you as well.

I much prefer boards on the more mellow side and as I usually ride BBS wood / DLX boards, I often find that there are some that are way too steep for me and others that are sometimes almost too mellow, but I am able to pick and choose with a lot of them, way more so than some people might, who could be limited to only certain brands or certain shops in any given area.

* Your location (city or even just country) could help there too.

I appreciate the response and I get that it was kinda a vague question, to your point I had two different decks of the same pro Creature model and one I loved while the next I hated. Steepest concave I ever had, the nose looked like a spoon.

I do have some decent local shops but handling them in the shrink wrap isn’t the same. I do know that some wood shops list the spot in the press or the model of their shape on the deck, but that isn’t always consistent.

I guess I figure skateboard brands sometimes have their own shapes that fits their identity or whatever. Was curious if there are any companies that were known for their mellower decks. I do love bigger boards but I feel like they often come with those real steep kicks, long wheelbases etc. Located in the PNW for what it’s worth.

I’ve measured the degree of so
Many brands of decks, most tails are between 21-23 degrees, I prefer 19-20. The IV mold Dlx decks are always in the range I prefer, the bbs
Made decks we use are usually
In the 20-21 degree kick in the bigger sizes 8.75/9

Also I have a tape measure with me so I lay the board graphic down on the counter and measure to the top of the tail, anything 1.8-2” of
Kick feels good to me. Over 2” is usually
Too steep.

The "Horse Pill" shape / yellow eagle boards have been added to the eagle range, so I can't see them NOT making more as so many people are into the wider boards right now.

As to trucks, it is funny cause I had a go of one that is set up on Indy 215s and it just feels too solid for me.  I have all the parts there, but just haven't been that keen to set the one up I have, but in saying that, I have put 215s on a few other boards and they always felt too wide for anything of comfort.

You might be the same, so even some 9+ trucks might work well enough, like the old Ace Classic 66s I have sitting here - 9.38 and might be good too.

AF1 77 Hollow is the move…

Sounds like the AF1 77 = 9.5" trucks could also be the go, as said here too.  Had to look them up just to make sure of the bigger Ace sizes.

* I see Slappy also has a 9.5" truck in their size listing, but wouldn't know how easily available they are, even though some come up when I did a quick check.

100%. I didn’t love my horse pill at first, but then bought 77s for it and fell in love!
