Is skating Ventures just accepting you’ll have to tick tack regardless of how loose they are?

Does anyone know for certain what baseplates can be set up with 7/8 hardware and what ones need 1”? I noticed Indy and thunder cast need at least 1” hardware

I use 7/8th Shorty's or bender on thunder cast plates with no issues

Anyone know of any online shops that offer paypal or Klarna pay-in-4? Pretty hard up financially right now , but needing gear, specifically shoes and wheels
skate warehouse works with Afterpay

I use 7/8 exclusively with both especially if it's Shorty's

SW does Klarna too under Popular Payment Methods. I checked out using Klarna because I was too lazy to enter in my credit card details.

I run 7/8" Diamond bolts on cast Ventures and they're flush with the nuts.

I saw a post on reddit recent;y, dude got indy 7/8 hardware that didn't fit his board. They were 2ish or so threads shorter than his old hardware 7/8 hardware

so apparently not all hardware measurements are the same. Have fun with that knowledge.

@Mbrimson88 I needed all that info thank you. ;D

never thought to use short nuts. i worked at a hardware store for like 4 years even lmao

i have boatloads of 7/8 hardware that doesnt fit my indy or thunder cast... i never considered boards could be different thicknesses either

I used to drill my stuff WAY in when I was first learning how to set my board up. but then I forget who it was, i saw some pro's set up in real life and their bolts were sticking out on a brand new board. so then I started doing that and I noticed I was getting less pressure cracks. there is a sweet spot for me.

I think I will just use 1" for cast as a good rule of thumb.

I noticed also some hardware is threaded all the way up (i believe shortys IS and Indy ISNT) which can be annoying if you are trying to set up a long hardware with too small risers lol (WAYYY overestimated the size i needed and got 1.5" bolts. whoops)

Anyone ever skate Modus Ceramics? I impulsively bought a set after having some beers for the Eagles game, and wonder how they are? Been having some slight bearing madness. Also bought pants and a hat.

I had and mini logo deck, 1" hardware and an indy. Mini logo was a thick deck and I think I still could use 7/8.

edit:

edit: it was regular indy.

how far did you drill it in though?? I mean I could get it to "work" with my thunders... but it wasnt good. I am not a big fan of really drilling them, so i probably just stay at 1" for cast as a good rule of thumb

I just made a hole in the griptape with a knife to fit the screw and used a regular skate tool. The reason I cut the griptape wasn’t because the screw length was insufficient, but because I didn’t want it to stick out through the griptape. By the way, I wasn’t sure either, so I went with 1" screws. I’m not here to advocate for 7/8" screws, lol, and I agree—it’s better to play it safe and go with 1".

@dstrytruitt thanks.

edit: flatter concave of ML might help with that also.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with the people who buy this old stuff?

I got piles of these naturally distressed clothes. I heard that people buy these and flip um for thousands.
I would love to see my stuff end up on the rich. That would be hilarious.

I used to believe I’m these clothes was lucky lol.

Probably a kook question but does anyone else wear a lot of skate clothing?

A lot of the clothes I wear now are skate brands and sometimes I feel a bit ridiculous but the way I look at is even though I’m still pretty new to skating I’d rather support a brand (or hobby I guess) and buy their clothes than buy some shit at target or any lame retail store. Plus the days of core skate shoes are pretty much over so you can at least support the brands by buying their clothing.

Not at all a kook question, but quite simply, clothing in general is where shops make their margins, or at least clothing and soft goods have a way better markup than skate hardgoods, so by buying skate clothing, you are usually (not always, I know) supporting the skate brand and the shop you get them from.

As to affordability, if you can afford it, why not?  For a lot of people, myself included, growing up I couldn't afford a lot of things, so I spent the little money I had on skate hardgoods more than soft goods, so the department store plain stuff was fine.  When travelling around as an adult, I would usually buy a tshirt or something small from all the skate shops I went into so I almost over loaded my wardrobe with tshirts, as well as other things too, because I was stoked to buy some rad looking stuff and support those skate shops in that way.  I could wear the skate brand tees to work too, so that was a plus.

Some people I know will often be very quick to call out others if they "look the part" but don't act the part, or if they aren't as good a skater as they might deem should be wearing a full brand outfit, but I really think that is just them being bitter, which doesn't really reflect well on skateboarders as a whole, but so be it.

If you can afford those things, as well as being stoked on them, you go for it.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I'm 39, wear loose fit (but not super baggy) jeans, sometimes skate stuff, and generally whatever I like. I work in an industry where people can wear casual clothing and generally have 1 of 4 different outfits/personas. I really don't give a shit what they actually think, but I do get a lot of compliments from people about what I wear. I had on some loose fit Wrangler woodland camo cargos one day and this woman came up and started chatting me up because "my dad used to wear those out hunting in Montana". I'd rather people talk to me about that than wear 511s and get approached about my crypto strategy or some shit.

Also now that I'm an adult and have money I'd rather some of that make it into the pockets of those who don't make a whole lot to keep the hobby I've loved the longest in life afloat.

Yea that’s the part where I’ll feel a little ridiculous wearing a dime jacket and maybe some polar pants. But yea I have those clothes because I think dime is awesome and I love polars whole style and especially their team. I honestly can’t really afford it but I absolutely hate cheap poorly made clothing and I’m finding these skate brands are pretty great quality.

i dont really dress that crazy cause my wife will be like  >:(
she really did not like the brown pants era!
but I really like people like ben kadow or gonogold who dress really different.

there are certain things I have to get

my friend has a zine called Word Zine and he releases clothes to help fund the zine so I always buy them (and i think they are rad - give him a follow @word_zine on instagram!)

I got a Venture AWAKE shirt when i went to Tampa because I needed that shirt since I saw Jason Lee wearing in video days (when i was a kid i was like WTF is AWAKE? for like yeaaaaars. also had no clue what that shirt was with the giant american flag #1 and i believe that ended up being a spitfire shirt? that would be a cool oen to have, appears in a lot of old videos)

I cant spend too mcuh money on stuff either so I cant really buy too much at the end of the day. I actaully made my own spitfire shirt, i bought fabric markers and i just drew the spitfire logo on, its really easy. I traced the outline of the flame from the wheel pack originally but its not that hard to just do freehand (ended up actually looking better)
people were all asking me "where did you get that spitfire shirt?!?!" lol, a lot of people thought it was a Frog collab  ;D

Wear whatever you want. I'm wearing a gx1000 bomb hills hoodie, big boys, SB dunks, and a skate pal cap. Who cares. I wear this stuff to work and I work in science (hence can afford it lol).
I'd much rather support brands that put out videos I love than some bullshit mainstream/high street shit. Plus there is way more money in soft goods for both your local and the brands stuff your buying than hard goods (I support them that way also).
Just gotta burn threw my dunks so can support Last Resort..

There’s a pretty comprehensive list floating around Shoes and Gear somewhere.  I can usually find it through search with some effort.  Don’t have time to find it this moment though

anyone ever skate a poolroom deck? I heard they’re clutch wood. never had experience with that woodshop (as far as I know)
This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.

Here it is, thanks to Mbrimson88 as usual:

Updated a few options on bushings after the Ace Truck thread and thought I should measure some more I have here too.

From the site, the Ace low are lower in general but still fairly tall.

Low Bushing Set

Top 10mm tall | 91a hardness
Bottom 12mm tall | 86a hardness

Classic Bushing Set

Top 12mm tall | 91a hardness
Bottom 14mm tall | 86a hardness

As I had posted earlier in another thread, but this time using Ace aftermarket measurements:

Ace low
Total  22 mm
Top  10 mm
Bottom  12 mm

Ace classic
Total  26 mm
Top  12 mm
Bottom  14 mm

Venture stock 94a
Total  22.5 mm
Top  9.5 mm
Bottom  13 mm

Thunder stock 90a and aftermarket (same) 90a, 94a, 95a, 98a, 100a
Total  23.5 mm
Top  9.5 mm
Bottom  14 mm

Indy stock 90a and aftermarket (same in both cylinder and conical) 78a, 88a, 90a, 92a, 94a, 96a
Total  23.5 mm
Top  10.5 mm
Bottom  13 mm

Then Indy low head bushings 92a
Total  21 mm
Top  8 mm
Bottom  13 mm

* Added Venture in here as well.

I was even going to say just check the last page as it has been compiled there in a few posts at the top of the page too.

Could add a few more into that, but I think that is the main list anyway, or the most popular trucks.

Was thinking of trading some gently used Indy's for some decks upon this idea I was looking to identifying their sizes. So I have a few with roman numerals (IIII IV III) I get the newer ones have 139 144 149 159 etc... but what about the roman numerals can someone explain?

im guessing the decks with the roman numerals are REAL, Anti Hero, or Krooked boards
It just tells you what position they are in the press. I feel like I always get this wrong but I believe the number 1 in the press is the steepest and the 5 is the flattest cause its at the bottom and the weight flattens it out? or its the other way around. no other brand does this numbering system as far as I know.

the 139,144, 149 etc for Indy is actually the Hangar Size in millimeters. so you have Indy 149 is 5.8" hangar, axles are about 1.35" each, which leaves you somewhere close to 8.5" which is the deck that lines up perfectly with this truck. Lurpiv does this too but thier hangars are slightly bigger (140, 145, 150 etc)

Thank you for that informative explanation but I was just referring to Indy trucks identifying, maybe my explanation was lost somehow. They've got roman numerals on the inside of the hanger no other identifying markers.
