I was window shopping skate mafia decks on skatewarehouse and they all have a made in the USA thing wrote under the thumbnail. Looking at the wb its listed at  14.2  so is it safe to say they are pressed at HLC in Houston?

yes, Sk8mafia has a distribution deal with HLC. So except for some TJ Rogers decks that use DSM impact decks. It's all HLC wood.

The impact decks are still printed by HLC, just sourced from DSM/Chop

Random question. Brands that changed from PS to BBS (Quasi, GX, WKND, etc) seem to have the same measurements on their sites post move. Since Schmitt measures decks with the concave, does anyone know if they’re longer now? Ex: I had a PS 8.125 GX deck that was labeled 31.75” long, but measuring straight across, it was closer to 31.4”. Is the BBS pressed deck 31.75” or 31.4”?

To update that initial question from the previous page:

The directory says that ATM have been BBS since 2021 and were Clutch in 2020. Does anyone know if these are Clutch or BBS?

  https://sopdistribution.com/products/atm-tiger?variant=39952930537629

I know that I will always be able to buy skateboard decks but the How big is your stack and Tariffs threads got me a little concerned that the prices could go up quite a bit and I only have one spare deck at the moment. I just ordered three of these for $92 w/free shipping. One for me and one for each of my kids. I emailed ATM and it's BBS wood. The 8.38 has an 14.5 wheel base, which I like and the 8" is 14.25, which the kids both like. If the skatepocalypse happens, we'll all be riding ATM!

Mostly of Quasi is PsStix(just received the new delivery)
they add a sticker on the bottom for concave and shape
Some are BBS

Sizes are mostly the same
concave and wheelbase

Question for the wood nerds. Hoping for some help.

I loved the girl 8.25 malto shape when he first went pro.

Looking at the girl shape guide ... I am confused if the exact shape still exists or not. And is the wood they were using back then the same as now? Some of them say "Maltos" shape, some say "based off his favorite shape"

I don't want the newer one with the bigger nose, was hoping for the older one if it still exists. is that the GO27?

Did some of my best skating (as an older dude) on this shape.

His graphic as the boxer was this shape, I think this KC one too.

Any help is appreciated!

What's the mellowest ~8.5" popsicle deck with a square nose?

I was told the Quasi I ordered, 8.5"*33" is what I'm looking for, but someone else recommended Violet.

I've been trying to find my Goldilocks shape and I think I've narrowed it down to these measurements maybe some one here can help me find it.

8.38-.44
mellow to medium concave
big and round nose and tail, maybe even twin nose also and especially no stubby or pointed tails
wheelbase needs to be 14.10-14.25 this has been the hardest to find
length 32-32.25
woodshop I prefer DSM or BBS but I'm open, no HLC
non-corny brand, with graphics I like, maybe dipped board

For some reason my friends board which is a 8.5 HLC has almost the right dimensions albeit too wide. And the woodshop sucks.

Closest I've gotten was one April board but the brand is kind mehh and also I think it could have lasted a bit longer. I like Palace boards but for some reason the 8.38 has wild dimensions for me.

If it helps I ride 5.6 hollow Ventures.

If anyone can point me to the right direction I'd appreciate so much thanks :)

The funny thing is that Palace board might be a winner if the V8 truck option was used, or drill out your own baseplates, so you can bring in that weirdly long wheelbase to a way more normal feel and give you the right size, length of kicks as well.

Other than that I was going to say Alien Workshop for the longer boards, shorter wheelbases, long kicks, but they might be a bit too full for you.  Also just looking now they don't have any 8.38 - only seem to have 8.25 and 8.5 so nothing really in between.  The 8.3 twin is longer in the wb and a bit weird, but it could work

Forgot to take a pic when new but trying something weird, and for the most part I quite like it.

Palace 8.375 (the dumb one with the absurdly long 14.81 wheelbase, 32 length, and tiny kicks)
Venture v8 5.8 with both trucks in v8 mode, makes the proportions actually quite reasonable
Spitfire f4 classic 99a 54mm
Quantum Isotopes
Pepper grip

Will rant about it in gear madness/venture thread later

The V8 baseplates bring it down by 5/8" in total, which is .625 so that makes it about 14.185 or so.

Drilling your own could make it a little more or less though.

@tzhangdox might have a bit more to say about it after skating it for a while.

Sorry to keep reposting all this, but it is just easier to have it all here now:

Posted a pic in the setup thread:

Last week I set up a Palace 8.3 with V8s, pretty random combo.

It’s the weird shape thats about 32 long with a 14.81 wheelbase and short, stubby kicks. Would feel ridiculous on most trucks but actually works well with V8s.

Rough math: V8s reduce wheelbase by about 0.6, so this setup rides more like a 32 board with a ~14.2 wheelbase on cast Ventures — an oddly hard combo to find.

Most 8.3-8.5 boards with a 14.2-14.25 wheelbase tend to be shorter than 32, and you usually have to go up to 14.38 to get more length.

Weirdly, this shape/truck combo is hard to replicate with normal Ventures and another board. Pop feels really nice—springy without being too light or too heavy. My issue with V8s on most boards is that they make the pop feel a bit weak, but that’s not a problem here.

It definitely feels smaller and more nimble than my usual setup on cast Ventures. Visually, the bolts being so far apart is a bit jarring. I often have my front foot over two of the four front bolts for certain tricks (noseslides, crooks, 180 nosegrinds), but on this setup, I have to remember to place my foot further back — otherwise theyre basically right over the front wheels.

The kicks still feel stubby when standing on them, but the pop is great because of the v8s, so it’s more of a difference in feel than function. I do have to pop more off the tip instead of keeping my back foot near the bolts like I would on many more normal setups.

Overall, it's a fun setup. Makes flatground easier and has a nice, snappy pop. Biggest downside is the super tapered kicks. Gotta be more precise on grinds/slides so my size 13 feet don’t drag. If the shape was just a bit fuller or widened to 8.5, it’d be even better.

And as a bbs loyalist, dwindle wood is actually pretty good

Yeah so I'm on my second palace 8.3 on v8s now. I think the wheelbase is 14.81, so that minus 2 x (5/16) makes it about equivalent to a 14.18-14.2 on normal ventures. While keeping the overall board 32 in length, kinda oddly hard to find.

In any case, still loving how it feels to pop and rotate on this thing.

However, the kicks are definitely stubby and tapered. Makes the overall board look smaller than many 8.25s.

I totally understand the desire to avoid HLC. In my experience, at least the European HLC boards are in general too heavy and thick. I don't know if their US wood is any different.

I really liked the HLC boards I rode from National Skateboard Co a few years ago. Yeah they were a little thicker than BBS but they were also more durable and retained lots of pop as they got older. They had a good mellow 8" I'd like to skate again.

I’ve skated a couple of those as well but with Ace 44 classics. Agreed with the stubby and tapered kicks, but I did really like the pop. You got me curious to try it with Venture V8s, but idk if I wanna switch up my setup again haha

Might be a long shot, but anyone know which woodshop Blem uses and dims for their decks? Based on photos, they look similar to FA/Hockey boards with the big noses and steep kicks. If the dims are the same, I might try Blem and save $15 lol

Another one I have never heard of before.

Pawnshop Skate Co is credited with starting the brand, from this Instagram post, so maybe contact them directly and ask.

I had a look over most of their social media and websites and couldn't find anything more.

From a few of the videos it looks much the same laser engraving (no warning sticker though) as either BBS or PS Stix for the Hockey / FA boards, so I would imagine that they would be in the similar grouping to those, similar shapes, same background too, maybe.

It would also be good to see what Pawnshop Skate Co use for their own boards too, as they look like the same shapes.

New ones they say are made in USA.
