Are tactics shop decks still bbs wood? Need a new board but don’t want to pay 70 bucks for one at the moment

Not sure what size you are looking for but SoCal Skate shop has BBS blanks (blanks with G* in their name) https://socalskateshop.com/SoCal-G825RS-Blank-Skateboard-Deck-Green-Stain-8-25x32.html#!?cc_decks=133051&c=cc_grip-tape

Interesting they have blanks from PS Stix, Generator and Clutch all in 1 shop, pretty cool if you wanted to do a side by side comparison of all 3 brands. There's 1 brand with a M, probably a new shape from Clutch:
https://socalskateshop.com/SoCal-Blank-M8-Skateboard-Deck-Teal-Stain-8-5x32-75.html#!?cc_decks=133492&c=cc_grip-tape
Venture Truck Height:

5.0 & 5.2 LO
STANDARD - 1.88” - 47.75mm
FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI

The BBS / Generator blank boards had their spec sheet up a while back, link here:

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=120409.msg4016120#msg4016120

The 8.5 is a good one, 32.3 or so long with 14.5 wb, but the Generator blank in 8.38 is only 14.38 in the wheelbase, so not the usual DLX size / shape that is also used by Baker / Deathwish, DGK and some others too.

I skate both of those and have lots of them, so I like to compare them whenever I see any others too.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Does it work out ok for you guys in USA to get only one or two of those boards, or it only works out well if you get five or more from the site, when you add in shipping too?

So Cal listing for that exact board (currently out of stock)

https://socalskateshop.com/SoCal-G838-Blank-Skateboard-Deck-Orange-Stain-8-38x32-125.html

8.38x32.125 SoCal G838 Blank Deck - Orange Stain
$39.95
$33.96 on sale

As for other places, the So Cal store and any shop boards that are using BBS / Generator wood, if you don't mind graphics, as per the list I had compiled here:

https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=120409.msg3729105#msg3729105

I know some shops change up their suppliers a bit more frequently than others, not to mention some graphics are often not wanted by some people, but if anyone else has any other shop board info besides what I have there, it would be good to update or add to that list.

For now I will post the list below, just to get a good idea where I am headed with it, but I will only update the Woodshop firt page listing, with more info as anyone else provides it.

Thanks.

Nice.

Interesting that individual riders choose specific woodshops for their boards.

Anyone have any ideas as to which woodshop is in Ohio for this one?

Vu Skateshop in Baltimore https://vuskateboardshop.com/collections/skateboard-decks/vu-skateboard-shop and
Little Whale Skateshop in Southern Maryland https://www.littlewhaleskateshop.com/ both use South Central for all their shop decks.  Great wood, and both offer shop twin tails/noses!

Also check out https://www.mikeduffygang.com/baltimoreboardbrewery they operate out of Charmcity Skatepark, have a low minimum run and use south central for a lot of their wood, but also have other options as well.  Give them a call an support a small east coast business!

Graphic is definitely dope!  But I agree, not a fan of clutch decks.  I had a hopps/quartersnacks collab deck that was an 8.1 clutch deck... thought I was going to love it, but ended up absolutely hating it... tried to ride it for a week and a half and ended up giving it away... it be like that sometimes...

What's the word on Watson boards? Description says mellow. I like mellow boards...tell me more

That OG logo is one of the few Toy graphics I'd be excited to skate.

I didn't bring an angle finder, but the top concave and the kicks were both pretty mellow, especially compared to all the BBS boards on the wall. The PS-made Toy Machine boards were pretty mellow as well, especially the 8.25s.

Toy Machine boards on Watson wood. Boy they’re all over the place! Still mostly seems like PS for pro models, though.

Just had a DGK 8.25 delivered, made in Mexico on the kayo corp sticker on the plastic wrap. No stickers on the board, only a single circle stamp between front truck holes, no other identifiers on the deck. BBS made?

Yes, that is classic BBS right there.

Toy Machine 101…..good graphics=bad wood……if they just ran the classics in PS or BBS….would be a poor man’s Eagle…

Oh I was under the impression that Watson was good wood. I know that generally a lot of the TM team boards are from Chinese wood shops, though.

Sea Rat is still pressing/shaping/screening his own boards, but he now also has a “shop board” made on PS wood. Not bad at $50, either.

Not sure if that rates for this thread, but love Dom’s work so take any opportunity to shout him out.

I just hadn’t been a fan of Watson for years….too flat and dead…I think I had a cruiser board of sorts in the last decade and was not impressed…

Just picked up the inverse of this. Green stain, yellow graphic.

Has the USA barcode sticker, but not the Watson laser

@WelcomeToHell did you find the rails on your TM to be more angular and not perfectly rounded?
