Where were you able to find these in the US? I'm pretty curious about trying them.

US source is http://eurotings.com/collections/all-film/.  I just got my 5.5 hollows today and they look great.  Eurotings accidentally shipped me the regular raws at first and realized their mistake before they got here and made the return super easy.  Order with confidence.

I'm going to set these up on an extra Theories 8.25 deck I have and will post a short review in the next week or two.

Might just grab some Film trucks. You guys are making them seem very tempting. The UV reactive ones are dope!

can someone who has them measure the axle to axle wb? havent seen a number yet if im correct
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

They add 3.25” to the wheelbase.  Which I think is close to Indy/ace both of which make me pop like shit but somehow I don’t have that problem with Film

Tragedy struck today fellas :(

Same thing happened with my magnesium ones earlier. It could have been the cold weather but I worry it's a design flaw or something. Tensor hooked me up with another pair free of charge so I'll give them another try but I might be looking for other trucks which sucks because aside from this they've been perfect.

So I've got some questions about Destructos, Films Trucks and Theeves.

First question about Destructos: does the baseplate touch when doing slides or do the wheels? TwisT mentioned this:

The hanger geometry isn't as cool as Tensor or ACE (Ace is just an attractive truck) but the baseplate is rounded and it doesn't extend past the wheels.

I'm wondering if that's the same for everyone or if it's maybe a wheel size thing? I just prefer not having to deal with wheels touching during slides personally.

Next question is if anyone can tell me in general how film trucks are compared to another truck for reference? I'm pretty curious about the inverted kingpin ones. Dunno how I'd get them in NA though, but they seem cool.

Last question, how have theeves changed over the years? I skated V1s with bones bushings but I've heard the geometry, bushings and overall feel has changed over the iterations.

Film 5.5, few pages ago in this thread:

- weight 361g
- height 53mm
- hanger width 143mm
- axle width 210mm
- WB change +2 7/8" (73mm)

Been happy with them still.

This is interesting - I have different measurement, which I'm quite sure was properly conducted (average of both axel figures). I've seen many values listed, from my 2 7/8" to 3 1/4" here.

That sucks to hear on the Maglights, had high hopes for them being the dark horse truck. How did the break happen? Regular skateboarding or impact stuff?

Steve’s response has me definitely wanting to try some Film’s now. You skating them with the stock bushings Steve? I hate how they say “film” on the bushings though...makes me wanna swap them out even if they’re good lol.

In response to someone inquiring about Theeve, I never skated the V1 or V2’s, but I recently purchased some V3 TiAX’s and they are the best trucks for me. Just a hair less of that Ace-like turn but extremely close. Definitely better than Indy. Very hard to wheelbite with the oval yoke. Top quality, as well. I would choose them over Indy because of the turn. And I would choose them over Ace because of the better quality control.

I would like to try some TiAX - but the supply seems to have dried up.  Is Theeve failing, waiting to come out with a V4, or are US stores just not carrying them anymore?

They’re an Aussie company and aren’t really big here in the states compared to top dogs. Just have to order direct from their site, that’s what I did. Skate warehouse usually has them but their stock has been low since around the holidays and doesn’t look like they’ve replenished.

Bummer to see that happen. Probably a random defect. Iirc, that's a spot where 2 "flows" of alloy meet up in the mold. Sometimes you can can see a small line in the middle of the hanger, that's where those flows meet. There's also a broken truck insta and I remember seeing an Indy break just like that, think it was Kreiner's board. Someone posted pics here. I've cracked an Indy stage 8 hanger completely in half, thru the yoke and everything, and that was on a krooks.

Something happened with their distribution and they're barely in any shops. They were linked up with Stereo and that horrific belt company, what happened after that? Did their advertising claims annoy some shops? Seems like they got tougher to find around the time they switched from Bones bushings.

I’m not sure, they were under Surplus dist and then I think that went under so they just do direct and then probably sell through more of the EU distros because in the states I don’t see them in any. Either way, not too hard to get them and they’re worth it.

@rocklobster

I was riding bones v3 slim 52mm when I wrote that. Currently riding the 54mm version of the same wheel. On the same Destructos.

They did rerelease the rail killer, with the extended baseplate

They have them on their website! https://theevetrucks.com/collections/products/products/theeve-tihanger-v2-raw-skateboard-trucks?variant=30932224081998

But holy crap, $250?? They are good trucks, I bought a pair of 8 inch ones back in 2012 at Tactics when I was going to college in Eugene, and I don't recall them being that expensive. Maybe $150 retail, but I had a discount code with them.

They were decent, super light and good turning/response. Grinded great on concrete, but terrible on metal coping. I retired them to my small cruiser setup after I sized up to 8.25 and larger boards half a year later.

Edit: whoops, I thought you meant the Ti Hanger ones, my bad.

These were actually the aluminum ones, I already broke a pair of magnesium ones the same way :(

I was doing a lot of crooked grinds which I imagine puts a lot of pressure on the little nub during the pinch then landed a heelflip funny and this happened. To be fair I mixed the magnesium baseplate with the aluminum hanger but the geometry should be the same? I've got another two pairs from the first ones I busted so I could just be really unlucky. If something happens again though I'll re-contact tensor.

I'm very tempted to try film trucks now since the reviews seem to be particularly glowing.

Edit: For reference I'm over 6 feet tall, and around 180lbs I think. I've been trying to gain weight since I got cleared for the gym again from my doc, but I'm not fucking huge by any means.

Really appreciate the info on theeves. Might just go back to them if these other ones break.

Also do regular destrucos avoid the wheel touching during slides issue, or just the "rail killer" destrucos?

Theeves are really good man, would take them over indy any day. Lighter, sleeker, turn better/quicker and more stable on center. Having both skated (and liked) Theeve and the ATGs, my guess is you would like them, they are very close in performance (with theeve sitting a bit lower and tucking in the WB a bit).

I saw some crazy PDF with FEA testing showing more load on the pivot during mannies. Should be the same for krooks. Really jamming them in should be worse. Slappy krooks should be really really bad.
Wanna take some close up pics of the crack? The nub and hanger sides.
On the part of the nub shown it looks like there was a partial crack halfway across, and then the last bit tore and completely broke. Looks like a clean fracture to the left, and the torn part on the right. Kinda jives with the krooks, then breaking on a heelflip.
Hmm, another possibility is crappy heat treat.

Good to know, if the other tensors die on me I'll probably go for those since they're a solid option. What's the sizing on them like and which model do people recommend? It seems the the CSX hollows are the easiest option?

I will admit I'm still just flat out curious about destructo and film since I've never skated them so I just wanna try them myself, but I'll get more info on those and if they'd actually be good for me before I bite the bullet. Never tried Royal either but I don't know anyone who recommends them

Also I'll take a picture of the breaks right now, magnesium and aluminum and post them in a sec

Expand Quote
The hanger geometry isn't as cool as Tensor or ACE (Ace is just an attractive truck) but the baseplate is rounded and it doesn't extend past the wheels.
[close]

I'm wondering if that's the same for everyone or if it's maybe a wheel size thing? I just prefer not having to deal with wheels touching during slides personally.

Next question is if anyone can tell me in general how film trucks are compared to another truck for reference? I'm pretty curious about the inverted kingpin ones. Dunno how I'd get them in NA though, but they seem cool.

Last question, how have theeves changed over the years? I skated V1s with bones bushings but I've heard the geometry, bushings and overall feel has changed over the iterations.

Shalom

That sucks to hear on the Maglights, had high hopes for them being the dark horse truck. How did the break happen? Regular skateboarding or impact stuff?
[close]

Royal is trash. Don't even bother.

Since your only option is direct ordering those theeve’s, the tiax are stronger and are $4 more than the hollows on their site. Makes no sense, but yeah get those. 5.5’s are 8.18” wide. 5.85 are 8.5” wide.

can someone who has them measure the axle to axle wb? havent seen a number yet if im correct
[close]

They add 3.25” to the wheelbase.  Which I think is close to Indy/ace both of which make me pop like shit but somehow I don’t have that problem with Film
[close]

This is interesting - I have different measurement, which I'm quite sure was properly conducted (average of both axel figures). I've seen many values listed, from my 2 7/8" to 3 1/4" here.

No idea if I’m measuring it correctly but the deck WB is 14.5 and the measurement from center of the axle to center of the axle is 17.75

Do not change the bushings.  It’s that interlocking bushing that makes them amazing.  You can literally scratch the logo off with your fingernail

Oh cool, so it's interlocking sort of like the ATGs. I saw you had nothing but good stuff to say about Film in an earlier post. Do you know how they size or how they compare to tensors?

Not the best angles. Side shots don't really help unless you can see something like a jagged crack there. Or a line that could have started a crack.
In the last pic there's an odd round thing that could be an impurity, or worse a void.
Pics looking down on the crack are best, showing the pivot as a circle. Might have to take the hanger off.

What's the wb added for Tensor? Similar to Venture?

From the WB on your trucks thread (I took the ATG Alum measurement, slightly over my indy 169 alum)
https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=108580.0
Tensor ATG Aluminium 5.5 (8.25" axle):
+ 3.0625"

Tensor ATG Mag 5.75 (8.5" axle):
+ 3.125

should add the film and theeve info there too

Ah my bad, one sec

Edit: here's more pictures https://imgur.com/a/t4Oj3Sc

I also only have the remainder of the nub for the aluminum one, didn't really hold on to the mag one.
