Does any other company use the gx1000 8.375 shape? Its 14.25, labelled 32.25 but measures closer to 32, on the mellower side

I’m piggybacking onto this GX1000 shape question, but about the 8.25”.

It’s almost flat at the top of the nose, and I really love the shape. I haven’t bought anything of significant value from my local in the past few months, so I was hoping that at least one other brand uses the same BBS mold.

Is short wheelbase here to stay? All the 8.75 - 9 inch decks are short this spring. Is Antihero my only option this year for a 15 inch or near wheelbase? Even skatesamples tightened up the 9”er wheelbase. No love for the tall oafs.

I had to go back to the Skate Samples site and check and sure enough they have updated the list with the G90R which is the newer shorter version.

There is still the 8.75 board with 14.75 wb for any brands that use Generator, or even from Skate Samples I guess, but I am sure I have seen a fair number of others still around, even though I can't think of any right this minute, besides local here to AU.

If you are in USA or anywhere that gets the DLX BBS boards, then I think you wouldn't be running out of them, the orange eagle, or the new "Libirdty" BA graphic on the 9 x 33 / 15 wb version should still be around.

There have also been a number of the 8.8+ boards I have seen that are almost 33 and almost 15" wb too, but it just depends where you are, or if anyone has any, but Magenta does one, as did some other brands that I got, all BBS wood too.  These ones are so close to the usual 9 x 33, but just a little bit smaller all over, but not by much.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

skatesamples told me the short is in, and long is out due to low demand. "no longer being offered for samples." idk if that means brands won't be offering it either? maybe not as much.

that's the only shape i skate too. when SS told me that i was horrified and they were kind enough to gather up 10 for me which are the decks i warped by keeping them upright since i don't usually store decks

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=120185.msg4479888#msg4479888

but i've kept them pressed since then and I think they're actually fixed. i could send you maybe up to 3 or 4 at cost + shipping if you're desperate for some of that shape. i would expect antihero will always have at least the orange eagle though.

also i've seen opera sometimes have 15 wheelbase 9's, a lot of them are shorter too so double check, but they definitely have 15 sometimes

It sucks that short skaters stole our dimensions and mutated it into the bastardized stub that we see today. The orange Eagle and BA better keep it real. The T-Funkification of 9” boards in my opinion, blows.

I get it, as I have both the orange eagle and the stubby versions of DLX boards in 9" width, which are two very different boards to ride, but I think it would be good to have two or more options in every width anyway, even if it might cause a few issues.

Then to think that 9 x 33 / 15" shape has been around for a good while now and if sales have been declining, at least some boards are still out there and seem easy enough to get, compared to no woodshops or brands making them at all anymore.

In saying that I am still yet to see or try the newer R shape that they have, only skated the orange eagle and the Anchor shape from DLX which is 9 x 32 with 14.3 or so wb, which was too stubby for my liking, but maybe something a little more in between could work well enough.

I had also seen Creature still makes their own 9 x 33 with 15 wb, as did a couple of other brands, but I am most comfortable on BBS wood / concaves, so I hadn't mentioned them before.

If you guys are in USA you could check with some shops, who had posted they had shop boards from Generator with that 9 x 33 / 15 shape, eg Black Hole shop, as per the Woodshop shop boards listing.

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=120409.msg3729105#msg3729105

* It might be a bit old now, for some shops, but that would still be worth checking as shop boards are cheaper than pro boards.

Edit:  Said Black Hole shop above, but maybe had meant Black Market - both listed as BBS for shop boards though.

Scram has a 9” popsicle that’s 15”wb and I’m pretty sure 35th Ave has one as a shop deck option as well. Can you confirm @144p ?

We don't have one in stock but Black Market Skateshop makes the scram decks and they use the same popsicles we do for our shop decks, standard bbs 9 shape that has a 15" wb.
Example, this shop deck we have 9's with 15" wb bbs

Does Steve Caballero still make money on every pair of half-cabs sold, or did he sell brand rights to Vans?

he talks about it on the 9 club but I can't remember the details. I just remember he said that over time the royalty was significantly reduced at some point.

I’ve ordered a Grindline deck from Black Market. Loved it!
So, 35th and Black Market will continue to sell 9x33/15wb shop boards? Or will they shorten length and WB once you sell through the stock?

i promise, 9/33/15wb decks are not going anywhere
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Appreciate it. The two shops I went to near my place aren’t really holding it down with the old dimensions. They are fully embracing the short and wide. I’ve been riding one for 5 weeks and I’m totally over it.

I'm an orange eagle guy but I've also skated the 9.0 from Wool Skateboards out of NY and it feels like the same set up to me. Not sure where they get their wood but guessing it's BBS.

Couple questions:

What are the mellow concave deck companies these days?

How does the Ishod Wair Max fit? Is it narrow like his first model?

Also has anyone skated the LRAB Cm002 and does it fit tts or is it half size down like the other LRABs

Black Market does shop decks for all the shops in the area. Ordering blanks from a few different spots and they have a heat transfer press so it’s their main hustle. We are subject to whatever shapes they have, sometimes it’s a longer wb and sometimes shorter. I try to note the dimensions on our site listings but lately the shapes have been assorted and tough be consistent. You
Can always email or text us and I can check to see the dimensions so you don’t get something weird.

I guess it depends on your definition of mellow, but also on the size of the board too, eg some 8.25s I have had recently feel practically flat to me, when I am more used to wider boards, but then other people might notice differences more in other sizes.

Baker OG Concave has always been said to be more mellow than most, but I think any DLX board with a IV stamp should be more on the mellow side, when thinking about any BBS made boards.

Some other brands are quite flat feeling, maybe more so cause the concave is quite minimal, especially in side to side concave, with pretty minimal kicks like a lot of China made boards that are coming through that I see round here.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

On a HLC deck currently and it's almost as flat as the Ishod twin I had in 2021.

Powell and Mini Logo have some of the flattest boards right now
