Early returns are good. Trucks are definitely more Ace-like, and I think these Riptides feel the most like Ace (hard) bushings of any aftermarket brand, so that definitely adds to the feeling. Kingpin clearance is better with the Stage XI baseplate/kingpin and standard-size bushings. I have mine tightened just to the top of the threads and they’re still real loose with not much wheelbite. Good combo.
Not trying to sound like a dick here, but if you have two quantifiers in your description about trying to make your trucks feel like aces, why not just ride aces? Is there something I'm missing that makes Indy a better choice? Nostalgia? Habit? Nazi imagery?
Wasn’t trying to make them feel like Aces. That’s just how it worked out this time, and I was trying to, like, describe the gear, since we’re in the gear forum.
I was mostly curious to see if NHS was blowing smoke when they said Stage 4 isn’t compatible with Stage XI baseplates even though they’ve been selling 215s on a Stage XI plate for a while. I had the regular 6-hole plates, dark green Riptides, and dark green SKFs in the toolbox, so I did it, and it works fine just like I thought it would. I’ll ride ’em with the Stage 4 plate and Indy bushings next time.
Also, it was fucking Skate Shop Day and the biggest truck company on the planet dropped a new product for skateboarders to play with. Is there any better reason?
And if you weren’t trying to sound like a dick, you probably should have left the Nazi comment on the cutting room floor. Commentary was pretty good up until that point.
