The pinch on smith's and crooked grinds are what drew me to these trucks. Ace trucks are so light and stable I'm hyped to have a pair.
[close]

ace isnt known to have the best pinch
in fact compared to thunder and venture its pretty ass
compared to indy its slightly worse
Of all that's been said about Ace, pinch I can't remember being mentioned once.
That being said, the pinch is different just like any other truck would differ.
Compared to Indy's, Ace do not pop you out of a trick like Indy's would (thinking crooked grinds).
That's a geometry factor which is why Ace also have such a responsive turn. It's a trade off.
Indy's have a stiffer response and are still great trucks.
Thunders have an even greater difference in geometry than the other two and are lower in height.

Gonna make the jump to Ace but can't decide if 33s or 44s are the way to go. Currently riding 148 Thunders on 8.25

How often do you switch board size. General consensus around here is 44 on 8.25

Usually stay on that size but would only go up if I switch do guess 44s are the way to go. Just not a fan of seeing anything poking out when I look down but hopefully won’t be a problem

Pulled the trigger and picked up some Ace 55s. Has anyone skated 55s on an 8.5? Was the board flip-able?

My ACE trucks are lighter than my titanium Indys

Ace 44s weigh even more than Indy 159 Ti (395g v.346g).

A light Ace with good pinch? Must have them confused with Thunders.

Ace heads that came from Indy. Anyone feel like their pop got messed up when making the switch? Was riding ace for a few months and found myself not making certain ledges that I used to make even though my deck was a lot lighter. Been screwing around on another setup with Indy standards and I could pop way higher much easier. Anyone run risers with their aces to make them Indy height?
[close]

Here's my experience, switching to Ace and Theeve after 16 years on Indy. I still have a 35" ollie, and  popping up and over high stuff has always sort of been my specialty. I was prepared to having to adjust, but I was scared about how it would affect my ollie. Much to my surprise, it didn't. I was on forged indy's for about a year before the switch, so the height difference wasn't too noticeable. I also happened to bump up in wheel size around that time, so it didn't really affect my timing. I've also heard people complain about a dead feeling pop, but to me it was an improvement over forged baseplates. I've sometimes wondered if I shouldn't ride such a short WB with the offset already being so tight on Ace, but I'm ok as long as the tail is short and somewhat steep.

tl;dr: no

My setup:
8.25 / 31" / 14.00WB, medium concave, short tail
Indy ti 144 ---> Ace 44 (and theeve 5.5)
52-54mm

Curious about the board as well

According to this blog, dated Nov 2020, the new Ace trucks will be called AF 1s and will be out in April 2021. They also say, the 'Classic' line will stay in production...

The question is who is going to DM Joey T, Shrewgy or Ace like a man??

Anyone have experience with the 00s? I found the element woody I bought when I was like 16 and I want to trick it out with aces and rat bones.

I have them on a little cruiser with some 60mm OJ hot juices and 1/4in risers. Also put coned bottom bushings in to make it super carvey and it's probably the most fun board I've ever pushed around on

Ace and thunder bottom bushings are the same height (14mm). Ace top bushings are 12mm. Thunders are 10mm. So, maybe a tad wonky??

I just use a set of ace low bushings in my thunders and they work wonderfully. Really good turn but reduced wheelbite and you can run both washers

Ace Classic Bushing Set
Top 12mm tall | 91a hardness
Bottom 14mm tall | 86a hardness

Ace Low Bushing Set
Top 10mm tall | 91a hardness
Bottom 12mm tall | 86a hardness

thunder top 10mm / bottom 14 mm correct? so you need ace lo top and ace classic bottom if that info is correct

Exactly. Makes Indy's turn almost as good as ACE. Never tried it with thunders, though.

Does anyone know what the expected changes for the new aces are? Heard something about changing axle widths or hollow king pins, is it all speculation right now?

wait... if they're keeping the classics and the rumor of the size shift is true, are they gonna have a separate size chart?
