.

These were the most recent DLX egg shaped boards, as far as I can tell anyway (besides the Huffer shape, which comes out a lot more regularly) which only just came out here in Australia, but have been out for a while / maybe sold out in USA, but at least still worth a look if you are chasing a Flyer shape:

Before that was this one too, just in case you want to look:

I almost tagged you in on this. Thanks for the help as always!

Egg shape surfboards (same deal with elliptical rails)  have been around a very long time. Someone could easily have called skate decks eggs before Fos. He certainly played a big role in the current status though.

Anybody have the measurements over the trucks for the GFB shape?

With AF1s the width of the GFB where the axle sits is a little over 8 5/8".

8.5" or 8.75" axles work well. highly recommended shape.

Okay thank you. I have been considering the shape and was wondering if the 44 Classics I have would be too narrow. I’ve skated them on 8.5 popsicles and that feels good so maybe it would be alright.

I'd skate Ace 44 Classics on the GFB for sure.

Heroin Mini Egg: 28.5" x 8.38" WB: 13.375"
Ace 33 Classics: Venom SHR 94a Barrel Bottom Bushing, Ace Stock Top, Khiro Hard Pivot Cups
Boardy Cakes Radials: 49mm 99a
Minilogo Bearings
Shorty's 1" Hardware
Jessup Ultra

Had my first session today and am pretty stoked on it. Spinning/flipping the board is ridiculously easy due to the short length/wheelbase. Slappy tricks are also working remarkably well. The only thing I am having a hard time getting used to is the timing with straight ollies. The short wb and Ace combo is definitely messing with my pop timing.

This is also the first time I've done anything fancy with grip. The top graphic reminds me of the Vision Jinx Mini top graphic from way back, so I had to try a cut-out shape with the grip. Kinda cheesy, but I like it.

Been super curious about those boards for an extra fun setup. Glad to see one setup and that you are enjoying it.

Gotta be a wild ride with that super short wb and Ace classics!

Getting a VIllani egg (9.125”) in a few days.  I got some ace af1 60’s for it, but curious if anyone has run 149’s on one? I kinda want to stay on my 149 Lurpivs, but an 8.75 truck is probably more “correct” . Any thoughts are appreciated!

I first tried 159s which I think might have looked a little more normal to my eye, but then tried 149s and they skated better on the DLX 9.1 egg I got recently.

My boards are all pretty OCD in setup, very much usually wheels on the edge of the deck, axle nuts sometimes slightly over, so it was a surprise that the 149s felt better, but might also have something to do with the comfort of 149s, which are my usual trucks on 8.38 or 8.5 sized boards anyway.

At least seeing what it feels like with what you already have is a good start, or you could try the wider trucks and then change them out if it doesn't feel like it is working.

* I have 159s / 8.75 trucks on 8.6 to 8.75 boards, so that egg could be run with either the 8.5" trucks or the 8.75" trucks, depending on your preference.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Thanks for the insight Brimson.  I think I’ll just set it up with the 149 Lurpivs and if anything looks or feels too off to me I’ll go bigger.  I already own both sizes so I really don’t have anything to lose

149 thunders fits nicely, since the hangar sits further back than an ace/indy.

Has anyone skated both the 9.25 heroin symmetrical egg and the generator gfb? Seems like from the numbers they would be very similar, just curious with the gfb having slightly shorter n/t and the longer wheel base if it somehow changes it more than I’d expect.

Had such a fun session on this thing.

WKND 8.8 egg with 13.875 wb (PS Stix)
Venture 5.8 V-Lights
54mm F4 Classic Full

Wish the trucks were a lil lower. Almost bought Thunder 149 Lights for this, but already had the 5.8s. Happy to skate em again.

Cool setup.. For a sub 14"wb deck, apart from Quasi football shape, the WKND football is among my favorite. The Jart 9.125 eggshape is also pretty good but 14.18wb.

Anyone know the measurements for this shape?? Mainly wanting to know how wide is it over the trucks since the main measurements are on the websites. (Basically the 9.12 DLX egg shape)
9.12 x 32 14.5 wheelbase

This is the same shape as the original Heroin big egg, the Primitive Franky Villani egg, etc. 8.75 axles are probably best

Ok thanks my guy! I already had that board before and was rocking Thunder 161s and I loved the slight hot rod.

I was asking because I have a small board company and want to do an egg shape. But since Generator is not the manfacturer they won't probably have the same mold. I'm even thinking of asking for a 14.25 (or maybe even 14?) wheelbase instead of the 14.5 to make it a bit more custom made.

Generator has the generic "GFB" shape which is just slightly shorter due to twin nose & tail, and a 14.375 wb, but is otherwise pretty identical shape-wise

I ended up with 159s on mine, but I also double drilled both baseplates to end up with a 14" wb and slightly longer kicks, which works well for me, as well as for others who have skated it.

We put 149s on it originally when it was on the 14.5" wb in the regular position, which also worked well for some people, but I prefer the slightly wider trucks on it.  At first I just drilled in the nose end truck, but then I did both and it works best like that.

Generator (or any BBS boards for that matter) are very specific to size for smaller runs / companies, so unless you got a lot of boards in the works or a lot of money to do your own shapes, I would suggest as was said above, just go with the GFB shape as it is there to be used without any fuss and people have said it works quite well.

At least with all the options for double drilled trucks, it makes it way easier to adjust wheelbases without having to re drill the deck, eg redrill one set of trucks and re use them on multiple boards, or get the Venture V8 trucks.  Sure drilling out trucks might be a difficulty for some, but it works great on Indy and Venture I have used like this.

Thanks again for the info guys!

I'm not located in the US so getting my stuff at Generator would be a bit more expensive, so I get my stuff from Mexican woodshops and for a bit extra price I can get my stuff custom Made. So the idea is to make the exact shape (the 9.12 DLX one. I had that exact Grimple Gerwer and I loved it) with a shorter wheelbase.

More power to you if you are able to get things like that.

From what I had heard, making any changes to shapes was very expensive, but I guess it all depends on who you deal with and terms and conditions can play a big part in it too.

Egg boards are soooo confusing.  Been trying to understand how to find the right size. I love the WKND board but recently got a razoregg twin. 9.5 I believe.  I normally ride venture but put on some ace 66 ont he razoregg and it’s been awesome. Can only nollie heel on it tech wise.  What board would line up flush with the ACE 66? I’m really liking the set up but I think if I could go a tad smaller without the trucks going over the edge.  I can only ride flush or a tad bit smaller. But I can’t ride with them sticking out.  Much appreciate any responses.  I was thinking the Frankie Villani 9.125 but at the taper would the ace 66 stick out?  Heated wheel has some rad ones too.  Thanks in advance!
