its funny coming from a hobby like backpacking where it takes sometimes months to a full year to get gear you ordered. i have a box from FA thats been nearly a month since ordering and it hasnt phased me. not everything is amazon prime

Try ordering a custom bicycle frame.

HAHA. I want a custom road bike and I know if I order in 2023 I won't be getting it until 2024 😆

I had the bright idea of building 2 bikes in 2020. Still don't have all the part I wanted. I eventually caved and bought other shit just to ride them.

FWIW, I received a package today before I even got the tracking email. It's just that time of year where the carriers are craming as much through the system as possible.

I put down a deposit in 2013 for a frame which arrived in 2016 and whose fork subsequently broke.

Now that you can actually just buy a gravel bike off-the-shelf, if I had to do it again...

Can you explain the joke a little bit? Are they just really cheap/cost-effective bang for your buck bikes?

Cyclists often convince themselves that they're some kind of rare edge-case who needs special custom geometry or their use requirements for a frame are so unique that only a custom builder can make them one for $2500 and it's going to take three years. Kona is a beloved brand and they make great bikes for the money, and most riders would be fine just walking into a bike shop and buying a complete Kona, then making small changes to their bike as needed.

You could sub in some other brands like Marin, or even Trek or Specialized if you're not married to a smaller brand or a steel frame.

Spot on take! Konas are great, but I couldn't find the one I wanted at the start of the pandemic; thought about building something using a bianchi frame as a base...too much work, ended up going with a Black Label v2 from State because I'm not that core of a cyclist (ride it to the spot, the gym or coastal rides).

Has anyone bought from Brooklyn Projects online before? I ordered from them a week ago and haven't heard anything...they seem to have a good reputation but wanna know what experiences you all have had?

I sent them an email after a week of no tracking number and they informed me the NBs I ordered were out of stock. Might be worth dropping them a line @MetalAnkleMan

Damn, did they at least refund your money quickly? I sent an email yesterday as well, waiting on a response. Ordered the black/grey 1010s  — hoping they aren't actually out of stock! (also how do you get charged for something that is out of stock and hear nothing for 8+ days? I assume they have some form of inventory management..)

so turns out mine were sold out as well, but they were quick to respond to my email at least and shipped out a replacement pair of 1010s (diff colorway) same day. feeling relieved! if anyone is still waiting maybe try shooting them an email as well.

Primitive is doing their mystery decks sale again. 2 for $70, 3 for $90
I ordered a few decks individually and it appears to be a mixture of China and BBS decks. Hopefully the mystery decks are not all China made. Ordered a mystery pack on the 19th that hasn't shipped yet, and it sounds like they are massively backed up like the FA sale.

Element's black friday is 30% of site wide.
[close]

Element does the same price manipulation of their sale items. All the $35 decks become $55 for the sale. You can at least stack a 20% off coupon during their sales. Just create an account for the 20% off, or use existing one and leave items in cart for a day and they will email you one.
[close]
It doesn't stack on the rails which come out to $130-140 after shipping. The round one was $100 on Amazon through Tilly's, so I checked out their site. You can get the flat bar for ~$65 shipped, which is half the price of getting one through Element:
https://www.tillys.com/product/element-drop-spot-flat-bar/266117100.html?dwvar_266117100_color=100

I missed out on the black Friday sale but decided to treat myself with the money I saved not smoking anything this past week.

Code "gifting" saved me $15 and I got it shipped for about $88
Excited to have a flat bar in my car ready to enhance my flat ground sessions

Edit: yes I know it’s zumiez. When I googled what I was looking for they came up with the best price.

Zumiez sucks but the reality is they keep most skate companies afloat with their stock ordering.
