I’ve only ridin spitfires last decade or so, kinda wanna switch it up out of curiosity, have any of yall ridden satori wheels recently? Never had a pair and kind of want to, just checked out their website and they sell boards and stuff now too?
Did you only skate the Formula Four wheels, or did you skate the original formula too?
Just the difference between the two options of formula from Spitfire is enough to make me want to stick with the Formula Four, more than any other wheel type, even though I still have a lot of the original formula wheels on boards and around the shop. Original formula are way more likely to flat spot, more likely to wear quickly and take a while to wear in nicely, especially if they are brand new fresh white, compared to older yellowed / cured which hold up way better.
That said, some people will often enjoy any other wheels easily enough, even if others would say Spitfire or Bones are the top of the wheel pyramid and everything else is below them in terms of quality, performance and general feel of how they ride.
I know for some, Spitfire wheels are just getting too expensive, so they are trying other options because they have to, or they have a preference for a local brand or something else. Sure they are all wheels, but the difference between some brands is so significant that some people go back to Spitfire (or Bones) and are happy not to change again.
As for Satori, I have two different versions of their wheels, but I don't know what the current versions are. The ones I have, as Beach Chicken said, from Creative and somewhere else, are reasonable and ok, yeah they are wheels, but I don't go looking for the board I have them on at all, just to skate those wheels, if that is enough of an indication of preference.
That's my perspective anyway.
