After disembeling the bearings I found out that 2 of the cages Holding the balls were broken. Got my old spare bearings out and the balls fell out when I took the cage out.

Is it possible to get the bearings together in One piece again?
[close]

Yeah, place the inner race inside the outer race on a flat surface, then place the balls between them. Use a flattened paper clip or something like that to help you get the balls evenly spaced around the inner race. It should hold itself together well enough at that point to place it over the nylon cage and reassemble. I believe there’s a more thorough discussion about this further up.

i was using this shield-holding-the-balls method @ 2:40

Hahaha yeah that way looks smarter. I had not considered that approach.

What bearings are you guys using? I'm a fan of Bones Swiss and I had some blank ceramic bearings that were just as fast.
Looking for suggestions for a new build.

Had a brand new set of Black Panthers sitting around, been skating them for the last few months and love em. So Cal’s shop bearing are the shiz too.

Running different brands on different set-ups.
Running Ándale Swiss, Bones Super Reds, and Bronson Raws. I ordered some Olympia Gold Grades on the way.

I’ve been skating a small area and haven’t been able to really put them to work. That being said the Raws feel better than the Andale.

Thanks. They didn't have the ceramic. They was stainless. I passed.

I'm just going to wait till I can afford the Swiss or grab some more ceramics when I see them.

There's no reason to use spacers at all unless you are long boarding or on a cruiser. They aren't doing shit unless you are tightening the axle nut all the way, which no one does because it makes your board feel weird and your wheels won't chirp anymore.

I got the Shake Junt abec 7's for some reason. They appear to be working. I never gave too many shits about bearings. I've used Flip "HKD" bearings before and I did many satisfactory maneuvers at sufficient speed with them to my recollection.

Kiehl’s is the dankest
I’ve been using Kiehl’s for years. Also in Scott Johnson’s Bob shirt interview he said he use their soap, and we all know how pretty and clean he is.

Have any of you mad scientists tried using an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner to clean your bearings? Just wondering.
[close]
We have this bigger industrial version at work (print house) and I’ve been cleaning mine & homies swiss for ten years now, it truly works. I just cleaned up my friends ceramics that has been cleaned with that bones shakey bottle only, and huge amount of black stuff appeared on the bottom of my cleaning solution so I can confirm it works!
Just following up after getting the gear. I don't even know why I didn't try this sooner. It totally works.

I managed to clean three sets yesterday (removed shields, shake/rinse in 97% alcohol to get the big stuff off, rinse with water, 1 pint water and 1 capful biodegradable jewelry cleaner solution, 3 minute cycle one side, spin each bearing with fingers, flip over, 3 minutes the other side, rinse with water, dried with blower).

Speed rings and shields get ran one cycle also rinsed in water and dried.

So easy. So clean. Thanks Krooked antihero.

Just picked up these mud burners to complete my shit box of a complete!

I picked these up at a yard sale today for $5, said their son bought them for Christmas and never got a board. So the bearings just sat in a draw for 15 years. Fucking wild.

I honestly have no clue what kind of bearings I have. Pretty sure I said “give me whatevers cheapest” at the shop because the pickings were so slim. Had my first suspicions today that they’re slowing down.

Should I clean my cheapos and see if they don’t get faster for longer or buy new quality ones and reassess later?

I've been running the same set of regular bones swiss for over 4 years now. I haven't noticed any reduction of speed and I clean them around 3 times a year. Today I just cleaned and relubed and they're feeling mighty fine :) Probably will squeeze out another year before I buy a new set, probably swiss 6.

Got a set of reds waiting to set up for a few months now but have heard quality been shit since like 2017. Wasn’t pleased on my last set from dec 2019, a few crapped out real quick.

my friend gave me a set of pretty much brand new swiss but within a week the bearings on the rear wheels stopped spinning good. I put off cleaning them and just swapped on some brand new reds I had and within a week the bearings on the rear wheels stopped as well. Any idea why this happen?

Maybe the shields are bent and rubbing against the bearing balls? pop the shields off of the slow bearings and see if that's the cause. Otherwise, clean them and see if that fixes it.

I'm still using a 10 year old set of bones swiss. 3 of them are missing a ball. Am I riding a time bomb?

I definitely think it's worth trying to clean them if you've got the time.
If they end up sucking you can still get new bearings.

Bones Swiss 6 Ball. I've been riding these exclusively since around 2012 and they are fan-fucking-tastic. I've never cleaned any of them and they are all still rolling to this day.

i keep saying the same shit in this thread... bones swiss or bones 6 balls... I had a sad of swiss for about 5 years and a set of the swiss 6 going onto 2... the setup with the bones swiss got stolen and the one with swiss 6 i had to leave in an airport so im on this superstition if i get swiss or swiss 6 my dumbass will loose it again
