really contemplating getting 56mm classics today to correct the dane1 pop angle. nose isnt getting up high enough with smaller wheels, overjumping the board a ton when im going for higher pop.

stepped on the tail of my popsicle and marked how high the nose reached against a wall and it was about an inch higher than the dane.
(popsicle: venture forged, 52mm spits) vs (dane: venture forged, 1/8 risers, 54mm ojs)

is it due to the mellow tail angle? short nose? long tail? really like the shape but willing to call it quits if some madness cant get it perfect

I've had similar issues with my Andy Anderson deck. First I've set it up with independent 169 and it was pretty difficult to pop high ollies. Now, after changing to Venture 6.1, I really like how it feels. I think I wasn't used to the long mellow tail.
You could also try using another 1/8 riser before buying new bigger wheels

58mm height on venture 6.1s would be too much of a mindfuck for me. its looking like a bust unless they start making a steeper tail, i can dream

Honestly pull the trigger, I’ve had multiple and they are a fantastic and really fun shape. I have that exact same Boserio gripped and ready to go for when the one I’m on dies. If you have any shaped decks I’d be more than happy to trade with you

@GAY imp sausage inspired me to set mine up again...3rd times a charm...this time, i'm really liking it. I think the issue i had is back foot placement...today i tried putting it at the edge of the tail rather than the pocket, and wow, what a difference!

Chico deck
thunder 149 - medium bottom bushing, super hard top bushing
Spitfire F4 53mm 99

That’s great that you’re digging it now, as I said my first roll on it wasn’t as fruitful as I’d thought it would be but yeah, the tail is huge so where you put your foot would make a huge difference. I’m not going out of my way to put my foot in any particular place but the first time  I tried to manual on it it felt really heavy and non cooperative whereas now I can hold my manuals pretty much as long as I like. Flips really nicely too even though I’m not doing too many flip tricks in my old age...

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

I'm enjoying the 9" popsicle so much that I picked up another one today. Going to set this one up with 169s. I grabbed 3 out of the pile and they all had different wheelbases - 14.25, 14.38, 15. Got the 14.25.

All the same boards, but with way different wheelbases?

I wonder if that would be the board for the orange eagle at 15, the board for Heroin at 14.25 and the other one for someone else if you match up the board dimensions to other BBS wood...

Places like that would most likely get the blems from BBS - slight issues so they go in the "other" pile and are sold off to whoever wants them.  Nothing wrong with them, as I used to get so many like that back in the 90s when I couldn't afford anything else.  They sure were a mixed bag though and no two decks were alike.

I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

I cant manual, never even learnt it as a kid...im all about  kick flips now though, its taken me 2 years to get them back, but in the past couple of months im more consistent and able to kick flip off and on to things...and this deck flips great. Next trick i need to get back is pop shuvs, but they are proving to be more of a mental issue rather than set up

Changing from 54mm to 56mm won't do much. Just 1mm higher. I doubt you would notice that. Put something thin under your wheel and check the angle.

I'm not sure about the 35th deck..I bet @144p would be the dude for that one.. I emailed Slappys because I don't have IG and was hoping they would ship the 9's even if they aren't on the site for sale. I hope they do because that shape looks good.

they’re sitting unmourned in my basement with my boards and parts. They’re 161 hollow lights. Prob use 1/8” riser, maybe 54mm classics or even go smaller. Any thoughts.

Yes. I can Ollie just as high as normal.
Trucks are stock, nut flush. It’s really squirrelly and stable at the same time. It’s an awesome setup, landed my first back 360 on it and I think it’s making me skate faster going into grinds. Bigger wheelbases are fun. Anyone remember where Freddy is talking about skating 16”wheelbases on acid with soft wheels?

Ask me about my Ray Barbee flames deck 10x32 15.75”WB with 215s and 54mm wheels

can you do ollies on it? how stable?

He talked about it in the Tim O podcast and in another interview (recent-is, maybe Bobshirt?). Here is a pic of him doing a 50-50 on one of those long AWS decks via Chromeball:

Frigid temps and a foot of snow on the ground has really put a dent in my wallet.

Left: Theories Special Delivery Shape 9x31.25 14.25wb
        Indy Stage 11 149s
Dial Tone Rotary round cut 52mm 99a wheels
        Bone's Big Balls bearings
        Dial Tone Hardware

Right: Heroin DitchWitch 9.3x31.8 14.1wb
          Ace 55s
          Spitfire F4 Conical 54mm 101a
          Lucky hardware
          And Lil Jawns Rails

Get hungry on it!
