Its crazy how prople still buy the idea that product made in china lose quality when china makes everything we own in some degree and they ve been making them for more than a decade or even outsourcing their production.
Imagine believe in a American Industry in 2025.

Honestly the casual Sinophobia on display everywhere in the “west” is crazy. Do people really think that the Chinese cannot operate a forge?

I know this is hardly the thread for this conversation, but as far as American “reindustrialization” goes, well there’s no history of a country rebuilding their industrial capacity like this, but we know what the process of industrialization looks like and it has never been pretty. I think a lot of people feel we can flip a switch and turn Flint, Michigan back on.

Do they (Flint) have drinkable water yet?

Canceled my Amazon account and want to get a roll of jessup ultra before prices go up. Anyone know any good sites to get a full roll/box? I can’t tell if the jessup site is wholesale only and the only maybe legit place I could find is Groundandsea.com and I can’t find any conclusive info online whether or not it’s a scam site. I don’t want to have to make and another Amazon account just to buy a roll of grip.

Yes. You can firecracker a curb as well. Tom Knox does it and it infuriates Joa Fields. Tom should do it more
Alright! Errr, my friend does this so much there are suspect marks on the tail because they suck at tail slides.

Are blazer mods still the best vulc for support and lifespan? I haven’t skated vulcs for a few years, but recently have been skating a pair of blazers that I had on hand from a few years ago and I’m wondering what other vulcs are this good? How are the nb vulcs? Do they have decent support?

yes that's the main point
Better clearance and a low profile head that sticks less

but sooner or later it gets "wobbly"

I have had a few pair of the Foy 306 and a pair of GT Blazers. the Foy felt like you can skate them right away where the blazers felt like they took awhile to work in, felt really stiff at first. The Foy felt like they started to get floppy after about 6 months or so, but the blazers once they got worked in felt like they held the shape for a really long time and still feel really good after a year of having them (i did skate other shoes in between)

so I just got some venture V8 5.2’s in the mail. Literally bought them for the baseplate 🤣. I’m gonna use the baseplate on a set of venture 5.0 lows I ordered for my tech setup.

what I’m wondering is, do the red venture bushings, have the same bottom and top height as hi venture bushings? I mean, I’m gonna compare when I have everything. just curious.

I did notice though, the translucent blue bushings that come in the new venture V8’s have a bottom bushing that is 1mm shorter than all other venture hi bushings I have.

oh! also, has anyone ever used the green loose truck venture bushings in a pair of specifically venture low’s.?

thank you in advance.
This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

love venture lo’s
haven’t used the loose truck kit in them. the top bushing from the loose truck kit is shorter than the stock bushings, and would cause the trucks to sit a little lower, i believe.

I’ve bought a set of the venture loose conversion bushings before in venture high’s but it was unmanageable. there was absolutely no control, way too lose. the bottom bushing is the same height, but yea, top bushing in them is shorter.

All the Venture bushings are the same height, or supposed to be, across all their models of trucks, regular, low, etc but as you said the V8 bushings do appear a little lower in their new bottom bushings. Then the loose kit has a lower top bushing but still the same normal bottom bushing.

For trucks in general, the bottom bushing is the main thing that controls the turn and changes geometry, taller bottom = more turn and quicker, lower bottom = less turn and slower, but the top bushing doesn't affect the geometry of the truck anywhere near as much as the bottom bushing does, so much as it gives more or less kingpin clearance, although a very squashed down low top bushing can limit the amount of turn as the hanger can make contact with the washer and effectively stop the truck from turning past a certain point.

That said, I will often reshape or cut down the top bushing, or use low top bushings on most of my setups, so I can get the kingpin nut down lower and more often than not angle grind off the head of the kingpin so I have way more clearance.

The loose truck kit can be used to do the same thing, so even though it might feel stupidly loose with the kingpin nut flush, tightening it down how ever much you need after breaking the bushings in then means you can grind off the top of the kingpin itself to give a lot more clearance for the Venture Low hanger.

Note: angle grinding down kingpins is something you want to do very gently, as heating up the kingpin too much can cook your bushings, so I just go a little at a time, not go too hard on it and more than anything just take off the front edge if needed, even though it might look funny, that is all you really need to take off, until the hanger wears down a lot more.

I have mixed and matched a lot of parts including the Venture, standard, low, this and that, so I think the low hanger would benefit from the low top / loose truck kit bushings in the method stated above, but I guess before doing anything permanent, try different configurations and see what feels most comfortable.

Bushings do need to be broken in though - the green ones do firm up enough to make them stable, but it takes a few sessions of just rolling around and not putting too much pressure on them from side to side as there would be with normal skating.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

admittedly i am being lazy not digging through all the bushing/washer discussions but how much difference would i expect swapping flat washers into stock thunders? i have them with kingpin flush and wish they felt just a bit looser but don't want to order anything or go farther than corner hardware.

I was quite surprised how much of a difference the different washers felt, eg deeper or even more cupped washers (felt quite stiff and tight) when compared to flatter washers (making things way more surfy and loose feeling), so completely flat washers would really make things feel way more loose than with any regular washer.

Even just as a test, turn the top washer upside down and put the nut back on where it was before - crazy difference right there.

Most bushings will only be able to move as much as the washer allows, so not having any washer stopping the bushing from being pushed out side to side means that the truck will turn a lot more quickly for the same amount of pressure.

I like the flatter washer feeling, more so than completely flat washers, which is comparable to no washers at all with some bushings, especially the softer ones, but on other softer bushings, having a deeper cupped washer keeps things loose feeling without going all the way to wheelbite too easily.

It is fun to experiment with different options, if you have them, but even just simple washers from a hardware store work well enough, although they usually bend out of shape way more easily than the Bones flat washers do.

thanks so much! i figured you'd have the answer. :) i wish i had thought of just flipping over top cuz i was just messing around our indoor, seeing if thunders would make a 14 wb board feel less cramped than my usual ace. gonna grab some flat washers tomorrow, guessing stainless is best hardware store option? with a little more wiggle i bet these will feel good on this board. i impulse bought two of same board and have some slight madness trying to make friends with it. turn was fun with ace but also felt like i'd fall forward coming of transitions fast a lot.

Thought on trucks skinnier than the board ?

I made an offer for Indy hollows 144 and I’m on a 8.5 deck. Can’t cancel but they’re already priced low and  and I still offered $10 less so might not go through.

Can anyone measure and take pics of a new Indy 149 (preferably hollow) axle with no axle nuts on with a measuring tape to confirm that it's actually 8.38? I measured a pair at a shop recently with that result, friend measured solid axle with different results.

And maybe a pic from the side, and a pic of the little hole in the axle, and then one from the front and one from the back, and then one with the axle nuts tightened all the way, and one of the baseplate if its face down ass up and maybe a photo of the girth and then
