anyone skated one of these?
Edit: https://www.evo.com/en-ca/skateboard-decks/krooked-drehobl-pedistol-925-deck
in the market for a new board and split plies/ 8 holes up front is pulling my nostalgia strings.
It's either that, a love seat or an 8.8 evisen but that would get me kicked out of this thread :(

Rode that deck before. I'd steer clear if you like big wheels. I had 58mm Spitifre classics with 1/4" risers on it, and it didn't feel good. Probably 55mm or smaller with no risers would be a better fit IMO.

is that 8.8 evisen a shape they make each drop? if so count me in
[close]
you’ve ridden one before?
My first preference is actually this:
https://www.evo.com/en-ca/skateboard-decks/krooked-drehobl-pedistol-925-deck
[close]
no i havent. i would if they make the shape regularly.

been sticking to decks i know i can snag each drop without fail instead of one-offs
[close]

Classic Drehobl on Drehobl's classic shape.

9.25" x 31.8"
14.25 - 14.75" Wheelbase

Not sure how regularly they come out, but there seems to be one every other drop in the same size, shape, dual wheelbase, just different graphics.

Older versions of the same shape:

https://krookedskateboarding.com/fall19/kr-fall-19-dr-3-02-dt.jpg

https://krookedskateboarding.com/summer19/kr-summer-19-03-dt.jpg
i guess i wasnt being clear enough but i was talking about the evisen
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Or just remove half the height of that huge riser.
Depending on what trucks you use you can easily  get away with 58 mm and  1/8" risers, even no risers if you ride ace imo.

58mm wheels on wide aces with no risers? Please tell me the secret, I can barely ride 53mm wheels with Aces.

Risers and accepting that you will get wheelbite in life. Just as you’re likely to hit a pebble or crack here and there.
Regardless, hope you all power through them and don’t get hurt.

I thought it was the 8.8 deck you were talking about. On a 8.8 deck that tapers and has a decently steep concave 55s  will give you a good amount of lean before it bites

I ride whatever weird setup strikes me in phases, switch it up when I’m bored

A very respected east coast skater told me once that riding different setups as often as possible will make you better and more natural and I believe him

Just get used to the weird pop feel and get into it, it’s fun

Heroin CQ Gold Rush 10” on 215s with Lucky .125” risers. Swapping wheels/bearings around a lot lately.

Wanted this deck for a while, but was afraid of the 14.125” wb. Black Friday Deal too good to pass up, glad I grabbed it, it’s super fun. I like the mutant and 10” egg better, but I do like this CQ 10” better than my Gonz 9.81. I may sell the Gonz.

I’m becoming addicted to Heroin....skateboards

Picked up some Ace 55’s on sale.

I need a rad big boy deck to pair with the trucks.

I don’t want a 15 inch wb.

Any recommendations?

What are everyones go-to decks for Ace 55’s?

The modern Winkowski deck is wider than the original at the width over the back truck mount, so I've paired it with ace 55 over the indy 159s, which are narrower and better suited for the classic shape (imo)

The classic is closer to 8.38 at the rear truck mount, while the modern is closer to 8.75.

Speaking of.. deerman of dark woods

Work has been rough/long hours so I set this up last night but haven’t skated. It’s been 30° - 40° here already with snow on the ground and a mix of rain and snow next 4/5 days.

Heroin Call of the wild series
Deck Specs:
Width: 9.25"
Length: 32.5"
Wheelbase: 14.26" (actually measures 13.375”..perfectly between 14.25” and 14.5”)
Nose: 7.5"
Tail: 6.6"

Indy 169 ti, 97a bushings, 2 washers inside/1out
1/8” risers
Spitfire 55mm OG classics

Is it actually 32.5"?  Their website says 32.25, but a lot of other sites say 32.5" as well.

Straight across.  But I'm curious on down too, to see if we end up with 32.25" straight across and 32.5" down.

Thanks!

@jay_nev

Thanks for the pics, that is super helpful.  I was hoping it was on the shorter side, but I may still grab one.  I have the 9" one on order, which is supposedly .25" shorter.

Hows the kicks?  If they are pretty flat, I probably won't be able to resist.

I almost got that Heroin board. Was checking it out at the shop.
All of my fatties are shaped. And I really wanted a fat popsicle to add to the quiver.
I loved everything about it except the huge nose and the full dip. Would have picked it up if it wasn't for that.
Instead I grabbed a Creature stump. But it's only 8.8". So I can't discuss it here.  ;D

Quasi came out with a 9.0 football shape deck awhile back (Jake Johnson board I think) and I just setup my last one. I try to stay away from having too many boards in the quiver now but anyone know of a similar option? I believe it’s 9.0x32x13.8? It’s such a fun shape.

Crail loveseat(9")/couch(9.25" shapes. 13.8" WB, 32" overall. More squared tail but otherwise pretty spot on. Loved my loveseat.

Damn. Knew that quasi was probably dope.

What trucks you use on the love seat? I think Simon uses 159s, a local king uses 5.8s....those boards look great for a board with some decent sized wheels

149s and 44s (2 washers inside). Both were good. It looked better with the 149s.

To anyone that has ridden the Grosso decks with the 90 degree top rails (Old Fat Guy Pig Shape): did you find that this cut actually helped with staying locked in? Or did it feel like a gimmick? Asking for a personal project.

The Santa Cruz Dressen tribal graphic has the same top and most people look at it and think it is weird.

Skating them, they give you that half inch or so extra griptape which can hold your feet a fraction more, but the top edge being very sharp can sometimes cause injuries and also chips up way more easily than a rounder edge.  One guy grinded / sanded down the nose and tail to make it normal round and left the rail edge which stopped with most of the ends chipping up.

They are fun, but not something I would seek out and buy again.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Is that like the Razortop construction from Heroin?

Razortop definitely helps with board feel/control in most situations. But as mentioned it chips up a lot easier. I would totally buy one again, if the shape is right, but I prefer a rounded edge.

Yes that is the one.  A few different companies have done it and all called it different names, but it is just the rounded underside as normal but not rounded at all on the top edge.

Just set up my third Mutant. I can finally say that this is my dream Setup:

Mutant 10'
Ace 66 Trucks (pretty loose, washers removed, stock bushings)
OJ Elite 55 (Best wheels I've ever skated)
Probably Bones Reds or whatever, I dont care about bearings at all
Welcome Candy Bar Rail on the BS Feeble / FS Smith side
