He’s posted “developments” like that in his IG story before with previous variations, and their QC didn’t develop that great so....yeah. Hanger isn’t reworked to stop the bending. Back to inferior axle nuts...they take 2 steps forward and then 10 back.
New axle nuts are free my dude.
I keep two in my wallet all the time left over from these stupid little things.
Does the ace tool not have the regs size or something? Because that's the only reason I would think they'd go back to those. Sell tools
I dunno. I'm a layman but I find Thunder/ Indy grind better than Ace. Ace metal currently feels too soft and a more difficult to smash through curbs and pool coping. Ace definitely wear down quicker and I assume that is b/c of the shape of the metal and the "softness"...
I can see how one would make the argument that thunder is the happy medium between the two ace or ventures
One soft the other hard but I can go through two sets of thunders a year if I skate enough rough shit.
And I like thunders with like 50mm wheels.
The streets are fucked rn. No way am I going under 54 new
Indys grind everything. That's a fact and they last. That's never going to change I think. But I was over indy long long ago. That shit is not my thing. The image sucks.
I bought a set of 139s stage 11 when I came back to skating in 2016 because I was encouraged by a friend and I wanted a high truck for a change. It was an excellent truck. Used 149 stage 10 I got gifted it sucks. I'm holding them for a homie in New Hampshire.
The stage 7? 6 bolt plate was the last ok truck before stage 11 because is wasn't crazy low.
So you have a truck that breaks or wears out easily and a truck that's unattractive via marketing and 2 decades of fails.
Ace is a perfect truck for skating Boston.
It turns the balls so you won't get run over down town by a yuppie.
I know that this soft truck is not going to stick ever.
The shape similarity is sentimental to me. My first good truck in the 80s was a stage 2. Its pretty close to that just like 5 inches less wide.
I'm riding ventures rn because I believe they're made in sf. Sometimes people say it's a lie but it's worth it to me to buy American or at least try to buy American shit.
I give a Fuck about what is under my feet best reps my beliefs. I believe in American labor.
Also I believe from what I've seen over the last 2 months the venture might last longer than all these brands unless the base plates go.
I could see when I dismantled the truck upon purchase that there looks to be a flaw in the hanger design. I think busted base plate around the king pin will end the truck around 15 months without axles showing.
A krux/grind king curved plate shape might stop that. I think all trucks should adopt the rounded base plate
Long day long post.
