Any recommendations for shoes that feel like the NB 306 but actually have a sole that doesn’t vanish after a month of skating?

Life's too short to combine rain and skateboarding. I mean, why should I have a lousy-ass time and ruin my gear? A definite no-no.

Same here. Too old to be begging for skateboarding. Totally acceptable if you're under 30
Sir, I'm going to politely, but firmly, ask you and your common sense to leave this establishment.

lol it doesnt cost that much to skate, and i imagine he is pretty deep in the game he can probably get crail boards and sole tech shoes for the next 30 years without leaving his willage

I recently set up a rain board. Old deck that I re-gripped with Pepper, ancient Thunders, old Mini logo cruiser wheels and some old bearings. I've skated it I think 4 times now. Before the 3rd time I had to hit the bearings with WW40. I'm not trying to get tricks or anything but the weather has been so shitty here that it's just nice to get on a board. It looks like 5 days of wet weather coming up so I'll probably take it out again sometime soon.

He's on Revive, Andrew Schrock's company. Hard to imagine a better fit, maybe Erased?

edit: Wait Erased is clothes only, then there  is no other option..

Not unless you offset the warp and bend it the other way.

I've been wanting to try a Sk8Mafia deck for a while, I like the company, the team, and I've never tried an HLC deck.
The Micro 3 video reminded me and it's almost time to pick up a new deck, so I'm gonna get one.

There's a TJ Rogers pro model I'm looking at and it comes in two versions.
Identical graphic, dimensions, and price.
One is a normal deck, and the other is "impact light", which has carbon fiber incorporated into the construction.
I've tried VX decks and Girl "pop secret" decks before and liked them quite a bit, so I'm not above a gimmick, but it throws me off that the regular deck and Impact Light deck are the same price.

Has anyone tried one of these? Can't find much in the way of descriptions or reviews anywhere.

Does anyone find there to be a night and day improvement with Riptide pivot cups? If so, with what trucks?

In stage 11s they make the truck feel a lot surfier. No difference in AF1s for me

Umm, HLC doesn't make carbon fiber decks that I know of. Watch out with Mafia tho. The TJ Rogers shape they do now has a 13.8WB and tiny kicks. HLC does 3 8.25 shapes and Mafia uses 2. One has insanely tiny kicks and is like 31.4. The other has more normal kicks and is 31.8. Those are really mellow.

The impact decks are more expensive direct from HLC, 85e vs 75e for the 7ply maple ones...

There's some reviews here https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=107411.msg

Could be wrong but HLC themselves haven't done Impact decks before, DSM (Enjoi, Blind, Darkstar, Almost) did them exclusively, so maybe HLC outsourced a run to the DSM factories in China for 1 run, or they've bought the patent from DSM to use in their presses.

If they're from DSM they will last forever and wear down at the speed of regular 7-ply maple deck. VX and Flight decks razor tail much faster in my experience. The downside with DSM decks and amplified with the carbon fiber layer of the Impact deck is they are painfully stiff for the first few sessions. Almost zero flex, but 2-3 sessions in it starts feeling like a fresh 7-ply deck.

I've been eyeing the Brandon Turner 8.5 twin for a while too, keen to try a HLC again.

I agree with the other poster who said they made Stage IV trucks "surfier". You can feel the difference, but whether or not it's an improvement is up to you to decide; I wasn't convinced.

I'm not sure that a polyurethane cup is inherently superior to the thermoplastic cups that come in most trucks.

I didn't like Riptides. They did make the truck feel smoother/looser but with less snap back to center. They were neat in Ventures but wouldn't buy again, gave away my Indy set.

I like them. I've used them in Indys and Thunders. They're smoother and just sort of feel better. It's hard to describe but it's very noticeable to me. I wouldn't call it night and day but I like them enough that if they broke, I'd buy another set.

I've seen a lot more people on flow programs skating non-skate models of shoes, AF1s and Adidas Forum 84s in particular, are people on flow programs allowed to ask for non-skate models? I know on main programs they are allowed to, I just don't understand how or if that works on flow. I could rationalize that they are purchasing the shoes themselves while still repping the brands they are flowed by, but maybe someone has some more insight into this.

Yes. You can firecracker a curb as well. Tom Knox does it and it infuriates Joa Fields. Tom should do it more

Honestly the casual Sinophobia on display everywhere in the “west” is crazy. Do people really think that the Chinese cannot operate a forge?

I know this is hardly the thread for this conversation, but as far as American “reindustrialization” goes, well there’s no history of a country rebuilding their industrial capacity like this, but we know what the process of industrialization looks like and it has never been pretty. I think a lot of people feel we can flip a switch and turn Flint, Michigan back on.
