I have an old pair of Half Cab Pro 's, I think the last ones before they changed them to the Skate Half Cabs.
On my old pair I needed to size down from 10.5 to 10.
Are the new ones identical in sizing or are they tts now ?
Thanks !

From trying on quite a few options in the Skate range (but not actually skating or wearing any for more than a minute), they definitely are more snug and don't stretch (blow out) like the old Pro shoes did within the first minute or so.

That said, some people have had to go up half a size from their other usual shoes, some say true to size is good.

Others can definitely give their own experiences too, but unless you like snug to tight shoes, I would be going up a half size from regular more than anything, so the opposite of the old Pro versions, which felt so soft and stretched out so much.

I think there were two threads running with a lot more information on them.

New Vans models

In my experience, the skate Authentics and Sk8-hi's are TTS, but the Skate Slip-ons run super snug. I think other people have had similar experiences. Not sure if it's the new insole or if they made it much lower volume, but I had to swap insoles because they were super painful against the top of my foot after an hour or two and never really broke in.
[close]
yeah i had the exact same experience with my skate slip ons. luckily i didn’t plan on actually skating mine so the insole swap isn’t a big deal and does fuck with my head. also i’ve never had to change my vans sizing so far. always been 10.5 tts
[close]
I've roughly measured the space between the popcush and the top of the skate slip ons with my index and thumb and the thinness of what they expect your feet to be to comfortably wear these shoes is ridiculous. They definitely alienated a big chunk of people who loved the previouse slip on pros. I wear mine with converse insoles and they feel good enough but I would have preferred a slip on with the popcush that actually fit most human feet well.

I heard that the emerica wino g6 slips are pretty forgiving but they look pretty wide brand new and slip ons that get too wide and loose with wear also annoys me.
[close]
that’s funny! i probably have the exact same insoles you do in my slip ons at the moment. And i totally feel you on the wide slip ons. The only other slip ons i remotely like are janoski slips and those are torture for the first like week lmao. haven’t tried the Verona yet out of fear. Converse slips sucked when i had em. went tts and half size down, both of which bagged out super fast. Not interested in Emerica so i guess i’ll just stick with vans skate and swap insoles. :/
Those broken in were perfect for me fit wise. I just wished the insoles were a bit more substantial but that would fuck with the fit.  I think I just don't have the feet for most slip ons. I am interested in trying the cupsole emerica ones if I ever see them on deep sale. If they bag out, at least they look comfortable.

oh you did it like a pro

some debris inside maybe
i already experienced a weird sound right after mounting while everything looked right and it went away after a few hours

Good to hear, maybe it’ll work itself out. A few hours of skating shouldn’t take too long. Thanks

They definitely look like a 7 or 8, as per other replies.

Stage 7 didn't have a cross on the front of the baseplate at first though.  Stage 8 did.  Is that a really light outline of a cross on the baseplate?

Also those stages were all in "6" ending, not "9" ending, eg 126, 136, 146 so that fits the size too.

This helps:

STAGE  7 - 1993

6 HOLES: Implemented new hole pattern on base plate to reduce wear on bolts from nose and tail slides. Holes were set back on the baseplate, closer to the center of the board.

Thicker, sturdier pivot housing and reduced material on top of hanger to achieve a lighter weight

Introduced the 136mm truck February 1993

STAGE  8 - 1997

6 HOLES mounting base plate with cross logo added.

What makes a bearing make that creaky, “zipper “ sound? I have a brand new set of bearings that are doing it right from the start. Is it the retainer or something else? I hate it.
[close]

Usually not enough lube, but that sound seems to only occur after a lot of solid / heavy landings in most bearings I deal with especially people who ride raw or bearings with no shields.

What brand or make are they?
[close]

They’re Cheap Shots ( haha) but I’ve never had a problem with them before. These are brand new like straight out of the pack and on a cruiser setup with OJ Keyframes.

Is it all of them or just some, even just one or two?

That sort of thing bugs me when I set up brand new stuff, especially in the shop when it is for someone else.

I might be over thinking but I would be taking them off and checking the finger spin of each to see if there was something in one or more, but defects do happen with even the most seemingly consistent products.

As said by others, maybe just skate them for a decent roll around and see if it changes anything first.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

But we are all here to help each other, so it is not a worry in that regard.

I am glad people have corrected some of the things I had said in the past - especially if it is something more important than just how you like your own skateboard to feel, so no ego, no issue, all good there.

I never want to sound like a pain in the ass either, so I am sorry if "Mr Know-it-all" comes out now and then.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Someone created a new topic and messed up spelling “Gino Off Chocolate”. They wrote “Gino Of Chocolate”. It’s stuck around ever since. That’s pretty much it

What was the Adidas shoe that was a mid-top with a strap that people were skating in the mid 2000’s before the launch of Adidas Skateboarding? Was it the Pro-Shell? Pics of the last release of that shoe don’t look to be the same

As seen 2:37-2:47

i'm not sure but that white stripe on the collar makes me think that they're some kind of top tens. i initially thought roster mid but they're definitely not those. maybe it's the superskate? there were some colorways of these with straps, they were a mid top cupsole, but i've never seen any with that stripe on the collar, that thing is for sure giving top ten vibes.

I’ve done it a few times. Once I had no issues but the other one I might’ve gripped the board too soon (before the paint was fully dried) as the grip kinda didn’t stick properly. Might depend on the paint also.

Just checked out the other ones in that series... sadly this is the only one that comes close to as "good": https://www.theshredquarters.com/jason-park-lobotomy-deck/

Honorable mention to this one as well: https://www.theshredquarters.com/lunchtime-deck/

I'm imagining the final hammer of a Zero part in slow motion... GX 4:3... skater rolls up to some giant stair... pops a trick, and as the board begins to spin, its revealed that they are skating this lunchtime Revive deck instead.
