Aside from Roger And slap pals nobody’s really going hard for tensor. Like krux does a better job marketing.

Someone needs to step up and do US (or North American) distro. Dwindle seems like they have enough trouble getting Tensor's into shops, no help there. Would someplace small like Theories wanna mess with truck distro? Who's Jeremie tight with?
[close]

I don't think Tensor will ever be prominent in shops, they'll never shake the 'no turn' stigma from years ago; just like Theeve can't shake their QC rep from years ago - even though both trucks are great in their current stages.

Sovereign Sect should nab them ;)

From What I’ve seen from reddit is that a lot of kids get those dwindle completes with the tensor alloy trucks. They break pretty easy, even for beginners and they’re just like fuck tensor
[close]

I was on a mission for a specific board today (dimensions, went looking for Girl but no luck) which meant hitting core shops and a mall store (XB 'Xtreme boardshop - skaters work there and they do stock good shit so whatever) anyway they usually have a few boxes of trucks (big ones on the floor behind the counter) and there is always a Tensor Alloy box, and it's ALWAYS low (and yes, they refresh the stock). They sell because they're cheap (and they carry Dwindle boards (no powell shit really there so no ML).

Sorry for the cyberstalking but holy fuck! That's a horrible name for a shop. Do they have stickers?!?!

I didn't think about younger kids looking down on Tensor too. It's tough to get away from a budget/beginner truck image, shit breaking doesn't help. I know some old dudes still think they don't turn (don't even know about ATG'S) so wouldn't touch them. Lol. What could they do other than rebrand? Maybe pump and dump on the alloy ATG's just to get them out there? Target Venture standard/cast pricing?
[close]

No idea, I try and not stay in there too long; it's better than going to Zumiez! Horrible name indeed but they sell shit my core local would NEVER order (Girl/Choco/Dwindle/Primitive/Numbers/Baker) - I only go in there once every 4-6 months or so to sate my 'gotta have it right now' need for whateverthefuck I'm thinking of: yesterday it was a Girl board (walked out with another fucking DBZ pirmitive board FFS but damn it's the sweetest 8.38 ever).
[close]
I think it'd be funny to rock an Xtreme Boardshop sticker on my board. It's like a spoof/joke but not. What a crazy world.
I'd be in there checking out Crail, Primitive and Numbers shapes/dimensions too. Are the 8.3 dimensions the same as Primitive's online chart?
See any 8.5-8.75" and notice the dimensions? I've seen the 8.6 Hamilton listed as having a 14" wb.

Didn't Degros already do a Tensor ATG review? I remember in his Grind Kang review he mentions something like the baseplate having the same curved bushing seat as Tensor, no bottom washer. Anyone else too lazy to look on YT?

Nope, online chart seems dated and/or they are doing one of shapes/dims.

I swear, I go in looking for 'the shape' and twice now I've walked away with a fucking DBZ primitive board...FFS....AND I set it up with minilogo trucks; I'm waiting for someone to comment in person so I can say my mom got it for me ;)

Anyway, the 8.38 I'm on is true to width but @ 31.925 with a 14.2WB (vs the dims on the site); I think they rounded up on the stickers vs. the site. Doesn't matter tho, best fucking feeling 8.38 in a loong time (last one was numbers), just looking down at it is mentally pleasing.

Basically the same shape as their 8.25" but with a shorter and less pointy tail and fewer fingers of flat. It's about as normal of a popsicle I could imagine. Not pointy, not full/square just right in the middle of both.

Ok. Good to know. I didn't think they'd update that page too often.
That shape looks nice. Tail definitely looks wider than the 8.25 I have, nose does a lil too. I wonder if they're doing fuller shapes in some sizes.
Maybe running out of room on the sticker?
So many things you could say.
It's my kid's board.

Tail is night and.day, I didn't care for the 8.25 tail, too long and a bit pointy. Nose feels the same if not a bit fuller and less square.

Really like it tho. Reminds me of an old Habitat I had (and a H street Hensley...weird).

As for the minilogos, I think I like them because they are low af, like old 149 Thunders used to be....in retrospect, this board mimics two of my all time fav setups and it feels that way (and I skated great on them and on this one so far).

No lie, it's one reason I try and stay away from DLX, the dimensions are wack, except for the SEs and I never see any 8.3 SEs out there...who the fuck skates 32.25s with 14.6WBs @8.38"?

I'm usually a fan of 14.3x and 14.4 WBs tho...with ACE or Theeve...I'm guessing the MLs on the 14.25" WB are making this 8.3 feel a bit more nimble.

Primitive gets a bad rap but the shapes and wood are on point. And I'm certain that DBZ fucking sells shitons.

What are you pairing with the Primitive 8.25 and 8.38? Ventures would add too much at 3.5, so it's either Thunder, Tensor or Indy Forged by my books.

I have a theory that the rise of popularity of Ace / Theeve (or WB shortening trucks) stems from:
1) People riding bigger boards, leading to longer boards and WB, hence the need for trucks that shorten the WB to make it more managable
2) Older skaters coming back to skateboarding and skating more bowls and transition, hence the need for a tighter WB that turns on a dime
3) Growth of large skate parks and plaza that have transition obstacles
4) Slight growth in popularity of transition skating versus street / park exclusively

Sovereign Sect should nab them ;)
[close]

[close]
https://www.instagram.com/xb_xtremeboardshop/

[close]

TAIL

NOSE

[close]
I stole it from a lil kid.
What? Those are my sponsors.
It's a rental. :P
[close]

Shit graphics aside I'm really keen to try a Primitive for my next setup. The long WB on DLX boards are fucking with me hard. 8.25 - 8.38 WB look short at 14 - 14.1875 but I'll gladly take that over a 14.38 - 14.44 on DLX boards and make the adjustment with my ever growing collection of trucks.
[close]

No lie, it's one reason I try and stay away from DLX, the dimensions are wack, except for the SEs and I never see any 8.3 SEs out there...who the fuck skates 32.25s with 14.6WBs @8.38"?

I'm usually a fan of 14.3x and 14.4 WBs tho...with ACE or Theeve...I'm guessing the MLs on the 14.25" WB are making this 8.3 feel a bit more nimble.

Primitive gets a bad rap but the shapes and wood are on point. And I'm certain that DBZ fucking sells shitons.
[close]

Mini-fucking-Logos

Setup the 8.38 MLs (krux pin, ACE tall bottoms, low tops) on an 8.375 deck/52mm wheels, such a good feeling setup, low and wide and super carvy and it didn't feel cramped (14.2"WB). Had a blast on it.

That primitive deck, 8.37 mini logos/ace bushings and 52mm Bones V3s just works; I've always skated best on 8.3s, low trucks and thin wheels...

early 2010s I was riding this:

8.38, Thunder 149s hollows (back when they were 49mm/before the re-design), bones meds and thin Satori wheels - I skated so fucking good on that thing as soon as I set it up, it was crazy. The primitive board has the same 'feel' when I stand on it. Low, wide and light. Guess that's my jam.

Just looked and no dedicated video on Tensors.

I'm pretty sure he did one a while back on the original style Magnesiums (ones with with the 10 on the base plate), but I might be getting that confused with another set of trucks he reviewed.

What's the deal with Film trucks? Seeing some buzz on Slap and a pair popped up on a local 2nd hand site.

How do they affect WB, pop, slide, all that jazz?

Different from what? Thunders and Indy's are pretty damn different from each other. Theeve and Ace are pretty similar to Indy's when it comes to WB offset and turning radius. Film trucks are reportedly very close to a thunder.

Maybe Ventures would give you the new feel you're looking for. Similar WB offset to a Thunder, but pretty different otherwise. Good if you like a stable truck and do lots of tech and manny stuff.

Also, many people seem to be loving the Tensor ATG's. Haven't tried them myself, but they're apparently a completely different geometry compared to old Tensor's (the ones that were basically designed not to turn).

Hop into the Truck Setup thread and follow us down the rabbit hole. WB shortening / lengthening, forged / hollow, weight, bushings, pivot cups and washers.

Personal opinion: Indy and Thunders are a "middle of the road" truck, maintaining or slightly increasing the WB. Great for most setups. Ace, Theeve and Venture are a more use case truck for shortening / lengthening your WB by a large margin. Going up in board width will cause board length and WB accordingly, so pair your trucks accordingly.

What size / brand of board are you looking to ride?

Any opinions on Destructo? Silver? Theeve?

Typically a Thunder or Indy guy, but looking to get back into skating and feel like trying something different.

Destructo is great. Really good trucks, easily on par with the big guys in my book. Just know there's 2 models (I'm excluding the squadrons which are for big boy boards) - the D1 which is a bit higher and indy-like, and the d2 which is similar to a Thunder. I have the d2 and love them, I prefer them to thunder actually.

Silver I've never tried and never wanted to. Don't think I've ever heard anyone gush about them either.

Theeves are really good too. Sort of a weird marriage of venture-like stability on center but very tight turning like an Ace. Older generations have some qc issues but the v3 mostly fixed them. If you ever happen upon a reasonably priced set of their insane ti-hanger axle less trucks (the hanger/axle is machined from a single block of titanium) they're one of the best trucks I've skated hands down. I also have a pair ti-ax and they're great too. The axles on theeves are pretty close together so they pair best with longer wb trucks in my opinion - I don't like them on 14" wb but 14.25 is magic.

What's the deal with Film trucks? Seeing some buzz on Slap and a pair popped up on a local 2nd hand site.

How do they affect WB, pop, slide, all that jazz?

I posted in the regular setup thread about how much I love them the other day. They're really, really good in terms of turning. Be aware that they have the "in-between" axle lengths, so like my 5.5 have an 8.38" axle (which is a plus in my book, I love that length).

They're a wb shrinker, I'll have to look when I get home but Im fairly certain I measured them as being a little over 1/2" shorter than thunder titanium team 148. Pop is awesome, probably the best thing about them besides the turn. The pop feels like a forged BP venture to me, which is perfect. Stock bushings are excellent and the top one has a little nipple on it so they kind of interlock, you keep leaning into them expecting to hit the dead zone or bottom out and it doesn't happen. They turn fairly tight but have a little bit of surf to them, and they're super stable on center. Grinding I haven't really done because I'm trading mine to a SLAP pal as soon as I get the hollows (I ordered hollows and they sent me raws so I'm waiting on the hollows now) and I want them to be fairly pristine. I did do a quick crook on an unwaxed curb and it felt fine, but maybe ask Steve about that aspect.

They're also crazy versatile - I originally had them on my regular setup (8.25 PS Stix scumco, 14.25wb) and they were amazeballs so I decided to experiment a little and try longer wheelbase.

First I tried an 8.25 antihero hurricane with a 14.38" wb and that was great too.

Next I tried a 8.25 toy machine with a 14.5" wb - I had to loosen them up a little to get the same turn but no ghost pop and it didn't mess my timing up.

Finally the ultimate test - 8.25 heroin with a ludicrous 14.7" wb (ive never really been able to skate this deck with any degree of proficiency because of the wb so I just use it as a cruiser) - and the Films passed with flying colors. I did have a little ghost pop at first, but after about half a dozen ollies/180s I adjusted and it felt just fine. Obviously not as good as my normal setup, but totally skateable.

So overall I would give them extremely high marks. They're so good that I'm actually going to downsize my truck collection because I really can't think of a single situation that I would skate thunders over these. So if anyone wants a cheap set of lightly used 148/149 and doesn't care if they have a stupid graphic hit me up. $20 shipped. I think I have a set of 147s too.

Does anyone know axle width on the 5.25 size? Highly considering giving these a go if I ever burn through my Thunder collection.

So if anyone wants a cheap set of lightly used 148/149 and doesn't care if they have a stupid graphic hit me up. $20 shipped. I think I have a set of 147s too.

That review on the Film truck was some good shit! Unfortunately the ones for sale here are probably for the 5.0 size, too tiny.

Does anyone know axle width on the 5.25 size? Highly considering giving these a go if I ever burn through my Thunder collection.

Oh just go ahead and buy them..

Although I’m happy with Theeve’s, the fact that these can hold the nut for an inverted kingpin AND they can still turn good, makes me curious to try them out. I might pull the trigger next paycheck.

I would be putting a krux pin in, even though they sell the inverted ones. I think a downlow krux pin would provide more clearance and look a little better.

Okay!!! They're one of the "less popular" brands I can see myself getting into because they don't have any inherent lameness such as Krux, Tensor, Mini Logo etc. They're just a cool small European truck co from Jeremy Daclin, and they support Leo Valls all of which I can definitely back with no shame.

I need to do a proper update for you guys but the short version is that I LOVE the Film trucks and I haven’t loved another truck since my theeve days.

I’m going to get non believers for this but they have Venture pop with the thunder quick turn at first and then the turn gets deep like ace.  Hard as hell to wheelbite as well despite the deep turn.

I don’t see myself skating anything else
