Looks as if the Chinese tariffs are changing daily I wonder if Ace has noticed and/or will adjust their price?

Of course they've noticed. You think anyone making shit in China ISN'T paying attention?

A 'pre-order' is pretty telling, it's either a SW lack of confidence in consumer interest (be it for ACE trucks, IKP or just buyers not spending so they're not stuck with overstock) or supply chain issues, i.e., it's a limited run due to all the bullshit going on...it's also a product untested by consumers that has had setbacks, so who knows if they're  going to actually work or last (either spells returns and a loss for SW/retailers).

Also, it's been known/checked out ages ago:

as someone mentioned previously the price hikes are due to the R&D, mold costs etc. put into in. preorders were sent to shops ages ago and the approximate retail price for CAD shops are $125 a set, whereas regular AF1 go for $90

only in 44 and 55, they didnt make all sizes for some reasons but encouraging ppl to get the baseplate kits

pretty wild to expect ppl to pay this much for trucks honestly and wouldnt be surprise if they cost even more once landed due to everything

Thanks for confirming the Paris connection the search on here didn't bring it up immediately so it was more time effective to just ask especially since I don't remember shit like a Joey Tershay picture.

Considering most skate shops don't actually track inventory or buy in any detailed manner and lots of skate brands make consistent errors in design and quality I fully expect that they are likely not updating prices based on daily tariff fluctuations or probably even calculating how much they need to raise prices to compensate. I would see them just asking their friend that they think is good with math rather than a financial analyst since they probably don't even have one that has developed any sort of forecast-based business model. Lots of winging it.

The easiest PR campaign for a skate company would be to publicly say something like:

Tariffs are 130%. We're eating some of that cost and charging you 120%.

Several bike companies are doing it and the one a friend owns is still selling out of everything despite higher pre-order prices.

I smith and feeble alot and have tried inverted trucks before. It really isn't that bad grinding on standard kp nuts. No amount of smooth grinding will ever be worth knowing the possibility of the trucks rattling loose. I know some who have had good luck but having the possibility in the back of my mind is enough to fuck with me.

Lol $80+ for some ace's

Bout to be primarily seeing these on Andy Anderson flight decks
[close]

New rich guy meta: DBX deck, Ace Inverted, Bones Ceramic, Spitfire F4 93, NB 933's.

LOL
In Canada this will cost you :
$200 for the DBX Decks
~$125 for the Ace Trucks (Could be more even)
$80 for the wheels *(you can get ones that cost $83 like big beatdowns and OG CLassics lmao)
$125 for the bearings
$170 for the Reynolds Shoe
$20 for Shake Junt Grip (yezzir)
$16 for the Ace Hollow Hardware (gotta get that if we are going big)

sorry I'm not putting rails on this board

grand total : $736

which actually is probably less than a year of Hockey costs...??  ;D ;D

Trying to give the impression that they are assembled by some guy in his garage, and not... well whatever the factory is like.

They’re here:

They're not...until Summer ‘25 - still in pre-order phase for a June (21st so say SW) release.

That pic is a screen grab from a video that's 2mo old that probably noboday watched (well 3K people did) so you wouldn't know it (unless you watched it); I was refering to the way back info around when F1s were first dropping and the confirmation from back then.

That is Joey Tershay.

Joey has a few things on his resume, including working at Deluxe Distribution and also for Independent and designing some of their earlier trucks, as well as starting his own truck brand, this funny little company called Ace, along with his buddy Shrewgy.

Joey likes to tinker with stuff, so it makes sense that he would be the guy to have his pic on the ad.

Hope that helps.

Happy birthday to the guy with the biggest heart I know, Joey.tershay

This photo from 2007 is at the humble beginnings of @acetrucks Joey had been working on Ace for over a year when I drifted back into his daily life. He allowed me to be part of the company, fulfilling a self-prophecy I had made way back in our days together at Deluxe Distribution. I had always said my dream would be for one of the people I had helped in their skateboarding career to reach back and provide me with employment.

Today we honor Joey, long may he live!

I love you Joe

@Xen  I didn't realise this was the video from the link you posted until I went back to have a look.  I just saw it when I googled Joey Tershay, but the inside of skate distros are always interesting to me.

;DI love Ace but there is so much misinformation in that video starting with Joey T not knowing the width of 77s.... amazing...

And then Norman saying Indy were trash before Stage 8,9,10... Stage 9 were the Worst and came with terrible bushings...  Carry on...

I don't trust Norman's reviews/personal takes -  just watch some of his gear reviews.  Dude still ripping tho.

looks like Ace classics have been retooled. there's a little stepped lip with more precision to it in the pivot cavity. for a long time they were pretty wonky and pivot cups sat in there crooked. and the bottom of the baseplates have the Ace logo now, which looks cool.

Interesting. Glad classics are still a thing as I prefer them to AF1s... if only there was an 8.75" axle...

Thanks for the update @logjammin

i've really been debating getting some ace's for a minute now...

what's the difference between classic and af1?

also, i guess i should be getting the 33 if i skate 139 indy's currently?

Classics come in different sizes, have a SLIGHTLY shorter WB, and a softer alloy on the hanger that gives a softer/slower grind feel.

Some people much prefer that grind feel though. As will all things truck related it is totally personal preference.

I would argue that classics are a little less stable than af1 as well.

And yeah, 33s are the right size for you.

Personally I would suggest af1s since they're more durable than the classics.

Weirdly I have bent 2 AF1 hangers (one was pretty new, the other was at axle) and no Classic hangers and I've skated about the same amount of both versions.

I'd still highly recommend the AF1s though despite slightly preferring the Classic pop feel and turning geo.

yeah I noticed the other day my hollow 60 af1's are bent. no issues with bearings sliding on and off but it's definitely there.

side note, did some real truck madness testing on indy stage 4 baseplates, and confirmed ace classics/af1 hangers fit perfectly on em. they actually turn better than both Ace's on their own baseplates or stage 4's on their own as well. I think indy's pivot cups being such a hard durometer really increases the snappiness and return to center.

Just set up Af1 55's and rolled around my driveway, I'm scared to go to the skatepark as I now realize how tight of trucks I rode before. Wish me luck!

If these don't work, I'm just gonna stick to my old dear friend Thunder trucks

would changing the top bushing to a low on the af1s change the geo?

nah, only changing bottom bushing heights messes with the geometry. top bushing height don't matter.

Is it just a regular kingpin in the AF1 trucks?

Never heard that before, but "first time for everything" is not an uncommon concept when reading all the gear threads.

If it is an inverted option, especially DIY then I guess you are on your own, but if it is just their standard truck / baseplate with kingpin that has an issue, it might be covered under warranty.

Worth checking with them anyway, as they are usually pretty good with replacing things that break, or become defective.

Just a thought anyway.

Funny I just posted this in the Venture thread, but copied it to here as well:

Most truck brands will warranty most things on trucks, as long as the hanger is not down to axle.

Things covered include bent axles, axle slip, broken hanger or baseplate, even busted kingpins, from what I have seen of things.

Give them a go.
