Upon further forensic inspection those trucks look like 5.2 Highs. You can kinda tell because the proportion of the wings to the truck width. Looking at a board with 5.8 in front of me there's a bigger gap between the wing end and the wheel. So, the deck looks pretty even with the trucks I would imagine it's his normal 8.06 shape just different print on it. Could be an experimental shape they print those in tons of graphics.

I feel like those 53 classics would look smaller on 5.8s, I've run that combo before. There definitely is some lens distortion so its hard to say.

But if there's one thing I know for sure, its that guessing DLX riders/employees board shape by looking at what eagle print is on it is not a reliable method at all lol

I love all this sleuthing. I think it makes sense that it’s the olive eagle graphic but a different size/shape.

On my laptop it looks more brown than olive, could be lighting. I mean Venture Lo on Anti Hero is a wild combo at face value. Frankly I don't want to see NM on any other board than one with his name on it.

My guess is they are the new hollow casts and will run on a limited basis for a bit….

I asked Nick before deleting IG and he replied:

8 or 8.25
Venture Low Hollow
52 99 or 101

Also let's hope he wouldn't have hardware like that pic
I live in Chicago and according to the locals he’s been skating 51mm wheels, 8-8.25 boards but no clue on low or high ventures, sometimes antihero will print different color eagles on whatever the rider rides to give them more graphic options

Yeah that is the 8" eagle (brown) and not the 8.38" eagle (green) as some people had thought.

All makes sense, generally 8" with 8" trucks and smaller wheels, more often that not Classics, which is the most common type of setup that those guys get in their boxes.

Not a worry either way to me really, but he sure is a pleasure to watch on a board.

love the nick matthews setup speculation! he, bdk, and willow, all have setups i want to know
from footage it has often looked like NM had venture lo’s, to me. maybe i was just seeing what i wanted too. the stock olive eagle, is a big board, and he does not look very large….

my best guess on a BDK setup from footage is:

Quasi 8.38
Thunder 148 standard with no bottom washer
Real wooden risers
55mm wheels with varying shapes usually something wider

A lot of Thunder pros skate with no bottom washer, noticed Joe Campos and more recently Nick Michel run them without the bottom. Would like to know Nick Michel's setup but its a lil bit more generic so hard to pinpoint on footage.

Took me 5 minutes to drill some forged baseplates, i don't like forged plates that much so i didn't care if i ruined them. Might have set the wb wayyyyyyy in....

I used the forged plates since the og holes are drilled different than the cast. Gave me more room to drill the holes more seperate. Plus they sit the hanger lower. FYI i used indy stage vii plates as guides and templates.

What kind of bit are you using?

nobody asked but nick matthews is running:
8.38 olive eagle
5.8 cast
53mm classics

That’s a dope classic. I gotta go bigger wheels but green oval’s are always a welcome addition to my life

There's pics of BDK's board from a spitfire ad and some vids someone he knows posted on here and the trucks looked bone stock, risers, they said 55 Conical fulls.

Thunder no bottom washer is common for smaller people like Joe or people who live in super cold winters just remove it and keep their trucks the same KP nut tightness so they don't freeze up. Nick Michel seems to have 149s, risers, 54-56 looking wheel.

It's pretty standard. Lots of dudes with Thunders and risers, venture or Indy no risers, moderately big square wheels. It almost seems like 52-53 classics is just for "tech dudes" or Reynolds.

I know him irl, he moved away but when I saw him last he was on the 8.06 deluxe shape (think it has a 14.38 wb) 52 99 spits f4 and low 5.25 hollow ventures. He gave me a set of 52 spits and 5.25 hollow lows once

The V8 is slightly drilled back roughly 1/8inch when on the standard holes. This is compared against a standard cast baseplate.

That is very interesting!

Even a small difference like that can be such a different feeling when skating them, which is why they would be a good stand alone truck, or more so used just in the second set of holes on boards that the wheelbase is too long / kicks too short.

I am still liking the tail in but the nose as it was, on a set I drilled in myself, but will be keen to see these trucks in person when they do arrive in AU, a few months out still I think.

Thanks for posting.

The bottom right mentions the baseplate has been extended so maybe its just that?

No it's not the offset of each truck is actually 5/16"

https://ibb.co/8zshcq4 It's not the angle just hard to get an exact photo but C-C it's clearly between 1/4" and 3/8".

If you mean the plate it's a hair under 1/8" longer if that. When viewed from the side the part you slide on is a hair thicker and a hair more upright. Ventures have the best plate slide for me by a notable margin so my guess is this helps when the wheels are further in and you have more nose contact.

Yeah I can confirm that its a little closer to 5/16 than it is to 1/4.

Makes it a bit too short for me all round on most boards

Thanks for the info and especially the pic.

I drill mine as close to the other holes as I can, with some I did more recently.  I don't go hard on my boards, so I don't think I would ever have a problem, but at least I know I can get it down a bit more on mine and feel pretty comfortable on at least one shape - the DLX 8.38 - that I like a little more tail, but not too much.

I probably sound like a broken record, but I would be stoked to have some trucks with middle holes, like Thunder, more so than offset to either end of the baseplate in Venture and Indy.  Not a worry though, almost every other board I skate works well as is.

Without scrolling back a number of pages, does anyone have the duro of the v8 bushings?

I’m not sure if it’s the inset truck, my imagination, or that the bushings are softer, but I had to crank these things down pretty good.

The blue ones in the v8s were confirmed to have come out a little softer than the usual 90as. It wasn't by design, this batch just ended up a lil softer

Good to know. I'm pushing 195 lbs but have always been able to rock stock Venture bushings. The V8 bushings were not working for me. Too soft! I thought I was losing my mind.
