Started the "Chernobyl" HBO Miniseries last night. It's astounding just how much the Russian government did not want to acknowledge the severe danger and just how much they couldn't have cared less about their own people.

That’s basically a horror series. Just full on constant dread.

Pretty much. The feeling of impending doom is so thick that I've caught myself holding my breath at certain points. Gonna finish it tonight.

in re Chernobyl, i think i saw this documentary on the construction of the current "sarcophagus" covering that whole toxic mess of a site/structure, on Netflix a while back, but either way here it is on Youtube...pretty fucking mindblowing really...

...it's so harrowing that this has been a site of fighting recently.

After being totally disappointed by "vigil" which I basically hate watched because each episode was end to end garbage I finally got around to watching trapped. Icelandic crime. Pretty good.

From what I remember in the movie its not a permanent fix either and has to be removed & reconstructed within the next 40 years for it to continue to have effective containment. Like you said, that would not be where I selected my real life multiplayer death match to be. You'd really gotta want to invade Ukraine to do all that. Wtf is this world

Has anyone watched The White Lotus on HBO Max?  I watched all six hours yesterday in one sitting and it was fucking amazing.  So many batshit ridiculous moments that had me dying laughing yet overall a dramatic story with absurd characters all around

Yeah man I loved White Lotus and Minx is okay. I also like My Brilliant Friend and I just started Tokyo Vice. Netflix is slipping those are all HBO eps but I did watch the new Jimmy Savile doc on Netflix and it’s haunting me, not in a good way. I didn’t know anything about the guy. Fuck that guy.

Was browsing HBO Max’s movie list… it has basically everything Netflix has minus the originals. Think once Ozark releases, I’m canceling Netflix. Had it since you could rent DVDs ha. That’s The way she goes..

I binged this show in one day when I was sick with Covid. On HBO Max. It can be a bit slow, but it kept me pretty intrigued. There’s a lot of great actors and acting.

Was Netflix ever really that good? I got it kinda late (maybe 2018) after years of everyone telling me I had to get it because of whatever shows or movies. After about two weeks I was pretty much over it. All their original content feels like they just said ok to whatever first draft the writers did. Pretty much every series feels like it should of just been a movie and almost every movie feels like it should of been a short or episode of an anthology style show.

When I first switched from mail to streaming in like 2009 or something it was chocked full of really great, innovative foreign horror and cult films.  Discovered so much great stuff around that time

Don't know if non Aus people can get it (I'm sure there's a work around) but SBS on demand is free and has tons of international movies and series. It does have ads tho.(altho often it seems to play without them) also tubi just put up a ton of new horror gems. (Altho they are more 80s 90s video store nostalgia fun because they're kinda bad types)

Honestly i just kept forgetting to cancel it (lazy).. they did have good series Bloodline, Godless, Ozark, but the wells run dry for sure.

2009-2015? Ish Netflix had all the top films/shows/docs it seemed like. Now it’s almost $20 a month. Much rather HBO max by a long shot..

I sat down to eat yesterday browsing Netflix and couldn’t find shit i haven’t already seen. Nothing interesting… just ended up putting on sopranos lol

I watch on PS4 and i cannot stand the previews that autoplay…

I’m glad they didn’t do that. The finale was so good. Fuck I hope it isn’t 2 years before next season. We’re gonna rewatch it with my daughter. One of the best shows of all time for us.

doesn't crunchyroll app have K-Drama and J-Drama for free with ads?  I only use it for the syndicated anime shows that are running in japan

I was pretty close to canceling netflix then I saw that Warhol Doc and changed my mind for another couple months at least.
The Doc is really good would recommend if into art.

all of us are dead is good if youre into korean zombie series.  not deep or anything but 12 hours of zombie carnage cant be bad.
watching the pacific rim anime now.  im a sucker for monsters.  raaaar.
norsemen is a good comedy.  unapologetically low brow but thats kinda what gives it its charm

I saw Cypress about 10 to 15 years ago at a time you could still smoke indoors at concerts and it was amazing.

Like they went all out to put on an amazing show. Totally exceeded my expectations because sometimes hip hop shows are lacking.

Sorry for hijacking. In regards to Netflix, it has the least amount of stuff I want to watch compared to other streaming services available in Aus.
Is it true?  Or did you read it on the slap message board?

The pentaverate. (Not saying it's great, just saying it doesn't suck)
Ok so at first I was like oh this sucks it's just Mike Myers doing all his usual Mike Myers stuff. But then it's like actually yeah why not. Compared to the utter garbage Adam Sandler and co have been making it's actually decent. I'm not dieing laughing or anything(it's not exactly my sense of humour, feels like it's aimed at people a probably in their 40s who grew up with 90s Mike Myers) but at least it's actually trying to make a decent amount of jokes. My usual criticism of Netflix applies tho every series should of just been half the amount of episodes or been a movie

I got sopranos vibes… i actually really liked it.

With other characters, I’ll come back so i won’t spoil it. Ruth has by far been my fav.
