Anybody got some legit reasons not to support Globe? Im thinking about buying a pair.

It seems on here the general consensus is nobody wears them/theyre dead, but this is cool to me, I love to be different. I also genuinely like how they look [the old models], I like fat potato shoes. Im not worried about being a tech wizard right now [cope], im more of a hucker/hesh type guy.

Anyway whats the word on bro? Skater owned right? Been around? Controled by Blackrock or something? Not doing anything for the community? Racist/sexism?

My friend skates globe religiously and they're made of some very cheap material from what I can tell, they always blow out / get destroyed very quickly (month or two of kickflips and he's doing it with his sock). I've seen his sole become detached and crumble on separate occasions too. They do look cool tho, he skates the ones with the air bubble on the heel.

I don't wanna discourage you from gettin the swag tho. I haven't heard anything shady about the business and he says they skate goood.

Thanks bro. To me they look kinda hard [not in the good way like physcially stiff]. Seems like they are focusing more on casual/mature shoes so I could see them not putting as much effort in the old models.

I will have to say, I am a bit discouraged but its all good. Really just looking for an alternative to Accels cause everything eS does is pissing me off. I think dunks would work good for me but i refuse to wear them.

Yeah, they're definitely stiff ur right, I think that's why they break so easily - Newtons third law of motion and all dat. The ones my friends skates have no tongue, like they're all one solid piece. I've never seen anything like it - it leads to a very blocky shoe if you like that, I tried them on and it felt like I stepped inside two bricks haha, although I skate old skools so def not my thing.

Alternative to Accels - Etnies Sal 23? I always thought they were one and the same until I saw the Ben Degros video... They r swag AF tho. Dunks r good, maybe even the best skate shoe but the price and the ethics of purchasing are fukt.

Yeah 23's look cool to me but kinda the same thing SoleTech Nidecker. Wish I was more hyped on the brand, a cool video would help. Sucks they lost Aimu.

Nike I fell like is getting enough + they bought not built, I guess they build alot. I hate that I care about this shit and I barely know what im talking about. I need to go skate. Damn its cold outside.

Maybe some DC's then? Stag, Manteca? Stags are dope and Manteca is like the DC dunks. I feel like everywhere you look a shoe company will be doin some unsavoury shiz.

I know how you feel about the temperature, feel like it's been winter for 7 months here haha. Maybe I just have a bad memory...

Years ago I bought a pair of globe Dover shoes which are their Chelsea boot style skate shoes. High quality, I liked that part of it was made from recycled algae so environmentally conscious, they skated pretty well overall no complaints at all

I just wasn’t stylish enough to buy them again. I felt like I had to wear a collared shirt and khakis with them
to pull them off

Dont be so quick to abandon your inner Dylan Rieder man. I been sportin a couple collared shirts lately to signal to the world that i am indeed important and mature, i just like to mix it with some old clunky skate shoes so they know im a degen as well

Can someone explain a fakie biggie no comply? I cannot envision it from the first person. Like which rail you step off or anything.
Y’all know the trick step off biggie. That kid filoso does them into all kinds of shit.

My mind can’t grasp it and this upsets me on a spiritual levellevel. Plz hook me up with the instructions.
[close]

It's a bit of a mind boggler, yet simple.

Step off your toe rail, but so that it happens in the direction of your movement rather than as an actual lateral step to the side, if you catch my drift. Start "cabbing" your board just before, so the step-off happens when the board is already at a 90-ish degree angle. You of course need to do a bit of scoop-ish/shove motion with your back foot to iniatiate the spin for the biggie. Your feet are doing a kind of a cross-step in the process, but the crossing is just ever so slight.

Then it's just a question of jumping back on the board with your step-off foot. It's easier (and more stylish imo) if you step back on at 270 degrees and pivot the rest. That said, your rear foot (the one that does the scoop, not the one you use for the step-off) of course needs to land on the tail for the pivot.

Sounds complicated, but isn't. It'll click once you try it a few times. Rule of thumb: the board never goes "behind" you. You need to step off and spin the board so that it spins in front of you when looking at your direction of movement. This is key.

I used to be able to do them in '89-90, no cap. Yes, I'm old. Haven't tried one since, really. Need to get back on them, thanks for the reminder.

Hell yes we doing this tomorrow. My fucking heads about to explode. I need to move my body an shit

IMO
Indy, Ace, (and probably SLappy) are better using the hollow versions, they are already heavy enough as is.
Venture debatable. those joints are kinda heavy but not too bad.
Thunder, Lurpiv, you dont need the hollow version, its already light enough.

Has anyone skated the Samba XLGs?
Ive only seen them at non-skate mall shops, but they felt pretty nice in hand.  The thick gum sole appeals to me more than the regular ADV version.

I need some recommendations on a shoe that is forgiving to an old mans feet. Recently I tried some Chucks..feet hurt pretty bad after skating. So I tried the new Louie's today, and the soles of my feet feel like I was tortured all day. I know there will be some foot pain at my age after battling all day, but there has to be something out there to help.

That's THE answer. Only other alternative would be 808.

Fastbreaks are pretty dope. Cupsoles, decent durability depending on the version/materials you get. Good protection with the mids and insoles have good cushion.

That being said, I've never skated NB that seems to be the Old Mans standard and they should put a big O on the side for the Oldheads.

Man I have some Fastbreaks and they're not terrible, but compared to a New Balance skate shoe, it's like.. I don't know, maybe skating some Airwalks from 1995 or something. They're just not even in the same category for me. The New Balance is a modern sneaker taking in decades of lessons learned from generations of skate shoes and the Fastbreaks look pretty cool.

Anyone noticing terrible quality with Indy trucks since their move to China?  Broken axles on hollows as well as kingpins?

Most Independent trucks have been made in China for at least a decade now, right?

I've been on Ace for the past few years, but when I skated Indy, the quality seemed as good as ever. I believe people in China can operate a forge.

Yea I dunno Fastbreaks just work for me, simple durable and looks cool. I wasn't even really trying to compare the two, I was just saying I like these but New Balance would prob be the popular recommendation. I've got no doubt NB puts out a quality shoe with all thoselessons learned but it's like Nerd Balance amiright

I'm only speaking for the forged and hollow trucks, I switched to Thunders/ventures a while back. What made me switch aside from ideolgys was a few sets of trucks broke here and there right around the axels, hence this initial comment. Idk about the standards but the lighter ones seems to have some QC issues.

Anybody ever ordered from concrete-visionary.eu?
My feet are really killing me and I'm curious about FP shoes (yes, I know. I'm desperate)
Found these on my size for 50€

Friend of mine has ordered FP insoles from them, should be fine.
