Anybody skate an FA/Hockey 8.5" with either 44s or 55s and have pics? I just ordered one for the firs time and want to get an idea of how it'll look with either.

I dont think the brand deck will matter. 44's on an 8.5 are perfect. The axles will only have a 1/16" Gap before the edge of the board. 55's would be like clown shoes.

Yeah, I've had a bunch of 8.5" boards and I've ran them with both. FA/Hockey does a fuller shape than what I usually do so I want to see how they look.

what is the pop feel for steep kicks with 44s? hated 55s with medium/mellow kicks, but have a feeling that they shine with steep kicks.
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

44s and steep kicks feel quite good, mentioned upthread awhile back about how it's become my preference recently to the point where the madness has abated.  (I go for DLX 8.25 x 32 and 8.4 x 32 shapes, "I" on the top ply.)

Aces have an easy feeling pop on pretty much every board, but put them on a steep tail and they feel springy and floaty without feeling too "light," per se.  I found that you get a decent pop from pretty much anywhere on the tail with them, and that made something click with me so that my flatground game has become more consistent.  Now I'm feeling up to learning some meat and potatoes tricks I've never been able to get down (tre flips, big spin flips, fs flips especially) because the steep tail/44 combo responds pretty predictably to my foot placement and that makes the board feel easier to control.

Those setups even seem less tiring to skate than the ones on Ventures, since sessions seem to go a little longer before my legs turn to jelly.  I can say for sure they feel lighter than some Indies with forged hollow plates and 149 standard hangers felt (frankentrucks, waiting on NHS warranty), even though they are quite a bit heavier.  Hard to describe, but the bottom line is it's super satisfying and I don't even want to ride anything else for the time being, or probably even ride Indies ever again.

I ride DLX 99% of the time, and I dont find them steep.

Try a DSM board. I get 37 degrees of leverage with Thunders! Compared to 35 with DLX. Those 2 degrees is alot actually. DLX with Ace must be like... 33 degrees of leverage, which is... Very mellow.

Paul Schmitt (PS Stix) has said most pro's ride 35-37.

Guess that's another way of answering the question.

EDIT: now retching while imagining buying a DSM board.

I'm curious to try a pair of ace 44s. My current and next 2 decks are 8.38 with 14.5 wheelbase. I thought 14.5 with Indy's was my Goldilocks zone but it feels like too much. I like it for about half the session by the end I'm exhausted and the next day I feel like I was in a fight. I'm curious about ace for the shorter wheelbase and the pop feel. My concern is with the turning. Im around 200 pounds and like my trucks stiff feeling with some turn. I usually put hard bushings in my Indy's. Am I going to hate the surfy feel of aces?

FWIW I'm 6'3" and 190 and Aces feel more stable to me than Indy. I was going back and forth between 149s with Indy medium-hard bushings and stock 44s, and the latter are much less tippy.

After trying different bushinh combinations I came to the conclusion that stock bushings are the most stable on aces out of anyother bushings

Damn. I think xen/BMC would be the folks to pm. I don’t remember any others who got em. I don’t remember there being a hi/lo offering, I’m just assuming, based off of nothing, that there was only highs in the mag plates. I for sure want some. I’m not hard on stuff, slightly lighter 44s and up would be hot

Never had the lows, but afaik it is only the kingpin and bushings that are shorter.

Yes they made lo mag plates.

I still have my high mag plates, I should set them up (they're setup for krux pins).

This is Slap. Of course we can tell the difference from a photo - someone will probably count the threads on the kingpin.

No idea if they were ALL this way, but the initial run of the LOW mag plates had blk kingpins (just like the silver 03 and 02 trucks with regular plates) so you could tell at a glance which were lo or hi

I know the new stage is already delayed, but these new colors make me think they're going to push it back even further.

Been skating an 8.5" popsicle with 55s, no washers inside, and 52mm conical fulls. Just tried it with 44s and extra washers and they just looked so small.

How it skate tho? I love the way a bigger board fees under feet, not psyched on losing what little I have in the flat ground trick department. Haven’t skated 55s, look sick, I’m sure they are real fun, I’ve been close several times to buying, and then just wuss out on the size weight.

55's at 53mm high feels like riser territory as well being that wide
are they 407g compared to 169's which are 411g?
