Anyone got the dimensions on Limo's 9.0 decks? I believe they use the generic 9.0 shape off BBS but skatesamples doesn't do B2C anymore so I can't check the dimensions. Can't find them on Tactics / SWH.

Thanks!
[close]

Their own website says 9.0" x 33.25" 14.8" Wheelbase, so it is not the "Orange Eagle" (33"/15").

Cheers, thanks for the info!
Venture Truck Height:

5.0 & 5.2 LO
STANDARD - 1.88” - 47.75mm
FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI
STANDARD - 2.09” - 53.09mm
FORGED - 2.04” - 51.82m

For additional reference: here’s the current shape guide (w/ shorter WB offerings included.)

I recently got a deck with the longest wheelbase I've ever skated, 14.38", and I ride Venture trucks which already extend wheelbase.

Thing is, lately I've been more sore after sessions, even had to skip a session this week. My quads ache a little bit but the worst of it is in my left (flicking leg) tibialis anterior muscle aka the muscle that runs alongside the shin bone, which has literally never been a problem for me. (it's definitely not shin splints, it's 100% muscle ache)

I'm still stretching the same before sessions, warming up the same, trying mostly all the same tricks, the only thing that has changed is trying out this longer wheelbase deck, which has me wondering, is that slight extra heft of this longer wheelbase setup what's wearing me down? I just can't think of any other reason I'm suddenly so achey.
Is this something that happens or anyone else has experienced?

skating is a physical activity
if im not aching afterwards i wasnt going hard
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

I keep cracking boards on flat ground kickflips. like once every two or three weeks.  im pretty frustrated and i guess i dont have a question, just needed to vent.  i know its a skill issue, and im just working on fixing it.

AF1 vs. Slappy ST1 Classic, 8.25" hangars
these trucks seem very similar to me

Ace: 53mm with Forged Plate
Slappy: 54mm with Cast Plate

Ace: 387g
Slappy: 381g

Ace: 3"
Slappy: 3.15"

Ace: 91a top, 86a bottom bushing
Slappy: 90a bushings

I am guessing the difference in WB pushout, and height, comes from being on a cast plate instead of a forged. Interesting Ace's are still slightly heavier, but I can see how they would have a bit more material on the hangar to make them heavier to make up for the forged plate. Aces would probably just be way too heavy if they were on a cast plate. Bushing style is the same from what I can tell with the standard setup of cylinder on the bottom, coned / "barrel" on top.

Not sure if I need to even try these trucks to be honest they just seem like Aces with shittier bushings? :o  slightly lighter, slightly higher - cast plates instead of forged.

i know i said i hate forged plates lol that would be one reason for me to get these over Aces.

So I got this bolt I need to replace at work, I’ve got a spare bolt for my board that holds it for now but it’s too long.
Anybody remember the actual diameter of skate hardware?
I just wanna make a quick trip to the hardware store to get the right one.

Why does it seem like Ventures pop up so sparingly in European footage? I see Thunders, so DLX is clearly exporting trucks there. Some dudes ride for Venture, but it's like a weird black spot for them. Other places it's the opposite you only see DLX trucks.

Got these 440’s for super cheap and noticed the lasting board for some reason has the 933 Easter egg in the lasting board. They’re sample models which is something I didn’t know existed so I guess that’s why?

Size 9? I have a friend who works for a non-skate shoe company, and he floats me an endless supply of Size 9 "salesman samples". I had to ask him to stop.

On that note, one time I found four pairs of size 9 sample skate shoes at the thrift store. It was a pair of Hufs and three pairs of Vans. I presume someone who worked in the skate industry had dropped them off. I remember going to the front of the store with my heart racing, because I felt like I was stealing them as I paid $40 for four pairs of NOS skate shoes.

Think so. He said 9 or 9.5 and I’m a 9.5. They fit a lot more like 9.5’s but I’ve never had 440’s

Getting a bunch of cheap skate shoes is like hitting the jackpot.

These are pink white and gum and I actually really like the pink.

If you go to any thrift store near Pacific Beach in SD you'll find all the Emerica samples often right at release date. They had the heinous Servold shoes in droves at Goodwill. They recently had Spanky Highs as well.

Isn’t Science is frightening sometimes? Hope it’s not Yellowstone. There’s been magma movement down in those chambers. Tornado Alley is pushing towards the east coast.

Greenland is pretty far away from all that don’t you think? Maybe they want that so they can continue to suck in relative safety as we all burn in lavanados?

Maybe they are cast but they are extremely thin compared to Indy thunder and venture and it dampens the sound in a weird way that I don’t like
It probably is better for doing tricks though I imagine (to be thinner)

Buddy is trying front crooks and thinks his wheels are causing him to slip off.

Are big or small wheels better for front crooks? Wide or standard?

His exact question was: “what kind of wheel does Jamie Foy ride?”
Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.

i ride almost this same setup that foy rides. i would say a smaller wheel is kinda better for the most part. big wheels help you stay on rails more id say than ledges. then you cant go anywhere once you are pinched. but if you have too big of wheels on a ledge you just sit on it on way more of an angle and it wants to just spit you out. i find 55 classic works incredibly well for me for these more complicated grinds.

i have tried pretty much every shape and i would say classic shape seem the best for feebles and crooks because it reduces the drag significantly, it seems like you have to go so much faster to do these grinds on those more square type wheels, a lot of time you jsut get pitched off. i dont think the wideness matters much moreso than having that really rounded edge.

From what I read, Suciu and Foy do the same technique for front crooks - flat feet on the board and front toe off the top of the nose an inch or two, almost or actually in contact with the ledge.

Both Foy and a woman beater who shall not be named have the same trick tip for front crook, which works for me: back foot in the heelside pocket, front foot on the bolts in a heelflip position with toes off the rail. Approach fairly parallel and you will naturally go right into it and then stand over your front foot looking down at it.

maybe some local shops could sponsor you with some shop decks / completes? Or spread the word and get some donations of old gear from local skaters?

otherwise you could get decks from skatesamples / bbs with a program like that, not sure about the other components though

Yeah it definitely helps to have a local shop, or brand or someone to help with things, either with supply or with connections in how to get things for you to use.

People might be surprised how easy it seems to get a dozen completes from certain brands if you are willing to do the work to show that you are doing something good for the community and can help promote their bushiness and interests, but having something already set up definitely helps, eg come up with a name, start social media accounts, get people on board to help and talk it up.

That is what I have seen with some here in AU that I follow or have helped out with in the past.

Some countries it is easy to get a business number, whether or not you are volunteer or paid, or a group or whatever, but at least to get some things sorted in that regard made it easier for me to run things, even if it was just under my own name.

Starting at a basic level and seeing how you go always helps, eg come up with a plan, take the plan or a basic outline of it into the local shop or send it to a few brands you are interested in, as they might get behind you and send you some things as well.  Never hurts to ask in a nice polite way, but when people or entities see you have worked it out and are not just turning up asking for stuff, they might have a more positive view of what you are trying to achieve.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Thinking about getting in the insole game, how much should I be paying? Prices seem pretty high [fp and remind]. I thought they would be like $15. Higher prices worth it?

Also pretty worried about stack height. Any low but effective recommendations? Anybody see results with switching work shoes/chill shoes?.
