It's the authentic old hole pattern and yes independent is the only truck brand to make it still. They make all their reissues with the original hole pattern if I'm not mistaken.

There’s a few that make trucks with the old skool pattern besides Indy: Tracker, Gullwing, a bunch of longboard companies’ tkp offerings.

Before you make another potential mistake, be advised that only Indys with cast baseplates on 159 and up have the 6 hole pattern that will fit on old school drilled holes

Gotta post my updated collection here:

- used BlackLabel 10' Lance GuestModel
- Dogtown Ben Schroeder Reissue (my cruiser setup, Indy 215, Powell Bombers)
- Blast Jake Snelling 10 (main setup, Ace 66 classics, September Wheels)
- Frog Milic Board (my street setup, Indy 169, Jivaro Wheels)
- Heroin Mutant Board (my Vert setup, Ace 66 classic, OJ Elites 55)
- my old Scram 10'
- my first Snelling Board that lasted my almost 2 months
- one of many fixer Pig Tanks that I have skated, unfortunately they dont make that shape anymore

- one of my most valuable posessions, my original BAKU board
- my 9 inch popsicle that I kept cause of the gripjob
- my death 9.75
- a new Fixer Pig Tank spraypainted by them (new shape, new wood)
- an old mutant board that I spraypainted black cause I was over the green
- an original Gator board with trackers that I found in a barn

 ---- NEW BOARDS ----

- 2 of the new Fixer pig tanks that they spraypaint themselves on a new mold
- a Dave Allen Death 9.75
- 3 Scram 10'
- 3 Blast Snelling boards that come in paperbags, which I dont want to open before skating them
- 2 Heroin mutant shapes (I wish they brought back the first mutant graphic)
[close]

Heilige Scheisse
[close]
Top picture 3rd one from the right looks so good. I would love to skate that setup
[close]

You mean the Scram Bomber? It's a very good board, but out of all the boards I currently have I prefer either the Blast Snelling board or the mutant. Those two shapes are literally perfect!
Oh shit I meant third from the left.. The Blast Snelling, that is incredible.

all things i definitely should’ve considered before purchasing haha.

so ended up mounting the trucks that could fit through them, drilled the holes and had to do it on the risers too (using the real 3ply) and finally was able to put it together.

that being said

Powell Bucky reissue 9.82
Ace AF1 66
Acid Tide Pods 55/86a
Bones Super Reds
Real 3Ply Wood Risers

i also do have some 60mm/99a Afterburners i’m gonna swap here n there but i’m finally glad this is all set up now.

Nice looking set-up! Redrilling the holes is by far the easiest fix

The good thing with that is you can work out your best truck placement, so as per the back done in the normal location, you can redrill the front (extend the wheelbase) by using the far front bolts as shown.

Was that one double drilled in the front as well?  Means you could extend it another 3/8" as what it was at 13.75 or 14.5 could go out as far as 14.875 or 14 and 7/8" in total, which sounds good to me but might have been too long for you.

I recall looking at the shape and thinking it was all a bit short for me, but others would like it.

Finally I had time to set this beauty up.

-Krooked Chico El Guest Board 9"
- Indy 159
- 99a wheels I'm trying to run down as much as possible
- Wald TORX Bolts.

My Steve Olson I got on the streets of New York City for $10 used to have 215s and narrower wheels but it was a little sluggish,I don't know what these are, either 149 or 159 but it's surfier now

I'm planning to buy the Ray Barbee Clouds Krooked which is 9.5" and I'm not sure which size trucks match it with.  I want to ride Indys and at that width it would indicate a 169 but would it be best to got with 159 or even 149 and use wide wheels?  If so, does anyone have any soft (not cruiser) wheel recommendations with a wide riding patch?

I just got one recently and am torn whether to use 159s or 149s. It measures at about 8.5" over the back trucks so 169s would probably be too much hot rod. I'll probably go with 159s since that was my original plan. My idea is to make a Neil Blender type set up so I'm trying to keep it close to a Six Track width. The taper from the front trucks to the back is really aggressive and then the tail fishes back out to about 9".

149s and F4 54mm 97a Conical Fulls would probably work just as well as those have a very wide contact patch.

ran this shape with venture 5.6 and 53mm conical fulls. 5.8s would have been the perfect fit but didnt have them at the time, too much magic carpet at the front with 8.25 axles
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

ok, gotcha.  I think i'll go with 149s as I'd prefer to go slightly under width than over + i'll be using it mostly for carving pools so need a tight turn.

Feel like every week I’m in a board crisis.
Fooling myself that trying a smaller board somehow I’ll have more tricks. Just get frustrated and go back to what feels good.
This barbee is pretty fun.
Krooked barbee
Indy 159 hollow with mid base plates
Dlx tackle green 94a bushings
Spitfire f4 classic og 55mm 99a
Bones swiss
Bender Allen
Jessup
Dngr rails made from recycled snowboard sidewalls
Dunks

have you got a top shot and how do those trucks feel?

Was listing some stuff on eBay and took this out for a photo for @Freelancevagrant

Signed by TA himself. Told me a cool story about a break down in South county that people like to surf off emerald street and that's why he chose that emerald green for the board

shape looks fun but man i wish Scram would stick to their more minimalist graphics.
but i also wish they would bring back their non minimalist top graphics. i like full color top graphics.
i liked the new Gnarcel graphic.

@nekro I had this setup earlier this year, barbee clouds on Indy 159s with spit conical full 56s. Honestly felt great, I at some point switched the trucks to ace classic 55s and didn’t feel hot rod-y.

Hope that helps

I feel like my cruisers and shaped boards I have set up skate better with wider trucks, but that is just me.

Sure the wheels stick out a bit, mainly more so at the back with the fish shaped cutout, but as the tail and shoulder of the deck are wider, they are proportionate.

Same as we skated back in the 80s, the back trucks always looked too wide and the front trucks always looked too narrow, while still being the same size set of trucks, but with trucks that were too narrow, the whole setup felt way less stable.

Personal preference does have a lot to do with it, but I have 159s on that size board and they skate really well.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I am pretty regimented and have a strict workout routine. Lost over 20lbs since June. Coming up on my 48th. Thankful I can still roll.
