The combo of Tom Knox on the board and Jacob Harris behind the camera is one of two absolute geniuses you can tell really know how to work with each other, holy shit. I laughed in disbelief and replayed so many clips in this several times. Part ticks all the right boxes to be considered the 2020 equivalent of a Ricky in EE3 or PJ in WHL to me, avant-garde approach, good taste and flawless execution on both sides of the lens. I also feel like there's a lot of authenticity behind the general direction that's bound to fly over most people's heads including my own but can still be felt regardless of all the Thrasher and NB branding you could think of because the duo is just that good.
All this.
Magnificent skating, filming and music. This is one of the best parts of all time, without a shadow of a doubt.
What struck me in particular on the second viewing is how you really can't tell if he planned some of those last second maneuvers or is improvising, like the fs board to fakie on the brick ledge after the bs 360 down the stairs and the sw manual across the street.
In any case I've never seen anyone do anything like this on this level, it's like Video Days Gonz with Suciu level tech skills on the crustiest and most well-chosen spots imaginable.
And all this.
SOTY is not even relevant to this. This is genuinely creative, new, unseen and unbelievable. It’s modern but timeless. I totally get the evocations of Video Days Gonz, Suciu, PJ WHL and Ricky in EE3. And that’s the company it should be in, not Jamie Foy, Daveed, Milton, Leo etc.
SOTY is beneath this part, this skating.
