Does anyone know which bushings do best in freezing weather?

I never realized just how shitty life with frozen bushings was until this winter.

Bones Mediums would be your best bet I think.

This is what I have resorted to recently. The squeakiest goddamn bushings in the world, but at least they work when it's near or just below freezing.

Two questions about this screenshot I took of Troy Gibson (3:32 from the Violet promo):

1. What exactly gives some violet boards this look? It seems like either the graphic or the top ply color wraps around the edges, and it looks cool as shit, even when chipped away and not pure black. Do other board companies do this? If I get any board from another board company that has a black top ply (I haven't found any), will it look like this?

2. What's up with black shit all over his shoes. I've noticed this in other clips too over the years, but not common enough where it's obvious. My shoes have never worn like that.

[close]

1 - full dipped board

2 - spraypainted the shoes black

8.25/5.6s?

troy is very excellent at skateboarding

Yeah Troy’s dope. 5.2s are better tho

Another vote for Bones. I was going crazy with frozen bushings that just would not turn and put Bones in both my setups a couple weeks ago and they work great when it's freezing.

Bout to order a deck. I been skating a 8.75 with a 14.25 wheel base and recently switched to ace 55s. Loved how it felt on forged Indy’s but I only got one very short session on the aces and weather has ruined every other session. But I been wanting to move up in wheel base. So I found a polar 8.625 with a 14.375 wheel base but also found a heated wheel egg 9.125 with a 14.25 wheel base. I never skated an egg and want to so I’m like which do I go for ? I’m afraid I could love or hate either one. But financially I can’t buy both.  So should I get the longer wheel base or skate an egg cause I’ve been wanting to skate an egg. Also is the heated wheel bbs?

Does the krux k5 kingpin fit into the Thunder inverted by any chance?
If not, is there a other option I could replace the Thunder inverted one?
Thanks!

Heated Wheel is BBS.

Egg shaped boards can be a bit of a hit or miss, depending on what you are used to or even how much of a kick you like to have, eg small pointy kick, or normal kick.  I haven't seen that 9.125 egg, but check the tail length before anything else.

Is it this one below - 6.3 tail looks like trouble to me.

https://www.tactics.com/the-heated-wheel/fastball-925-egg-shape-skateboard-deck

Polar boards are pretty much the same as you size up, so that wouldn't be a big difference in wheel base compared to most other boards, unless it is from a brand that has a lot of flat after the bolts or something, in which case it might feel a bit steep, but other than that, things would still feel fairly normal.

Polar also has the bigger boards too, depending on where you can find them.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Super random and weird but I recently watched a video about asics’ and the guy in the video mentioned Brant atchley had a pro shoe on element? I really don’t remember this at all I remember the Levi’s and the omahighs, tosh shoes and what not but it was a high top slip on with a strap? Think this dweeb was smoking something but if it is real it’s pissing me off I don’t remember it. I understand element shoes weren’t the cream of the crop at all but it’s annoying me that I didn’t know this.

I’ve had good luck with ace bushings

Same, first time I'm skating in the winter and I can't get my bushing tightness sorted because of the cold. I'm on Venture with Ace Hard Low, I think the regular Ace Low would have been better.
Venture Truck Height:

Bones, dlx mx purples , and ace classics. Those are the only winter bushings I know of right now.  They used to be this brand that was identical, the bones, but they had blue colored bushings. They were called bitter bushings, but they got shut down I heard.

I have a wide 11 the Leos fit great. almost like a glove.
but for reference. I have the anti-hero dunks. and they are a little snug. If I went up a half size they'd be way too big.

everyone's foot is shaped a little differently.

Me. I mostly skate a Huffer shape (9.18 eggy shape with a 14/75" WB) and every once in awhile I get a smaller board thinking my flip tricks will be better but they never are. During Covid I spent a lot of time on the Crailtap Couch board and while its wide at 9.25" the short WB re-opened a lot of old flip tricks for me. But then I took them to the Huffer and they felt much better.... Might be b/c I'm 6', 200lbs with Size 12 feet...

6’6 with 12 inch feet, around 200-210 lbs
9” is my sweet spot, refuse to go lower at this point
probably not easier for smaller folks but good for me

i was playing myself trying to skate anything smaller

3 flips are the only trick i find easier with the shorter board, but i think its mostly just cause i dont practice them and my technique is not very refined

I'm 6 foot 3, but a size 10. Normally skate an 8.38x14.38 lately with Indy's but I've used em all. I've got a Baker 8.25 and I tried it with forged hollows and it's so light I feel like it's somehow harder to skate and flip.

How do I save Henry? I wanna alleviate some of that pressure in his skull for him but I don’t got no good anesthetics around. Can someone take away the terminator’s phone? That fool thinks he’s buying condoms for Hamas.

I wonder if Stevie’s like that too? Make more sense for Stevie. He’s a fucking business owner. Idk. I guess Sold out is sold out. Henry don’t know his ass from his elbow. And even though I want more terminator boards, GK shouldn’t give him shit else  unless they with the opps too.

I think he's talking about Henry Sanchez for the first part, whose known for going on unhinged right-wing rants on instagram. I think the second part is about Stevie Williams and how DGK is doing wack collabs? I don't know if Stevie has any conservative leanings.

There’s a sweet spot. Sometimes the tail hits too fast for my liking but my straight 8 are always better on a small (7.75-8”) board. I do the rest a bit better with a bit more space (8.25”). Never been a fan of 8.1”

Been wearing NB 1010s for 2 years while skating in the warm tropics, great for durability and enough board feel. Now I'm skating in the UK winter and I feel like I cant feel my board anymore. Thinking of swapping to a thinner cupsole like the NB 600 or 440.

Does anyone else swap shoes between seasons?

Does anyone else miss when shoes had less branding on them? I feel like in this era, if you want a decent skate shoe, you gotta be cool with a giant ass logo on the side. Obviously there are exceptions like the half cab. But damn.

For example, I’ve been tempted to buy some ASICS gel vickas or nb 440’s but the giant logo on both shoes turn me off. It’s just not aesthetically pleasing to my taste. But I also grew in a time when the accel was THE shoe.

I know this is a me problem. But just hoping someone else can relate, haha.
