I used to ride super tight trucks, got Ace AF1 when I got back into skating and was determined to ride and get used to loose trucks. Since then, I’ve also been riding Maglight ATG and Thunders but when I went back to my AF1, they felt tight in comparison. Just thought that was odd since Ace always has the reputation of being super loose trucks.

Risers, 4" hardware, too many to count threads, a nightmare.
But if it works for him.
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

not that he's exactly stacking clips anymore but I'd say the day gonz jumps ship for ace indy is cooked.

Gonz to ACE is a pretty wild take. Gonz back to Venture or even Thunder is much, much more likely.
I thought Stefan Janoski riding aces would be wilder until I saw clips of him skating a board w/ them recently. I could see gonz riding them b/c he goes back w/ Julien & Joey T - also could see him running whatever and getting me to buy it b/c he's still somehow marketable as hell.

Anyone else waiting for the AF1 inverted hollows to be released?
Yes. Any update on the exact release date besides just ‚summer‘ or ‚July‘?

Came across this animation of the details:

Switched from AF1 hollows to AF1 low hollows and it made so many things better instantly. Did it on a freshly set up deck with a shape I'm used to and ye olde 52mm F4 tablets. Sayonara ghost pop and got back a bunch of flip tricks. Felt less tippy which helped on ledges. No wheel bite issues. Manual sweet spot took some getting used to though. Probably the best gear based performance improvement I've had. Your mileage may vary but I'm hyped.

Has anyone gone from a forged Thunder 148 or wider truck (51mm) to Ace hollow low trucks (49mm)? How did wheel bite compare between the two?

I am thinking of trying Ace trucks but don't want to go any higher than 51mm tall so my only option would be the lows.

Thanks in advance!

How tight you have AF1 lows? I'm tempted to try them, had 03s back in the day but I remember having some wheelbite. I guess low hard bushings could solve it at least for most part.

Ace has the inverted kingpin trucks and baseplates up. $90 for trucks/$60 for just baseplates. Pretty insane prices but then again everything is getting ridiculous nowadays.

The link doesn't quite work for me. I get immediately re-directed to the Ace landing page. The inverteds are not yet listed on their product page.

Tried it, same issue. But I figured out it's a location thing. I'm in the EU and get re-directed to their EU-site 'Mesa Skate Supply EU'. Will have to wait some until they are available in Europe.

I have 'em between flush and 1 thread, like you can't see the thread but it's not flush. Stock bushings. Board and trucks are 8.25. When I get on someone else's board their trucks usually feel tight to me. When I got on the my old board to A/B it, the regular AF1s felt tall and tippy. Wild cause it's really not that much of a difference in height. Again, YMMV. That drink looks delicious.

seems like the inverted full sets or baseplates only both have the ace logo on the outer edge of the baseplate that faces the nose or tail...kinda makes em look blegh.

Thanks - I think I'll try them with hard bushings. Did read the Ace AF1 Low -thread yesterday, sounds like both wheelbite and kp clearance have been improved since 03s. Going to set up AF1 60 hollow hangers and ride 8.5ish board, interesting experiment if nothing else.

Ace trucks, various sizes and baseplate only option too, then add a hanger and bushings from the Chop shop if you want different sizes.

Anyone tempted to get the new IKP baseplates for their AF1s?

I have some relatively new Af1s so now would be the time to get them...

talk me out of it....

Forget all that, you can get slappy IKPs for $6 and make your own. Our very own @Gene_Harrogate made a real nice video walkthrough

Nice! I see they have hollow baseplates available now but still no hollow hangars. I'm in for some 55 or 60 hollows whenever they become available.

Set up the IKP baseplates last night. Quality looks amazing. I kept the top bushing which is a 94a Ace low but replaced the bottom with an Ace hard (also 94a) and mounted some hollow Af1 60s hangers. They are a  few grams lighter than regular AF1 hollows but nothing I'd probably notice when skateboarding.

Haven't skated them yet but there is a freaky amount of clearance...

The adapter tool works well (you get two) and the whole system seems really solid.

In theory these will last several hangers. So while expensive off the bat, you could just replace the hangers as you go, which could be especially nice if they start selling hollow axle hangers individually at some point.

Now to see how well they last and if they don't loosen up under abuse...

I'll post a pic later if anyone is curious.

Been really interested in these. How's the wheelbase effect? Same as normal AF1's?

Does anyone have any information about when the inverted aces and baseplates will come to europe?
