I made this cruiser board for my wife to ride.

The original deck was a Krooked 'el camino' shape which I cut down by about 2 inches, using the nose of a fresh deck with the same shape as a guide. Then I made the tail slightly shorter by about 3/16 of an inch, to take off the razor tail. I sanded all the edges and then moved the trucks about 1.5" back.

The original deck was 32.15 inches but the new shape is 30.

My wife painted the graphic on the bottom.

I had some indy 144s lying around from when I used to ride 8" decks so I put those and some new OJ 55mm super juice wheels on it. Super fun. I'll probably end up using it more than my wife but that's the way it goes...

What’s a decent enough way to finish off a cut down deck without having access to a belt sander? I cut off one deck with one of those electric handheld saws (dunno what it’s called in English) but it’s quite sloppy. There’s still a bunch of material to be taken off but I haven’t got access to every sort of a tool. My apartment complex has this woodworking room with all sorts of stuff but for sanding they only have a handheld battery powered off centered round sander (sorry, I dunno the name of that in English either). What sort of tools would be good for the job? Manual handheld or something powered?  :)

I round the rails by hand with a sanding block.
Rough out with 40/80/180 then finish with 320 with a scuff pad as a block. Start at the top sand to the center an equal number of times, flip, repeat and make sure you use cross strokes(ie X) and you’ll see when it’s time to start rolling the edges.

I have been thinking of taking some corners off square tails (and some noses) on boards, so this will help there too, in particular the Grosso 9.25 shape was on a crazy special recently so I picked up a few of them and was planning to make them a bit more "Huffer" shaped in the nose and tail.

More than anything, I have a lot of scraps of Mob and other grip which I am thinking should help in that regard too.

One guy I know has it down to a fine art, even using clear coat on the finished board to seal it when done and his boards turn out so well, you would not even know that he hand shaped them from other boards.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Thanks! I was thinking of maybe using a rasp or a file to get the biggest chunks on off. My sawing wasn’t exactly stellar. It was my first time cutting a board. Would you advise against that and just sand it by hand instead?

How about the round off center sander? Would it be a bad idea? I might also get access to a handheld belt sander if needed but that’s still quite uncertain.

Honestly couldn’t say about a rasp. No idea how close to where you want it it is. If they’re huge, probably. If it’s fairly close, probably not.
No idea what the sander you’re talking about is. I work with steel most of the time but do some woodworking for forms/bucks but basically all by hand(slower so more precise for me).

Epäkeskohiomakone toimii ihan hyvin tohon, vähän aikaa se saattaa viedä ja reunat kannattaa hioa pienes kulmas ettei lähe viilut irti mut täysin mahdollista, oon aikoinani itekin jonkun sheipin tollasella hionut. Alkuun vaan karkee paperi/hiomapala ja loppua kohden hienompaa, tyyliin p120.

Sorry guys about lil Finnish here but I found it easier to talk about tools in our native language ;D

Kiitos! Pitää ostaa vähän hiomapapereita ja ryhtyä hommiin. Eiköhän se siinä sitten selviä, mikä työkalu/työstötapa toimii parhaiten.  :)

what lacquer has the best slide for blank/sprayed boards?
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

.

Guessing it could be some sort of sticker, like a vinyl printed transfer or something.

Seeing him put clear coat over it makes me think it is something that could come off more easily, but I really don't know.

Some others I know who had a printshop / worked in a printing business had done special one off type graphics for wall hangers, but said they don't skate well at all.

Different thing to some of those other "printed direct to wood" type graphics that 2 Hex or similar were trying as well.

Idk who needs to where else to post this, or if somebody would need this info in the future. But I need to share this dude using a roarkit air press to add this walnut veneer to a blank deck.

Would be sick for other DIY decks or a cruiser
